The wind blew in my direction, whipping my hair against my face.
"What am I doing here? Wasn't I asleep?" I asked, staring around, as I was outside, standing on top of a cliff.
"Veyr?" I yelled, but my voice only echoed through the air.
I stepped forward when I finally saw Veyla running ahead, worry written all over her face.
"Veyla, what's wrong?" I asked, but she walked right through me as though I were a ghost.
I stared at my translucent hand and heaved a heavy sigh.
I followed after her.
By the time we arrived, Veyr had already fallen off the cliff. He was desperately holding on to the only tree branch within reach, which was beginning to wobble.
"Hey, take my hand!" Veyla said, dropping to her knees and reaching out.
But Veyr's hand still couldn't reach hers. Tears streamed down his face as he cried for help.
"Hey, don't cry," she said.
I rushed to her side, watching as she raised the hem of her dress and lowered herself onto one of the rocks along the cliff.
