Chapter 96 - Two Bastards Cosplaying as Living Saints

"My, my—Sister Lion, you're fast!"

"To think you arrived with a single teleport... having this Warp ability makes reinforcing any battlefield so much more convenient!"

"Haha!" Lion chuckled, hands on her hips.

"Sister Sanguinius, aren't you the same?"

"You just walked right through the Anywhere Door. It really is ridiculously handy."

"Mm..." Sanguinius nodded. She glanced first at Doraemon's Anywhere Door, then at her sons who had yet to cross over.

"What's wrong? Do you want them to come over? They can just step through; there won't be any issues!"

Lion assumed Sanguinius was worried about Doraemon's gadget malfunctioning. Sanguinius, however, shook her head. She wasn't worried about the gadget.

"Since it's Father's item, it naturally wouldn't have any issues!"

"It's just that I can't bring all of my sons here to reinforce this place!"

"The Red Tear led a massive Imperial fleet here; it can't be left without a commander."

"Dante is my main anchor right now, my proxy. He needs to take these sons and get some actual work done!"

"They might still be needed later to seize the Blackstone Fortress."

"If I let them land on the surface right now, it might mess up the plan!"

"I see!"

Hearing Sanguinius's line of tactical thinking, Lion nodded approvingly.

Sanguinius was right. The main force was meant to fight the decisive battle, not to act as mere field reinforcements.

If she brought all her sons down to the surface, how would they fight the battle to board the Blackstone Fortress?

Lion remembered that their task this time was to capture the Blackstone Fortress. If they failed, they might get slapped upside the head by Mom again.

As the sharpest blade in the Emperor's hand, Lion didn't want to leave her current mother with the impression that she was incompetent.

"By the way, how are we going to blend in with the defenders now?"

"If we just jump straight into the fight, won't we be branded as heretics?"

"You don't need to worry about that!"

Sanguinius maintained a gentle, benevolent smile, spreading her wings as if hinting at something.

Lion looked at the massive wings and suddenly remembered that the Imperium had a title called "Living Saint."

Living Saints were regarded as the Emperor's divine chosen daughters and were held in extremely high esteem by the Ecclesiarchy.

It seemed they could use the Ecclesiarchy to endorse them. After all, strictly speaking, they really were the Emperor's angels, the Emperor's daughters—not a single problem with that claim!

"But I don't have wings!" Lion replied helplessly.

Sanguinius said, "No problem, I'll install them for you!"

Plucking one of her own feathers, Sanguinius handed it to Lion.

Then, she whispered the transformation incantation into Lion's ear.

"Wait!" The moment she heard the phrase, Lion realized something was wrong.

This incantation felt completely off. Why did it sound so embarrassing?

"Is there a problem?"

Sanguinius kept her smile, continuing to entrap her sibling using extremely devious methods.

Lion: "..."

If things went according to Sanguinius's scheme, it wouldn't be long before the Lion King, Lion El'Jonson, would be pulling off Pretty Cure combat moves in a magical girl outfit.

When the time came, Sanguinius might secretly record it to build up popularity for her dear sister.

When the Warp Concert began, Magical Girl Lion would surely be a massive hit!

"Pfft!"

Hearing Sanguinius's chant, Caleb was already laughing out loud.

What do you mean, "As the eldest divine child of the Emperor, I shall destroy you in the name of the Emperor!"?

And what was with "O Great Emperor, grant me power—Transform~"?

To be honest, hearing it just once made Caleb want to burst out laughing. Anyone who didn't know better would think this was a kids' TV channel, not Warhammer 40k.

While the two Primarchs were still wasting time, Guilliman—the least physically suited among the three sisters—finally made it to the portal opening.

Guilliman was about to leap out of the portal to keep up with her sisters' rhythm.

However, the second Guilliman jumped, Lion pushed her right back in.

"Guilliman, don't get involved in this. The two of us are enough!"

"Sanguinius and I won't be able to spare any attention in the upcoming battle. If you get hot-headed and throw your life away, it'll be a huge pain for us!"

Guilliman: "Am I really that weak?"

As the portal vanished before her eyes, Guilliman suddenly felt a sense of abandonment.

You bastards! Fighting without calling me, leaving me out of the fun!

Is this still my good sister Sanguinius? Is this still my good sister Lion?

"Lord Guilliman, I believe Lady Sanguinius and the others are right."

"Our priority now is to assemble our forces and bring the reinforcements over. Leave the rest to those two Primarchs. Their combat abilities are immense, so you don't need to worry!"

The moment Sicarius finished speaking, Guilliman glared at him.

Guilliman puffed out her cheeks and muttered directly at Sicarius, "What? Even you think I'm weak?"

"Even though Mom doesn't hit people... if you think I'm useless, I wouldn't mind hitting you once!"

Thwack!

Guilliman gave Sicarius a sharp flick to the forehead as a warning.

That single flick immediately struck a chord of deep guilt within Sicarius.

It was rare for Guilliman to lose her temper with her own children; in truth, this was only the second time she had gotten angry with her loyal sons.

The last time was when her mother died in battle. Guilliman had flown into a rage back then, wanting nothing more than to execute the Company Master responsible for the event.

Of course, once the anger passed, Guilliman calmed down.

Upon cooling off, she quickly understood her sisters' intentions.

Thinking about it carefully, it made sense.

What she excelled at was logistics and mass force production.

While she had no trouble fighting on the front lines, her true strength lay in command, not in stepping down into the mud to brawl.

If she personally joined the fray, her effectiveness wouldn't match up to her two sisters.

After all, their current abilities were ridiculous: one had point-to-point teleportation at will, while the other had wide-area AOE attacks.

With those two absurd cheats storming the battlefield, there would be nothing left for her to do. Was she supposed to just stand there chopping enemies down one by one after everything was already dead?

"Sigh... I'm still too weak. When will I ever awaken a Warp essence suited for actual combat?"

Caleb chuckled softly without saying a word.

Based on Guilliman's Warp essence, Caleb knew that her wish would likely go unfulfilled for a long time.

Guilliman was clearly specialized in governance.

Combat was merely a secondary attribute; if it ever came down to Guilliman having to fight personally, it would mean the situation had become dire indeed.

Of course, when necessary, Caleb wouldn't need Guilliman to step up either. He would more likely deploy a far superior chess piece to obliterate the enemy directly.

Just like One-Punch Man Saitama last time—as long as the pieces and bodyguards were strong enough, Guilliman wouldn't ever need to raise her hand again in this lifetime.

Meanwhile, having arrived at the Cadia battlefield, the two Primarchs, Sanguinius and Lion, immediately began their cosplay.

Using the alias "Laili," Lion charged straight into a religious order on the verge of falling and transformed right on the spot!

Under the watchful eyes of a large group of Battle Sisters, she shouted that utterly embarrassing, magical-girl-style chant!

"You humble, despicable traitors, I shall destroy you in the name of the Emperor!"

"O Great Emperor, grant me power—Transform~"

A flash of golden light streaked across—and sure enough, Lion actually transformed.

However, this transformation didn't grant her a pair of wings as expected.

Instead, she was clad in an extremely bizarre magical girl outfit, complete with a tiara radiating a magical aura.

"Wait, this isn't right!"

"Where's my sword?"

"Why did it turn into a wand?"

"What is this sissified outfit? Why does it feel even more embarrassing than the armored dress from before?!"

"Pfft!"

The devious Sanguinius couldn't hold back a chuckle. She then turned her gaze toward a figure in the distance.

On a distant ridge, Quick Jarvis also noticed that the glamorous angel had spotted him.

That holy aura was something any demon would detest, yet to this current chess piece, it felt immensely familiar and comforting.

"Wonderful, absolutely wonderful!"

"What a brilliant plan!"

"Wielding magic while engaged in melee—that is the true essence!"

"Jarvis—next, we just need to follow that lion around and hack things up!"

"Hehehe!" Having adjusted to this body, the bloodthirsty Jarvis couldn't help muttering, "That's fine. I must chop down at least 888,888 traitors."

Quick Jarvis was currently leading the routed troops to organize a defensive line.

When he saw two Living Saints suddenly appear on the battlefield, the previously sagging morale instantly surged.

"Soldiers! The God-Emperor has blessed us! He has sent his daughters to join the battle!"

"From this moment on, every step you take is for the Emperor!"

"The Emperor has sent His angels, His daughters, and they are watching you right now! For the return to the Golden Throne, for the Emperor!"

"For the Golden Throne! For the Emperor!"

A thunderous roar erupted from the demoralized defensive line like a tidal wave.

The Battle Sister units who were originally holding out here froze in place.

Outsiders might think there were only two Living Saints present right now.

But to the Ecclesiarchy, there were already three Living Saints on this planet.

That's right—Celestine had already arrived.

Living Saint Celestine had long answered the Emperor's call, reincarnating onto this very world.

"Wait a moment... why is this daughter green?"

"Aren't the Emperor's angels supposed to look like that instead?"

A priest voiced his doubt. Facing such skepticism, Sanguinius offered an even more overwhelming response.

Sanguinius descended like a warrior deity onto the battlefield. With just a single throw of her spear, it struck like an orbital bombardment, shattering a massive horde of Chaos forces in front of them.

"Who says the Emperor's daughters must all look identical?!"

"How could the Emperor's majestic power ever be something you could dare to fathom?!"

With those words, everyone's hearts trembled.

The current Sanguinius was not only beloved by all, but every word she spoke carried an inexplicable persuasion that made people want to believe her.

As long as the target was human, they couldn't help but hang on her every word.

Even traitors—when berated by Sanguinius—would feel their hearts tremble in fear.

The current Sanguinius was a living book of holy scriptures.

Every word she uttered was divine truth, capable of shaking the human soul.

"My apologies, I was rash!"

"Great Living Saint, please lead us to victory!"

All doubts evaporated under Sanguinius's glorious descent. Lion, who had been set up, could only hide behind Sanguinius, sulking in silence.

In truth, Lion knew very well that this outfit made her look suspiciously like a traitor.

However, with Sanguinius vouching for her, there was no way she could be considered one.

"Can this thing actually be used?"

Lion looked suspiciously at the magic wand in her hand, feeling it was no different from a toy.

Since this wasn't something granted by her Father, she genuinely didn't dare to use it blindly. What if it was some bizarre trick? Wouldn't she get completely screwed over?

Caleb sensed Lion's internal dilemma, so he snatched a magic wand from a magical girl figure in his room and threw it directly onto the battlefield.

Oh well, it was just a magical girl wand anyway. Figures like this were scattered all over his room, so snapping one off and tossing it in was trivial.

At the same time, he could activate his ability: Designation!

Pointing at the magic wand, Caleb declared, "You are a magic wand used by the Emperor during the 2k era!"

"The Emperor once used you back when He cosplayed!"

"Back then, the Emperor cross-dressed as a trap magical girl—you acquired divine power from the Emperor, capable of purifying demons and turning them toward the light!"

And so, Caleb threw the magic wand down, granting Lion a new artifact.

However, Caleb clearly hadn't specified the item's method of attack.

The moment Lion touched the artifact, enlightenment struck her.

"Whatever! Since it's something given by Father, it's definitely useful!"

"Who cares! The ones in front of me are traitors anyway—prepare to die!"

Just as everyone assumed the girl with the magic wand would adopt a Tzeentchian fighting style—hiding in the back and blasting magic—Lion grabbed the magical staff and charged forward, thrusting it like a spear.

With masterful martial skills, she impaled all the heretics in front of her like candied haws on a stick.

Even Chaos Astartes were no match for Lion in her current state.

Wearing high heels, Lion brought down a traitor with a single flying kick, smashing their head to pieces with a brutal downward swing of her staff.

The battlefield was drenched in blood, entirely devoid of any magical girl grace.

Yet the fighting style was unmistakably Pretty Cure—pure, bone-crunching, fist-to-flesh combat!

"Now that's more like it!"

An Inquisitor who previously harbored doubts felt relieved upon witnessing such brutal combat.

As long as she wasn't flying around slinging spells, it counted as a normal fighting style—the Imperial standard.

In the Imperium, even if you acquired a powerful magical staff, you had better grab it tight and charge in to smash heads.

Flying around in combat violated doctrine.

That kind of fighting style without martial honor was far too easily mistaken for heresy.

However, Lion's current approach strictly adhered to Imperial standards.

That's right—charge forward and beat them to death.

Even a Living Saint had to fight like this.

At that exact moment, another figure flew in from the horizon.

Her holy wings were much smaller than Sanguinius's, and the power she commanded paled in comparison.

Yet, this single Living Saint had saved countless Imperial worlds.

She had tirelessly worked for the Emperor for uncounted years.

Even now, she continued to devote herself entirely to serving humanity.

"Wait, what is that? An angel? I don't recall having any colleagues!"

"Did the Emperor see how tired I was and send a new coworker to assist me? Wait a minute, why does this coworker look so much grander than me?"

"That wing span is completely absurd!"

Celestine spotted Sanguinius in the distance at first glance.

Compared to those pristine, massive wings, her own felt like those of a wild duck swimming in water.

Comparison really was the thief of joy. If both were Living Saints, then... Celestine's small wings truly made her look delicate by comparison.

"Oh, a new sister has arrived!"

"Celestine, come over here!"

"We happen to have a new mission!"

While Celestine was still halfway there, Sanguinius flapped her giant wings and instantly flashed to her side.

Her speed was beyond anything humanly imaginable—coming to a complete stop instantly after moving at extreme velocity.

It directly defied the laws of physics, utterly mind-boggling.

"Y-You... are a Living Saint too?"

Celestine couldn't fathom how such an exquisitely beautiful woman could exist.

Her beauty defied verbal description, as if she were the most perfect human being in existence.

Even her words carried an inexplicable, magnetic warmth.

"Sanguinius, what are you doing?! I'm out front dealing damage, and you're over there hitting on girls?!"

Lion roared from the front line. She usually didn't curse, but seeing Sanguinius act like this made her want to blow her top!

It was bad enough that she had been turned into a magical girl forced into close-quarters brawling.

Now she was out front doing all the heavy lifting while Sanguinius was chatting someone up over there—what was the meaning of this?!

Are we brothers—no, sisters—or not?! Is this sisterhood over?!
