Chapter 167: Burn, Mysterious Being
Rumble!
In A-City, the battle raged on. To stop the unidentified mysterious being's invasion, Tatsumaki had no choice but to grit her teeth and repeatedly pulverize the giant's body. Tanktop Master also rejoined the battle. Their target was clear: the giant's thighs. As long as its legs were broken, the giant would be unable to advance.
"Explode!"
Tatsumaki panted slightly. She stopped using over-the-top moves like raining down meteorites and instead casually pointed a small finger at the base of the giant's thigh. Her psychokinetic power activated, and the giant's thigh immediately exploded, pulverizing the surrounding area. The giant, which had just struggled back to its feet, abruptly toppled over once more.
"God says, as long as heaven and earth exist, I am immortal and indestructible!"
Although the giant found it difficult to advance, it was still full of life. It had been blown up dozens of times, yet it hadn't suffered a single injury. Even though its forward progress was at a snail's pace, it constantly pushed onward, taking all intact buildings in its surroundings with it.
"You're just an unkillable cockroach, what's there to be arrogant about?" Tatsumaki's clothes fluttered. With a flick of her small hand, the giant's thigh exploded with a 'bang' again. Shattered flesh rained down like stones, only to be drawn back to the giant moments later as if by a magnet. The wounds vanished instantly, restoring it to its original, perfect state.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Sharp whistles tore through the air from above. Everyone looked up to see a dozen majestic robots jetting toward them, propelled by rockets.
"Target acquired!"
"Target confirmed!"
"Awaiting attack command."
One after another, cold, mechanical voices drifted through the air.
"Is that... Metal Knight's robot army?" Panting, Tanktop Master's eyes lit up when he saw the robots, and he immediately guessed Metal Knight was behind them.
Tatsumaki frowned slightly and muttered, "What? They're sending another hero over? They clearly don't trust my abilities. If they just gave me a little more time, I could figure out a way to eliminate this mysterious being!" However, she only grumbled, not moving to stop the robots from joining the battlefield.
"You two kids, my robots need to fire some special missiles that might cause collateral damage. Please evacuate the battlefield for now."
Metal Knight's slightly coarse voice emanated from one of the robots.
Tatsumaki composed herself, crossed her arms, and snorted coldly, "Just launch your attack. I don't believe your childish fireworks can harm me."
"Metal Knight, I need to rest for a bit. I'll leave this to you."
Tanktop Master took a deep breath. After informing the robot army, he quickly retreated from the battlefield to find a place to rest. The long, continuous battle had nearly exhausted him. He needed to rest and recover his strength as quickly as possible.
"Suit yourself. I was just giving a friendly warning. If you won't listen, there's nothing I can do, haha." Metal Knight chuckled once, then issued a command: "Attack the target."
A dozen robots simultaneously activated their weapon systems. The restraints on their shoulder-mounted missiles immediately released. At the same time, the armor on their chests slid open, revealing several barrels resembling rocket launchers.
"Incendiary munitions ready!"
"Target locked!"
"Missiles, launch!!"
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The muzzles on their bodies fired in unison. The continuous explosions were deafening. Dozens of missiles let out sharp whistles as they streaked through the air, drawing white trails as they shot toward the mysterious being.
Boom! Boom!
Sparks flew in all directions as flames raged. The solid incendiary missiles specially developed by Metal Knight instantly blossomed like bewitchingly beautiful fireworks. With a great 'whoosh', the unidentified mysterious being was engulfed in flames, burning fiercely. From a distance, it looked like a lava giant, with dragons of fire slithering all over its body.
Hoo hoo!
Because Tatsumaki was too close, sparks splattered near her. She frowned, and with a wave of her small hand, a whirlwind immediately formed around her, blowing away the sparks and ash. Not a single speck touched her. However, the fiercely burning giant emanated an extremely high temperature that made her small face flush red, forcing her to float further away.
Bang! Bang!
The unidentified giant lowered its head to look at its burning body, then immediately ignored it and continued to advance, sweeping through a swath of buildings and trampling numerous nearby roads.
"This thing... feels no pain at all." Tanktop Master watched from a distance as the giant became a ball of fire, his expression grim. No matter what damage the giant sustained, it remained completely unfazed, never letting out a single whimper or scream of pain, leaving them at a loss.
The solid incendiary agent burned for ten to twenty minutes. As time passed, the unidentified giant collapsed. Engulfed by the roaring flames, it was slowly incinerated into a pile of ash. A gentle breeze swept by, scattering the ashes, as if the giant had been completely annihilated.
"Did we succeed?"
Tanktop Master couldn't be sure. They had pulverized the giant's body multiple times, only for it to repeatedly reform, crushing their hope and confidence each time.
"Someone burned to ash shouldn't be able to recover, right?" Metal Knight's ice-cold, stiff, electronically synthesized voice came from a robot. "If it can still recover, I don't know what method we should use to eliminate it."
"Just because you can't do something, don't lump me in with you." Tatsumaki tossed her head and snorted. "Give me some time, and I'll sever its limbs and pin them down in four different places. We'll see how it recovers then."
"Ahem, has the mysterious being already been eliminated?"
Just then, King and the others arrived. Seeing the ground covered in black ash, Silverfang looked at Tatsumaki and the other two with a puzzled expression.
Child Emperor licked his lollipop and said helplessly, "I wasted my day off and ran all this way for nothing!" He looked up at the robots in the sky, his eyes shifting slightly. "So, Doctor, you came too. That's rare."
"I take people's money to solve their problems," Metal Knight said matter-of-factly in his mechanical voice.
"Oh, so that's it. And here I thought you came to test new weapons, Doctor!" Child Emperor teased with a grin.
"Hmph, I suppose you could call it testing new weapons!" Metal Knight did not deny it.
Puri-Puri Prisoner clenched his fists and said earnestly, "How dare it interrupt my honeymoon with Sonic? I was looking forward to giving it a good thrashing! Hmph, to think it would be eliminated before I got the chance."
"King, I didn't expect you to come too. Hmph, this battle doesn't need you at all." Tatsumaki put her hands on her hips and glared fiercely at King. "I'm more than enough for this!"
Bang looked at Tatsumaki strangely. "Tatsumaki, my girl, why is your face so red from looking at King? Are you shy?"
"Get lost! Silverfang, believe it or not, I'll smack you with a tornado?" Tatsumaki shouted in a flustered rage.
"Hey, don't let your guard down. The mysterious being... isn't dead."
King couldn't be bothered to argue with Tatsumaki. His gaze was profound as he stared at the pile of ash. The reason he was certain the mysterious being wasn't dead was that the system hadn't prompted him to convert any cards, which meant it hadn't truly died.
"What? The mysterious being isn't dead?"
Everyone's gaze fell on King, full of bewilderment.
"Mm, see for yourselves!"
King pointed at the ashes drifting toward a certain spot. "The mysterious being... is recovering."
Everyone looked where King was pointing. Sure enough, countless tiny flecks of ash were rapidly converging, forming a black sandstorm in an instant, from which the giant's silhouette gradually began to emerge.
"God says, the earth gives birth to all things, it is the mother of all..."
"Hiss, is this thing unkillable?!"
