Evelyn Grant always acted like an outsider.
It felt like there was always something between them, a barrier he could never break through.
"It's really nothing."
It wasn't that Evelyn Grant didn't want to tell him. 'But... how can I tell Ryan Sterling about this?'
'Am I supposed to tell him my colleagues suspect I'm having an affair with the head of the law firm?'
She just couldn't bring herself to say the words.
"It's okay if you don't want to talk about it. I won't force you."

After the prenatal check-up, they left the hospital.
Maybe she was just exhausted, or maybe it was because she could truly relax by Ryan Sterling's side.

Listening to the sound of her steady breathing, Ryan Sterling ended up driving around the city several times, unwilling to park and wake her.
