Chapter 853 - Chapter 817

**Chapter 817: Cave of Truth**

**Scene 1: Healing Pools and Reflection**

Anakin Skywalker submerged himself in the glowing pool hidden deep within one of Dagobah's ancient gnarltrees. The water was cool, almost unnaturally so, yet it spread warmth through every aching muscle and bruised bone. Three days—no, a full week now—of relentless training had left his body a map of punishment. When he emerged, dripping and gasping, the cuts, strains, and exhaustion had vanished. His right arm, once mechanical after Geonosis, was flesh and blood again—restored by Dagon in a casual display of the Wrath Shield's healing capabilities.

'Man, those pools are something else,' Anakin thought, flexing his fingers. 'I dipped in and my body is healed. No problems at all.'

He sat on a moss-covered root, reflecting on the past week. This wasn't Jedi training as he knew it. The old Order had trials, yes—tests of courage, wisdom, and control. But this felt different. Raw. Brutal. Like the clone regimen Rex had once described during long nights on Christophsis. Endless running through sucking mud. Swimming against hidden currents. Climbing slick vines while weighted beskar chains dragged at his limbs. Sword drills with a heavy blade until his shoulders screamed. And always Dagon's voice pushing him harder.

"No Force," Dagon had ordered, the black armor impassive. "Not until you master the body. The Chosen One cannot rely on power alone."

Anakin had cursed him more than once. The chains shocked him every time he instinctively reached for the Force. It was maddening—yet effective. He was stronger now. Faster. More aware of his own limits and how to push beyond them.

A rustle in the undergrowth announced Dagon's approach. The armored figure emerged from the mist like a shadow given form.

"Ready for the next step?" Dagon asked.

Anakin stood, wiping residual water from his face. "I've survived your version of hell for a week. What's next?"

Dagon gestured toward a dark opening at the base of a massive gnarltree. Vines twisted like living guardians around the entrance. A chill emanated from within.

**Scene 2: The Cave of Evil**

"The Cave of Evil," Dagon said, voice low. "Also known as the dark-side cave. A living vergence of the dark side located under this very tree. Entering it subjects you to its control—projecting your worst fears as apparitions and illusions."

Anakin stared at the yawning darkness. "What's in there?"

"Many things. Dark side visions. Light side visions. Past. Present. Future. Alternate choices. It is a cave of opportunities."

"That doesn't sound enjoyable," Anakin said with a wry smile, trying to mask his unease.

Dagon's helmet tilted slightly. "To be honest, it differs for others. Remember one thing: confronting fear is the destiny of a Jedi. Your destiny."

Anakin took a deep breath and stepped inside.

The darkness swallowed him immediately. The air grew thick, heavy with the scent of smoke and blood. Visions assaulted him without mercy.

He saw a future of suffering: himself dueling Darth Sidious on a shattered bridge, lightning tearing through his body. Jedi dying in droves. A betrayal on Mustafar—lava rivers glowing as Obi-Wan screamed, "You were my brother!" Padmé lying broken on the ground, his own hand around her throat in a vision of choking rage. His body encased in black armor, becoming Vader—mechanical, monstrous, a slave to pain and hatred.

"No… nooo… why?" Anakin panicked, stumbling backward. His lightsaber ignited instinctively, casting blue light that barely pierced the gloom.

**'Fulfill your destiny.'** A voice echoed in his head—cold, inevitable.

The scene shifted. Darth Vader—his alternate self—stood before him, towering and silent. Then the chamber changed. A small, circular hall with light from above. No way forward. Anakin turned—

—and the corridor behind him vanished.

Darkness. Absolute. Even his lightsaber's glow struggled. Sounds emerged: rustling leaves, rain, faint music. Scents of fir and fresh bread—home, impossible home.

A figure appeared. Himself. Exact copy. Then it melted, reforming into a tattooed, yellow-eyed Sith version with sharp teeth and a savage grin. "The future is predetermined."

It dissolved again. A rotting corpse—his own body, maggots where eyes should be. "The future is predetermined."

Next: a figure in all black, faceless helmet, gray translucent visor, lifeless lips. "The future is predetermined."

Then a strict military version, gaze distant. "The future is predetermined!"

A flash of light. Anakin found himself in a chamber with carved columns. A statue on a platform held a tray with two lightsabers—silver with black inlays, slanted emitters. One hilt 65 centimeters, the other 45. They connected with a click into a single weapon.

The statue moved. "There is no turning back!"

Anakin reached out. The hilts felt right—balanced, alive. But as he touched them—

—he banged his head against the wall.

Back in the circular chamber. A small recess glowed in the wall. Anakin reached in and pulled out a single red crystal. Natural. Vibrant. Not bled or corrupted. It pulsed with inner light, almost alive.

Another ghost appeared—an old man, wise and weary. "Don't make the same mistake twice."

"I won't," Anakin whispered.

He exited the cave, stepping into the misty light of Dagobah, the red crystal clutched tightly in his hand.

**Scene 3: Revelations and Departure**

Outside, an ancient-looking Dagon waited, robes tattered, face lined with centuries. "Oh, Anakin… it's been fifty years."

"What?!" Anakin recoiled in horror.

Dagon's form shimmered. The hologram disguise dropped, revealing the familiar black-armored figure. R2-D2 rolled up beside him, whistling innocently.

"Nah, just kidding. Just ten minutes," Dagon said, deactivating the projector. "R2 had the idea."

"R2, why?" Anakin groaned, shooting the droid a betrayed look.

Dagon stepped closer. "Now… what did you accomplish?"

Anakin held up the red crystal. "A lot. A lot of information. And this."

Dagon examined it carefully. "Interesting. A natural red one. Not corrupted or bled. It feels… alive. Well done, Skywalker."

"Uh, Master… what does this mean?"

"It means you finally let go of the past," Dagon replied, his voice carrying unexpected weight. "Skywalker is no longer a slave. You are a true Jedi."

Dagon turned toward his Lambda-class shuttle. "You could join me on my ship if you want. I have materials to build a new lightsaber. Come on—we still have a war to win."

Anakin hesitated only a moment before hurrying to his T-70 X-wing. As he climbed in, a familiar presence shimmered into view beside the fighter—Qui-Gon Jinn's ghost, smiling faintly with approval before fading away.

R2-D2 whistled happily as the canopy closed. The X-wing lifted off, following Dagon's shuttle into the misty sky.

Dagobah grew smaller behind them. Anakin gripped the red crystal, feeling its quiet power. The future was not yet written. For the first time, he believed he could help shape it.

The Dragon and the Chosen One returned to the stars—together.
