"You don't have to worry about that, I'll take care of it," Jericho reassures, his cold hands patting my back reassuringly. I exhale in relief, thinking of how I'm going to steal the amethyst and blame it on crazy dad.
"Hop on my back," Jericho says as he crouches to the floor, on all fours like a dog. I sit down on his warm back and immediately he transforms into a hyena, his dotted spots catching the little light in the dark. I gasp in surprise. Who the hell was this handsome hyena.
He's running now and I'm a little scared his bull-like strides are going to jerk me from his back, but for some reason his body grips me sturdily like there's a force of gravity preventing me from being dislodged.
I swallow, the cold air beating at me from all sides thanks to Jericho's speed. He stops abruptly in front of a gate, standing up as human again. I wonder how he achieves such smooth transformations — mine felt like I was being broken from the inside out.
