Actually, Ryan Sterling had also noticed earlier that her voice sounded off.
But he figured it was the middle of the night back home, so she was probably still half-asleep. It would be normal for her voice to be a bit hoarse.
When Evelyn Grant didn't say anything, Ryan Sterling grew anxious again.
"It's okay, take your time. Did something happen again? Is someone giving you trouble?" He paused, then asked tentatively, "Did your mother find something out? Did she scold you?"
"No."
"Then what is it?" Ryan Sterling was so anxious he wished he could fly directly back to Evelyn Grant's side. "Tell me!"
In front of her, Ryan Sterling couldn't maintain a shred of composure.
His anxiety was written all over his face.
"N-no, it's nothing. I just… miss you a little."
'She misses me?'
For a moment, Ryan Sterling didn't know what to say.
He'd never expected to hear those words.
"I'm really not used to you not being around."
