"Sis, Mom's heart is acting up again today. I noticed she looked pale, but when I asked her about it, she wouldn't say anything! I'm worried we'll delay her treatment. Can you try talking to her? I have fewer classes tomorrow and the day after, so I can take her to the hospital."
Hearing about her mother's health, Evelyn Grant immediately grew tense.
"I'll head back right now! Is it serious?"
"No, don't, Sis! If you come back, Mom will be even more reluctant to go to the hospital. She's always worried about you missing work because of her health! Just talk to her, but make it sound casual."
Alex Grant knew his mother's temperament well. If she found out he had called his sister without her permission, she would be angry with him too.
"I understand. I'll talk to her."
Just as Evelyn Grant was about to hang up, she heard her brother ask, "Sis, your relationship with my brother-in-law... have you two made up now?"
That was a difficult question to answer.
