"I was in such a hurry I forgot." Seraphina Ashworth nuzzled against his chest. "Caden, Trudy said something happened to my mom. I was just heading to the living room to see what was wrong."
Caden Reginald's nose twitched. He caught the faint scent of blood on her. His dark eyes deepened as he held her close and sped toward the living room.
"Seraphina, what are you doing here?" Jasper Ashworth asked urgently as soon as they walked into the living room.
Seraphina Ashworth's clear eyes scanned the living room. She realized her mother really wasn't there. "Brother, where's Mom? What happened to her?"
Jasper Ashworth thought Seraphina was referring to their mother's car accident and quickly reassured her. "It's okay. Mom was just in a minor collision and sprained her ankle. It's nothing serious. Dad already went upstairs to check on her."
Hearing this, Seraphina Ashworth pressed her lips together tightly. 'Impossible. Whatever made Trudy so anxious has to be more than just this.'
