Linda Quinn shot Sidney Winters a look of displeasure and said sarcastically, "Sidney, what's the meaning of this? Are you even part of the Winters family? Elara is in such a state, yet you're still defending Seraphina Ashworth. What are you playing at?"
"Aunt, I don't mean anything by it. I'm just telling it like it is," Sidney Winters said calmly. "If Elara hadn't provoked Seraphina Ashworth time and again, she wouldn't have been injured so severely."
In truth, the majority of Elara's severe internal injuries were from a single palm strike by Seraphina Ashworth's fiancé. That strike was purely to vent his anger on Seraphina's behalf. Had Elara not been so insolent, she wouldn't have been beaten to within an inch of her life.
"Sidney Winters, you..." Linda Quinn was so furious her voice shot up.
"Enough! All of you, shut your mouths!" Mr. Winters's face was ashen with rage as he slammed his palm on the table, startling Linda Quinn into silence.
