Chapter 752 - Chapter 724 : Annihilation part 6

**Chapter 724: Fusion of Fury**

**Umbara – Northern Highlands**

**Clone Wars: Year 2, Month 10, Week 1**

**Scene 1: Approach to the Air Base**

Dagon Marek crouched at the mouth of the narrow gorge, his masked gaze sweeping the shadowed terrain ahead. The path was a natural choke point — a steep, winding defile barely wide enough for single squads to advance in formation. Beyond it lay the primary Umbaran air base, a critical objective that would sever the capital's long-range missile support.

The base was an architectural marvel of Umbaran ingenuity. Eight domed buildings surrounded a towering central command center, all enclosed by an elliptical outer perimeter protected by a humming sensor wall. Within the walls stretched a vast airfield capable of accommodating dozens of starships, its tarmac glowing with fluorescent blue lighting in elegant curved patterns. Smaller support structures dotted the perimeter, each building smooth and rounded with blue, green, and red lighting elements piercing the planet's perpetual gloom. Fluorescent blue markers outlined the perimeter roads, standing out against the dark, shadowy jungles that pressed close on all sides.

Defending it were multiple divisions of Umbaran militia, supported by Zenuas 33 starfighters, Umbaran hover tanks, and the dreaded Mobile Heavy Cannons.

"Perfect defensive position," Dagon muttered. "But every fortress has a crack."

He turned to Commander Bacara. "Bacara, stand back for a moment. This next push is going to be loud."

Bacara nodded, signaling his troops to hold position. "21st, form up behind the General. Give him room."

Dagon planted his feet. "Wrath Shield: Cannon mode. Spike mode. Fusion."

The armor responded with a brilliant flash. Heavy Cannon-mode plating thickened across his frame, granting massive superhuman strength and durability, while Spike-mode elements integrated seamlessly — glowing blue spikes erupting from shoulders, forearms, back, and legs. The hybrid configuration pulsed with dark energy, ready to unleash devastating combinations.

**Fusion Mode – Capabilities Active:**

- **Superhuman Strength & Durability:** Inherited from Cannon mode. The added weight transformed Dagon into a walking siege engine.

- **Dark Charge:** He could now launch himself at enemies with devastating force, enhanced by protruding spikes for extra penetration damage.

- **Spike Projectiles:** Rapid-fire launches of energized spikes capable of extreme destructive power.

- **Spike Whips:** Retractable dark-charged whips ending in spiked flails rather than grappling hooks — perfect for latching, swinging, or hurling enemies.

The first division moved into the gorge. Almost immediately, they met heavy resistance. Umbaran Impeding Assault Tanks rumbled forward, their electromagnetic plasma cannons charging, while towering Umbaran Mobile Heavy Cannons (UMHC) — heavily armored walkers impervious to most blaster fire and missiles — brought their articulated electromagnetic plasma cannons to bear from elevated positions.

"Contact! Multiple heavy contacts!" a clone sergeant shouted. "Those walkers are tanking everything we throw at them!"

"Hold the line!" Bacara roared. "General's moving!"

"Smashing time," Dagon growled.

He accelerated. Thrusters flared as he launched forward in a devastating Dark Charge, becoming a spiked missile of pure wrath. The first UMHC tried to track him, but Dagon slammed into its dome-like body at turbo speed. Spikes punched through armor plating with cannonball force. The walker staggered, internal systems rupturing in a shower of sparks and plasma.

"General's on them!" a Mandalorian warrior cheered over comms. "Cover his flanks!"

Dagon bounced off the crippled walker, landing in the middle of a hover tank formation. He extended both arms — twin Spike Whips lashed out, spiked flails wrapping around two tanks. With a surge of dark energy, he hurled them sideways into their comrades, creating a chain of crushing impacts.

"Eat this!" Dagon shouted, voice distorted and metallic. He fired a barrage of Spike Projectiles from his shoulder pads. The energized spikes tore through the weaker side armor of an Impeding Assault Tank, detonating its power core in a brilliant explosion.

A clone lieutenant on an AT-RT laughed grimly as he flanked another walker. "That's how you do it, boys! The Dragon's turning their heavies into scrap! Push forward — don't let them regroup!"

"Watch your left, General!" Bacara warned. "Two more Mobile Cannons cresting the ridge!"

Dagon spun, launching himself again in a Dark Charge. He crashed through the first walker like a battering ram, spikes shredding its articulated cannon. The second tried to bring its main weapon to bear, but Dagon's whips snapped out, yanking the walker off-balance before he delivered a spiked uppercut that caved in its dome.

"Nice work, sir!" an ARC trooper called out, mopping up disoriented Umbaran infantry with precise blaster fire. "You just made the 21st's job a whole lot easier!"

The narrow gorge echoed with explosions and the roar of Republic armor. Where single squads had been forced to advance cautiously, Dagon's rampage created a corridor of destruction. Clones and Mandalorians poured through behind him, eliminating survivors and securing the perimeter buildings one by one.

By the time the last Umbaran heavy cannon fell silent, the outer sensor wall had been breached and the airfield was under Republic control.

**Scene 2: Captured Air Base – Central Command Tower**

Dagon stood atop the central control tower, Fusion-mode armor slowly powering down. Blue spikes retracted as the heavy plating shifted back to a more balanced configuration. Below, Republic forces secured the vast airfield. Captured Umbaran starfighters were already being examined by Sienar technicians who had dropped in with the second wave.

"What is our situation?" Dagon asked as Bacara approached.

Bacara removed his helmet, revealing a weary but satisfied face. "General, we have taken the base and cut off enemy supply lines to the capital. Their long-range missile network is offline. Admiral Titus reports the fleet can now move into effective bombardment range once we drop the planetary shield over the capital itself."

Dagon nodded, looking out over the glowing blue tarmac. "Excellent. Secure all critical systems. Have the technicians pull every piece of shadow technology and plasma weaponry they can. We'll need it for the Core defense."

He paused, surveying the troops below. "Get some rest. Rotate fresh units to the perimeter. We hit the capital shield generators at dawn."

Bacara saluted crisply. "Yes, sir. The 21st won't let you down. After today… the men are saying you fight like the wrath of the galaxy itself."

Dagon's masked face turned slightly. A faint, distorted chuckle escaped. "Good. Let them believe it. The monster wins wars."

As Bacara moved off to relay orders, Dagon deactivated the last of Fusion mode. The Wrath Shield returned to its default armored state. In the distance, the lights of the Umbaran capital glowed defiantly behind its shield.

Two days of hard fighting had brought them this far. With the air base secured, the end of the campaign was in sight. Umbara's advanced technology — shadow weapons, plasma systems, innovative armor — would bolster the Republic's fleets just in time for *Spear of Light*.

Dagon activated a secure channel to the *Annihilator* hidden near Endor. "Stand by. We may need a demonstration of your firepower soon."

He looked up at the strange Umbaran sky. The war grew darker, but every victory made the necessary monster stronger. The girls back on Coruscant were healing. New alliances were forming. And the Dragon of the Republic continued his march — reshaping the galaxy one shattered defense at a time.

Tomorrow, the capital would fall.
