Fog instantly rose from the dug-out section of the spring, spreading rapidly until it covered the entire city.
From outside, the city had disappeared. What remained looked like a transparent glass prism. If someone didn't know a city was there, they would simply see a vast expanse of cleared land.
Inside, everyone was shocked. Workers and guards alike were suddenly engulfed by the fog and could barely see. Their visibility had dropped so low that they could only see their own fingers.
Chaos immediately ensued as people crashed into one another, but Lucien's eyes narrowed.
Then he moved.
A few moments later, Vanin, Sasha, and the rest of their team found themselves outside the city and beyond the fog, their visibility restored.
"Wait!"
"What?"
They were stunned. What had happened? More importantly, the city had suddenly disappeared. The situation was shocking, but that wasn't all.
