"It's nothing, Mom. My car just got into a little fender bender on the way here. I was just a bit shaken up," Gemma Montague said with a gentle smile. Every frown and smile was a perfect imitation of Sylvia Blaine; she had clearly put in a great deal of effort.
Hearing about the crash, Miss Ashworth started in alarm and quickly looked her over. "Are you hurt anywhere? Should I call Paul to come back?"
"No, don't, Mom. I'm fine. The car just got a scratch, and I twisted my ankle, that's all." Gemma Montague shook her head quickly, afraid Miss Ashworth would call Paul Ashworth back on the spot.
'I'm not yet familiar with where Paul Ashworth and Sylvia Blaine's room is. I have to use this chance, while most of the Ashworths are out, to quickly figure out the layout of the house.'
"As long as it's nothing serious," Miss Ashworth said, sighing in relief.
Gemma Montague's hands were clenched tightly as she sized up the living room from the corner of her eye.
"Ah, Caden is here."
