Since her mother had said that, Evelyn Grant had no choice but to let go of her suspicions.
"Maybe I've just been a bit emotional lately. I shouldn't be overthinking it. Mom, just wait for me at home! I'll grab a few things and be right back."
Chloe Shea quickly agreed. "Okay, okay!"
After hanging up with her mother, Evelyn Grant made a point of calling her law firm. Once she confirmed there was nothing that needed her attention, she got in a car and headed to her mother's place.
On the way, a notification popped up on her phone.
It was from Ryan Sterling.
Evelyn Grant tapped it open.
She thought he was asking where she was, or when she'd be back.
But it was neither.
Ryan Sterling was simply asking about her well-being.
