After returning to the pit garage, Massa stepped out of his car, pulled off his gloves, and walked straight over to Wu Shi. He patted him twice on the shoulder and gave him a thumbs up.
"You really outdid yourself!"
"Heh, they drove way too conservatively," Wu Shi said with a grin. There was no point in false modesty right now.
"Beating two world champions to snatch pole position..." Massa trailed off, a hint of bitterness in his voice. He, too, had once been on the brink of becoming a world champion.
But the past was in the past, and Massa had no reason to dwell on it. He turned his head and said, "Give it your all tomorrow! The victory is right there for the taking."
"Of course I will!"
Wu Shi nodded. He would fight tooth and nail just for second place, let alone first.
Once all the drivers and cars had completed the weigh-in, everyone headed over to the media interview zone.
