Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

As agreed, we spent another week killing tritons, after which we headed to the league to apply for a mission to help the military in Bo City. The result of two months of work was three million on my card, and Xu Zhaoting had a little over two million, if you add the money left from buying the artifact. I earned quite a bit of money on the black crane, I really won the lottery, otherwise it would have been about the same as Xu Zhaoting. By the way, I haven't seen these birds since.

As for my cultivation, I'm almost ready to unleash mid-level wind magic, only one star is left, but with space, it's bad, not a single star has come under my control. I also told Xu Zhaoting that I had broken through to the mid-level of wind about two weeks ago and plan to awaken a new element in Shanghai. Arriving at the league building, we found a free consultant slot.

"Hello, can I know if there are any missions to help the military in Bo City?" I asked, addressing a cute consultant girl.

"Yes, it's for beginner and higher hunters," The girl replied, checking the information on the computer.

"Please register us, the beginner hunter team Baofeng, members Jiaxing Yun and Xu Zhaoting," I said, handing our cards to the consultant girl.

"Okay, planned arrival time in Bo City?" The girl asked, entering the data from the cards into the computer.

"Tomorrow, ah yes, can you change the information on my card? Jiaxing Yun, cultivation initial level third stage wind to mid-level wind?" I asked, as I hadn't changed my information before.

"Yes, of course," The girl said, placing my card on a rectangular black stone and typing something on the computer.

"Jiaxing Yun, I must inform you that a high-ranking hunter requested information about you."

"Really? Why would such high-ranking hunters need that?" I was surprised, not understanding who it could be.

"I don't know, but according to the league's rules, if any information is requested about a hunter or a team, those about whom it is requested must be notified," The girl replied, after which she quickly started filling something out, and at the end handed us cards with a contract to join the military unit of Bo City as volunteer hunters. We were supposed to arrive at the location tomorrow.

We left the building around noon and immediately took a train to Shanghai. We arrived quickly and without problems, Xu Zhaoting went to find a room for the night, while I continued my journey to the suburbs, to the microdistrict of those affected by the tragedy in Bo City. Before that, I called Mo Jiaxin and warned him about my arrival. I didn't find the right apartment right away, as I had only been here for the second time, but after half an hour and a call to Mo Jiaxing, he met me and we went to their home together.

"Haha, you stayed here for such a short time and immediately ran off to become a hunter, you don't remember where we live?" Mo Jiaxing teased me slightly in a familiar way as we approached the right apartment.

"Well, I had to study a lot to achieve results and get into Mingzhu University, you yourself heard that to get there you need to pass a serious selection," I replied, slightly embarrassed and scratching my head.

"Yes, I understand, but you could have called us, we were worried, especially Jiaxing Xia, she was already going to ask Mo Fan to go after you," Mo Jiaxing said, opening the door.

"Jiaxing Xia, Jiaxing Yun is back!" He shouted joyfully, entering.

"What? Really?" A tender girlish voice was heard from the bedroom, and soon Jiaxing Xia herself drove out of it in a wheelchair. I didn't even have time to take off my shoes.

"Where have you been, why didn't you call us, Mo Fan and I were worried about you!" She started scolding me.

"I was near Suzhou, exterminating the giant tritons living there," I smiled awkwardly, then continued to justify myself, well, how can you not justify yourself when a beautiful girl is angry with you?

"I worked a lot, I hardly had time to call you, and besides, the connection was bad there."

"I see, and what's with your shoulder?" She asked, pointing to my right shoulder, which was slightly grazed by an orangutan. By the way, it's not healing well, and lately it's been burning in a bad way, sometimes.

"This?" I pointed to the bandage of bandages.

"Yes, I was injured in a fight with a monster. Can you take a look, you are a healing mage after all, right?"

"Let's go, I'm sure you only came for this," Jiaxing Xia replied, slightly pouting, returning to the bedroom.

"You talk for a while, and I'll make tea. Mo Fan should be back soon, he also wanted to see you, Jiaxing Yun," Mo Jiaxing said, heading to the kitchen. I hurried to follow Jiaxing Xia, she sat me on the bed and started examining my shoulder.

"Where did you get such a wound? And quite a strong poison got into the wound," Jiaxing Xia said, finishing her examination.

"When did you get this scratch?" She asked seriously, slightly pouting.

"About a week ago, can you pour this out?" I asked, with a slightly apologetic tone.

"No, I can only heal it slightly, but I can't remove this poison. Not now, but go to the hospital to a mid-level healing mage, he should help," Jiaxing Xia said, starting to use initial-level healing magic, gradually healing the wound.

Jiaxing Xia worked on my shoulder for about half an hour, during which time Mo Jiaxing managed to make tea, and Mo Fan was nowhere to be seen. For another hour, I sat with the two of them, talking about various topics, I also said that I was heading to Bo City for a mission to help the military. After that, Mo Fan finally arrived, Jiaxing Xia went to her room to do her own thing, and Mo Jiaxing had to leave for business, so we were left alone.

"What have you been doing these two months, didn't you get into Mingzhu without me?" I asked Mo Fan with a slight smile.

"Haha, no, not yet, I decided to cultivate for a year, to control all the stars. I need twice as much time for this," Mo Fan replied dryly, shrugging.

"And how are your successes? Look, you won't be able to catch up with me," Mo Fan teased me slightly.

"Yes, you better train, or I'll overtake you, I'm already a mid-level mage and I've also awakened lightning," I said confidently with a hint of pride in my voice. If this guy knew the real situation, he would probably be as broken as Xu Zhaoting after his duel with Yu An. So it's better not to tell him about it, I need him to be confident, a capricious type, ready to go through fire, water, and the pyramids of Giza.

"I don't believe it. Ha, and I awakened summoning magic! Let's see how my summoned beast tears you apart," Mo Fan replied, smirking at me again.

"Wait, don't you awaken two elements? What's the second one, come on, spill it. Well, rather the fourth one, lightning, fire, summoning, and what else?" I asked, smiling slyly, looking him in the eyes.

"What? What nonsense are you talking about, huh?" Mo Fan asked, looking at me incredulously, with slightly bewildered eyes.

"Yes, you definitely have four elements, tell me at least, your brother, you know I won't tell anyone?" I asked, taking a sip of tea from my mug.

"No, definitely three elements," Mo Fan said confidently, but with a slightly trembling voice.

"Yes, I see you're hiding something when it comes to four elements," I said, leaning back in my chair.

"Alright, you figured it out, I'll tell you only because I haven't revealed it before. My fourth element is shadow, or rather the third, I awakened it first," Mo Fan said, giving in to my pressure.

"I see, now you can hide, ha," I chuckled.

"Just be careful with light mages, they might sense you, no matter how you hide. Mo Jiaxing said that your teacher Tan Yue called you, after that you left for a whole day, what happened?" I asked conspiratorially, leaning on the table. Mo Jiaxing really said that, I specifically asked him about it.

"And I also learned from Jiaxing Xia that you went to Haizhou, and nearby a fire seed was found, and then it disappeared, am I not mistaken?"

"What, how did you find all this out?" Mo Fan asked, slightly shocked.

"I'm a hunter, you should know that you can find out anything in the guild?" I stared at him in surprise.

"So you're saying I took that seed?" Mo Fan asked suspiciously.

"Didn't you? Your fire element has changed, you need to hide your powers better," I said, shrugging.

"Tell me what happened and don't lie, I'll know if you lie," I smiled broadly.

"Alright, but to no one," Mo Fan said, slightly offended and upset, and then told the story, almost exactly repeating the events of the light novel, as far as I can judge.

"I see, you had fun," I said when Mo Fan finished his story.

"And how are your cultivation successes, can you unleash mid-level magic?"

"Yes, but only fire, in lightning I've only controlled ten stars," Mo Fan answered calmly.

"And I haven't touched the new elements yet, I decided to learn to use mid-level magic first."

"I see, I'm heading to Bo City, to the monkey in the military unit, should I give him anything?" I asked, getting up from the table.

"Yes, no, tell him to become a mid-level mage faster, otherwise he'll remain useless," Mo Fan chuckled, also getting up from the table.

"Understood. Here, take this, a hundred thousand, part of my earnings at Lake Taihu, consider it a thank you for sheltering me," I said, taking money out of my pocket that I had withdrawn from my card in advance. Why did I do that? Well, it's a gesture of goodwill, it should strengthen our relationship and show that I care about them and consider them my family. After all, I want to raise Mo Fan not just as a savior of the world, but also as my gorilla bodyguard who covers me from all troubles.

After a brief argument, he took the money, and I soon left, heading to the hospital. I really didn't want to get a severe infection from that orangutan's poison, it's just strange that I walked around for a week as if nothing had happened, although perhaps it's some kind of long-acting poison, but then what's the point of it? In the hospital, I had to spend about thirty thousand for treatment! Damn, how expensive mid-level healing mages are! I need to hurry Jiaxing Xia with her development to get a free one for myself. It's a pity that I have to wait four or five more years for the Parthenon herbs. Also, at the hospital, they told me that it's not poison as such, but a substance secreted by sharp-horned orangutans when they have some kind of disease, which is why they are driven out of the herd. Now it's clear why he was alone.

After the hospital, I went to the market before it closed and spent all my accumulated money, a little less than three million, to buy six disposable soul vessels of the servant level. In general, all soul vessels are divided into three types. The first are disposable, which I bought, they can only hold one soul of the corresponding level, after which the vessel becomes unusable. But they are the cheapest, about five hundred thousand each. The second type is reusable vessels, which can be used many times and their price is equal to the souls of the existing level. And the third type is the rarest, evolving vessels. Bright examples of the third type are: my fang, Mo Fan's talisman, and Zhao Manyan's future fish. This type is the rarest and there is almost no information about it, I only know what was in the light novel, and from books I learned that such things exist, period. The third type is almost impossible to find even at world-class auctions.

After the market, I still had to go to the hunter's league and add information that I had awakened lightning magic. Why lightning, I chose it as my mid-level element. Well, think about it yourself, a mid-level mage who has awakened space sounds stupid, but at the same time, if it's true, then this mage is damn cool. And I also needed to legalize my lightning so that I could use it without fear, and space will still be practically useless for a long time, even after releasing magic.

"Hello, can I change the data on my card?" I asked the consultant girl, I wonder if I'm so lucky, she was even cuter than the previous one! Silky black hair fell on her shoulders, her eyes were a delicate blue, and her chest made it impossible to look away!

"Yes, please, what changes do you want to make?" She asked in a gentle, beautiful voice.

"Add the second element, lightning," I replied, tearing myself away from admiring her.

"Can I have a document certifying the awakening?" The girl asked, taking the card from my hands.

"It was the awakening itself, during a thunderstorm while hunting," I answered calmly, a pre-prepared answer.

"Are you busy after work today?"

"I see, here, put your hand on the stone and direct the maximum amount of your lightning stardust energy into it," She answered dryly, as if she hadn't heard my question, but then added with a smile.

"Your pickup line is quite cliché, try again if you want me to agree."

"Okay," I replied to everything she said, placing my hand on the stone, but I directed only a drop of energy, after all, I don't have stardust, but a nebula. And what a stubborn lady? No, just say you're not busy?
