With the sound of a beep, the whole terrain was taken over by a red light.
"I think you've noticed by now." Alexander said. "But they can't hear us, so it's impossible to surrender once inside the arena. That means you're going to die no matter what you do. There's no point begging for their mercy."

The same sound filled Ryan's ears as the arena was painted yellow.
"That being so." He continued. "If you want to surrender, just say so now and I'll give you a painless death. I swear by the name of my ancestors and my gods that I won't be cruel to such a young and talented boy. You can believe me, you won't even feel any discomfort."

Suddenly, green took over the arena and quickly disappeared. Simultaneously only two afterimages could be seen going deeper into the forest.
The eyes of the audience were dragged along with them.
Dozens of rusty weapons passed like shadows by them as the two pairs of eyes chose their first companion to reap their opponent's life.
