Chapter 67 - stress

I remain frozen in the centre of the parlor, my eyes glued to the floor but my ears catching every vicious word like knives cutting into my skin. My whole body trembles harder now, like a leaf caught in a storm, legs shaking so bad I fear they might give out any moment.

The air feels thick, suffocating, filled with the heavy breathing and shouting of the five men bonded to me. My mates. The ones I lied to. The ones I betrayed.

Ramses shoves Jericho again, harder this time, sending him stumbling back a few steps into the table. A loud crash echoes as something falls and breaks, but no one even looks. "You always think you know better, don't you? Mr. Protector!" Ramses bellows, his voice raw and terrifying, eyes blazing with pure fury. "But where were you when she first started hiding things? Too busy sniffing around her like a dog in heat to notice the lies piling up!"
