Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: A Sorry State, Strength

Both of them were equally disheveled, their ragged clothes riddled with holes large and small. They were also covered in suspicious bloodstains; an uninformed observer might have thought a monster had arrived.

They hadn't had a change of clothes since leaving the basement. Too busy surviving, they had completely neglected their appearance. Besides, the timing was never right, and they paid little mind to the scrapes and tumbles they took along the way.

As a result, they had become caked in filth.

"HAHAHA." Luo Yunxi couldn't help but point at her companion and burst out laughing, laughing so hard that tears streamed down her face.

Then, she slumped against the wall and began to weep.

It had been an incredibly difficult journey for two young girls!

Feng Moxi shook her head. She brought out two buckets of water she'd taken from the small supermarket, and the two of them quickly washed up.

In the end, with no change of clothes available, they had no choice but to put their wretched outfits back on.

Luo Yunxi settled into a corner of the room and began her physical exercises.

Suddenly, Feng Moxi remembered something. She took out three or four Demon Cores from her pocket and handed them over, saying, "These Demon Cores contain a small amount of energy. Hold them in your palm, feel the flow of energy, and try to absorb it.

I can't explain exactly how to do it. You'll have to figure it out for yourself. But one thing is certain: as long as you absorb the energy from the Demon Cores, you'll eventually be able to advance."

In her past life, Feng Moxi had a strength mutation. A Basic-level Superpower User could advance after absorbing about a hundred Demon Cores, but for her, even a thousand might not have been enough.

Despite trying many methods, she could only watch as others reached the peak step by step, while she, despite putting in ten or a hundred times the effort, still slowly faded into obscurity. Such was the tragedy of the weak.

"You can level up with these?" Luo Yunxi leaped up, joyfully accepted the Demon Cores, and held them up high. She observed them carefully and discovered a faint fluorescent light that flashed and vanished within the cores.

If you didn't look closely, you would never see the secrets within.

"If I use them, what will you use?"

"I have more!"

Luo Yunxi was touched. She hadn't expected Feng Moxi to give her the best without any reservations. Her admiration for her grew even stronger.

An involuntary smile spread across her face.

"I'll definitely work hard on my Cultivation."

Feng Moxi nodded and sat cross-legged on the bed. Her fingers intertwined as she rapidly formed several handprints. With palms facing upward, she slowly guided an invisible stream of Powerful Energy into her meridians, gradually sinking into a state of meditation.

As time went on, the golden gas became denser and richer. After a few Circulations, her aura stabilized, and she slowly guided the Powerful Energy back to her Dantian.

She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but during her Cultivation today, the energy in the air seemed purer than it had been yesterday.

It was much easier to refine and absorb.

"Absolute Kill..." Feng Moxi silently recited the name of the technique. 'Rise from desperation, reborn through slaughter... Is it because of this Apocalypse?'

Luo Yunxi watched Feng Moxi enter her state of Cultivation.

Copying her, Luo Yunxi placed her hands on her knees, palms facing up, each clutching a Demon Core. She tried to focus her Power, but the Demon Cores remained completely still.

Luo Yunxi focused her Power again and again until she was exhausted, but the fluorescent glow within the Demon Cores merely continued its slow, internal circulation, showing no sign of being subdued.

She wiped the sweat from her brow and rested for a moment. Then, she summoned two water beads to envelop the Demon Cores. Focusing her Power again, she felt a faint, warm current seep into her palms.

The light within the Demon Cores vanished, and their hard shells crumbled to ash in an instant.

Luo Yunxi was stunned for a moment, then overcome with joy. 'I did it! I successfully absorbed the energy from the Demon Core!' She felt as if she were brimming with Primordial Energy.

She clutched the remaining Demon Cores in her hand and, with a broad smile, began her Cultivation.

Feng Moxi's Cultivation session grew deeper and more profound.

At this moment, her whole body was relaxed. Streams of warmth traveled slowly along her meridians, and it was as if she could see countless motes of light slowly converging on her body.

The sensation was incredibly welcoming. Countless specks of faint white light danced around her, flowing and drifting, slowly moving toward her from all directions.

For some reason, Feng Moxi had the urge to touch them.

At the thought, her body relaxed involuntarily, filled with a sense of warmth and joy. The intangible motes of light began to seep into her body through its various acupoints, her skin, the point between her eyebrows, and the palms of her hands.

Her body was like a vast net, slowly drawing in the particles of light.

The flow increased, growing faster and more voluminous, until it seemed to saturate every inch of her skin.

All her meridians seemed to swell, as if streams of invisible power were about to erupt from within, bringing an indescribable sense of exhilaration.

Suddenly, there was a soft POP.

'I did it! I really did it!' After ceaseless Cultivation day and night, she had finally broken through to the Innate Realm. She now possessed a seemingly inexhaustible supply of Power.

Although it was far from enough, at least the first step was a success.

Feng Moxi willed it, and her spirit body entered the space. The broken sword in her hand no longer rejected her; it now emanated a faint golden light as she brandished it.

As her consciousness strengthened, the broken sword began to dance in her hand of its own accord, its golden light shining in all directions.

Her movements became increasingly fluid, as if the broken sword had been tailor-made for her.

Its light dispelled layer after layer of dark clouds.

The entire dark space gradually brightened, revealing a layer of grayish-white gas and the yellow earth below.

At this moment, she seemed to be standing on a large, isolated island, surrounded by a flowing river. A faint layer of mist rose gracefully from the azure water's surface.

The water encircled the island, making it feel like a paradise hidden from the world.

An inconspicuous small wooden cabin stood in the center of the island, looking solitary. But surrounding the cabin was vast and fertile land, exuding the rich fragrance of soil.

"It's so big...!"

Feng Moxi was astonished. 'So after breaking through to the Innate Realm, I can actually plant things in this dark space! I won't have to worry about food and clothing in the future!'

'In my past life, I don't think even Wan Wanxin was this lucky.'

It made her want to laugh maniacally.

Just then, she remembered something, and her expression changed to one of shock. 'Where did all the supplies I collected go?'

On the vast island, there was only a solitary wooden cabin.

Unwilling to give up, she withdrew her consciousness and then re-entered, but still saw not a single item.

But with a single thought, she could instantly summon any desired item.

'What on earth is going on?'

Feng Moxi had no time to ponder it. She rushed toward the cabin and pushed open the wooden door. The first thing she saw was a low table with the broken sword resting upon it.

And a seemingly ancient, bluish-white Jade Scroll.

Across from the low table, two meditation cushions sat on the floor.

Otherwise, the room was empty.

But none of this caught Feng Moxi's attention. Her gaze was drawn to a small door on the side of the wooden cabin.

'The secret must be in there!'
