The Port Amoria night was brilliant and dazzling. Their car moved smoothly along the bustling streets. Inside, the two sat in silence.
Yara Quillan stole a glance at Henry Lester, then pouted and looked away.
'What I did today doesn't really count as getting into trouble, does it? But why does it feel even more serious than if I had?'
The silence stretched on, and it wasn't until Henry Lester stopped at a red light that his cold voice finally broke the quiet inside the car. "Why were you dancing there?"
"..." Yara Quillan had no answer to that question.
Why did she go?
'Am I supposed to tell him it's because I'm broke? That I needed to earn money for tuition and for his birthday present?'
"Don't go to that kind of place again." Henry Lester looked at Yara Quillan with a hint of resignation and tucked a stray lock of her hair behind her ear. 'Have I been too indulgent with my little thing?'
