Chapter 12 - Chapter 11

The lightning energy around Mo Fan was infected with his anger and formed furious lightning strikes hitting the ground around him. Mo Fan's stars, feeling his anger, gathered into a star path without any command; it was a complete connection and mutual understanding between the mage and his stars, which happens quite rarely and only due to strong emotions. Mo Fan raised his hand, in which a huge amount of lightning energy was concentrated; I would say it slightly exceeded the lightning magic of the third stage of the initial level, but only slightly.

Meanwhile, Yu An, preparing a new freezing field spell, saw this scene, lost control of his stars and interrupted the formation of the star path. Mo Fan then unleashed the lightning energy directed at Yu An. The power of this attack was great; simple ice armor, designed for initial level mages and those who had just reached the middle level, could not withstand the power of this lightning. It was clear that each lightning strike caused Yu An immense pain, and his whole body twitched in convulsions. After a couple of seconds, it was all over, and Yu An collapsed on the ground unconscious. Everyone around was in indescribable shock and their mouths hung open; a smile played on my face!

"He... How could he become a mid-level mage?! It's impossible! Absolutely impossible! Even the fastest cultivators, using all resources, couldn't reach such a level in three years!" Mu Zhuo Yun shouted, standing up from his chair, unable to believe his eyes. Calm down, everything is possible, I'm here.

Everyone around was still recovering; I looked at my classmates, who were all in complete confusion and kept rubbing their eyes, not believing what was happening. Two stood out among them: Kun San, who stared wildly at what was happening, but at the same time sighed with relief, thanks to the improved hearing of a mid-level mage and the fact that he listened closely, I heard him muttering: "How good it is that I didn't argue. You can't argue with Jiaxing Yun. You can't, you can't, you can't! He definitely sees the raging ones, definitely!" Yes, I was almost discovered; of course, if he hadn't gone a little crazy, I would have had to be afraid, but who would believe him? The second was Xu Zhao Ting; he literally softened in his seat, staring at the field without blinking, his face showed no emotion, he just couldn't do it, the only thing he said was: "Lost, I've finally lost."

Turning my head slightly and looking back, I saw Mu Ning Xue, on whose icy face emotions of relief and surprise were clearly visible. After that, I shifted my gaze to the team of city hunters, wanting to fully enjoy their emotions, as neither the web novel nor the anime paid much attention to this.

"Hey... Doesn't his lightning magic remind you of someone?" asked the fat mage, thinking deeply.

"You noticed too? Fan Mo, Mo Fan, damn, this guy has no creativity!" cursed the hunter captain, laughing. The thin mage looked strangely at Kai Tang, chuckling slightly at her. What can I say, I didn't expect anything from the male part of the team.

But the female part was more interesting. Xiao Ke sat, nodding her head for some reason, repeating: "It is so after all." Her face showed a mixture of disbelief and strange satisfaction, realizing that her suspicions were correct. When she noticed my gaze, relief appeared on her face, and she said:

"You were right, how did you know all this in advance?" she asked me in a spatial voice, did I damage her psyche too? No, most likely it's a consequence of shock.

The most interesting, in my opinion, was Kai Tang; as far as I know, she was secretly in love with Fan Mo and fiercely hated Mo Fan. Now, her face showed complete bewilderment, disappointment, hatred, and shock. It's impossible to convey the expression on her face; you just have to see it, no animation or actor can accurately convey all her emotions and state.

"Jiaxing Yun, can we step aside and talk?" Kai Tang asked in a weak voice, barely getting to her feet.

"Mo Jiaxing, I just wanted to teach your son a small lesson, how could I do something like that!" At this moment, Mu Zhuo Yun's voice rang out, which was now softer and kinder, and Mo Fan was already heading here.

"Yes, of course, Kai Tang," I replied to her request, then turned to Mo Jiaxing. "I need to step away for a moment, make sure Mo Fan doesn't get into trouble." Mo Jiaxing looked at me with uncomprehending eyes and nodded weakly, again shifting his gaze from Mo Fan to Mu Zhuo Yun. I, meanwhile, followed Kai Tang, away from the stands.

"Wait, I'm coming with you!" Xiao Ke shouted, running after us. Passing by a group of students, I noticed Tang Yue; she stood in slight confusion, but it seemed that she had understood something and sighed with relief. Kai Tang led us and Xiao Ke out of the stands, after which we walked through the empty courtyard of the villa, as everyone was still in the stadium.

"How did you know that Fan Mo was Mo Fan!" Kai Tang said, almost crying.

"I told you I heard you talking about how they were similar, plus the names are similar, you just need to swap the words. That's all," I shrugged modestly.

"No, that can't be, you can't be so sure just based on that to make a bet!" Kai Tang also said, tears even flowing from her eyes.

"So what if it's possible, I read about double awakening in books, I thought he had the same thing and decided to bet. Why not, the stake from my side, as I said, is not that big, just ten days to do whatever you say. It doesn't seem deadly to me," I shrugged again, maintaining an absolutely impartial expression. "And why are you crying, are twenty thousand such serious money for a hunter of your level?" I asked, not understanding, trying to steer the conversation away from the uncomfortable topic.

"It's none of your business! I'll give you your twenty thousand, don't worry!" she snapped, wiping away tears with one hand. "I'll go to my room now and give it to you."

"Okay," I waved after her. "I'll wait here." She left, choking back tears. Did she really love Fan Mo? Her love turned out to be for the guy who often peeked at her in the bathroom. All her dreams and hopes associated with him must have collapsed in an instant. And she is quite a gentle woman.

"And how did you know that Mo Fan would win?" asked Xiao Ke, who had been standing nearby the whole time.

"Well, I'm his brother. I believed in him," I tried to brush her off.

"Maybe, but you bet twenty thousand so confidently that he would win. Even if you knew about his fire magic abilities, you didn't know about the lightning. He wouldn't have told you," Xiao Ke said shyly. "Plus, the confidence with which you believed what we said about them being similar. And we didn't talk about it when you approached." She looked at me strangely as she said this.

"I heard it later, when we met in the stands," I told her with a indifferent expression, trying not to show my nervousness. "Don't you remember?"

"Oh, right," she said cheerfully, suddenly remembering. "But you were so confident even when you didn't suspect that your brother possessed both lightning and fire, when you bet on his victory. Remember. Yes, even then you unexpectedly started talking about the similarity of their names. Why did you say that?"

"Why was I so confident?" I asked, pointing a finger at my chest. "Probably because I was confident in his abilities, unfortunately, I was the only one. You ask why I started talking about the similarity of names. I just thought about how easy it is to come up with a pseudonym in China. Did you forget my words? And Mo Fan's name just came to me first, after mine."

"But why did you suddenly start thinking about it?" she continued to press. "And why did you tell me?"

"I don't know, sometimes strange thoughts come to my mind and I express them to people who happen to be around," I replied, thinking a little and shrugging. "And why are you so interested in all this?"

"You see, two different successful bets at the same event is quite suspicious."

"Nothing like that, it's just that I'm having a lucky day today," I dismissed her claim.

"Perhaps," she sighed, slightly upset. "I'll go back to the team, give this to Kai Tang."

"Okay," I waved after her. Damn, I was almost discovered, although it should seem like nonsense that someone can see the future, but I'll have problems if someone powerful finds out about it. I need to be more careful with bets from now on. A few minutes later, Kai Tang returned, holding twenty thousand yuan in large bills. Her eyes were wet and red, it seemed she had cried a lot recently. I didn't think she would react like that to the truth about Mo Fan.

"Here, as agreed," she said, handing over the money, her tone expressing complete indifference to the world. This incident seems to have changed her significantly. "And where is Xiao Ke?"

"Thank you. She said she's going back to the team," I replied, taking the money.

After my words, Kai Tang silently walked towards the stands, from where guests were already starting to leave, discussing what had happened there, but I didn't care about that, so I didn't even listen to them. I was heading to find the little man I had bet with; if my calculations were correct, I should get two million from him. However, before I found him, Xu Zhao Ting came to meet me; his face was pale, it felt like he had lost his life.

"Oh, Jiaxing Yun, I was looking for you, I wanted to say let's meet tomorrow. I'll give you the money, I don't have that much with me now," he said kindly, approaching me.

"Okay. Where and when shall we meet?" I asked indifferently, looking for that little man.

"How about one o'clock in the afternoon at the main dormitory building?" he asked. I must say here that we can live in the school dormitory until the university entrance exams begin, which Mo Fan and I are using.

"Great, I'm free at that time," I replied, just noticing the little man. "Don't worry so much about losing to Mo Fan. Know that he's just special. I'll tell you this as his brother," I said, walking past Xu Zhao Ting, patting him on the shoulder. Then I hurried to chase after the little man, who wanted to sneak away from me unnoticed. Doesn't he know that with that agreement, I can demand my money from Mu Zhuo Yun? Or does he hope that no one will know that he took my bet?

"Oh, it's you, the one who bet twenty thousand on Mr. Mo Fan's victory?" he smiled at me when I caught up with him.

"Yes, and I'd like to get my money," I said with a sly smile.

"I'm sorry, but we can't give you such a sum in cash, you'll have to wait until your bank card is processed," he tried to get rid of me.

"No problem, I just picked it up from the bank yesterday," I said, taking out the card I had prepared specifically for this bet.

"Ah, excellent. Then please, come with me to Mr. Mu He's office. I can't issue such a large sum without his permission," the little man said with a completely resigned look.

"Okay, please escort me there," I replied, fully understanding that I would have to wait a long time for Mu He, and also deal with him about the bet, but two million are worth such problems!

After my words, the little man quickly headed towards the villa, so I could barely keep up with him. Is he planning to escape from me? What kind of comedy is he playing? Although it's quite amusing. In the villa, he led me to the second floor, where he led me to one of the doors, behind which was Mu He's office. There were no chairs in the corridor, so we had to wait standing. We waited quite a long time, about an hour, when Mu He himself appeared in the corridor.

"And what are you doing here?" he asked as soon as he saw me. "Zhao Wei Yun, what is this kid doing here?" Mu He asked, seeing the little man. Zhao? Isn't he related to Kun San? Is it a family tradition for them to lose money to me?

"Mr. Mu He, remember you organized a bookmaker so that guests could satisfy their needs by mocking Mo Fan through bets, and also praise Yu An?" asked Wei Yun, and damn, what a reason to organize a bookmaker, I understand that he's here for show and he might not have been there at all, but still, for this?

"Well, and? There shouldn't be any problems with him, we arranged him for public amusement. Who would be foolish enough to bet on *that* Mo Fan!" Mu He waved away confidently.

"Sir, well, this is that fool," Wei Yun replied awkwardly, pointing at me.

"What!" Mu He almost shouted. "And how much did he bet, what were the odds?"

"I bet twenty thousand, odds of one to a hundred," I said, taking out the contract signed by me and Wei Yun, as well as certified with the Mu clan's seal. "Everything is clearly written here, as well as the fact that I made my bet in full and can collect it immediately after the duel in case of winning."

"Impossible, why did you decide to bet on your brother! Did you know in advance what power he possessed?" Mu He asked, his eyes bulging.

"No, of course not. I found out with you, sitting in the stands," I replied, slightly surprised and bewildered. "I just believed in him. My brother, being an ordinary mage, cannot challenge boss Mu Zhuo Yun. No matter what everyone thinks of him, he's not that stupid. So, will you give me my money, Mr. Mu He?"

"I see, but you'll have to wait until the bank card is processed, I can't give you that much cash," Mu He waved away, heading towards the office. Damn, they have the same excuse!

"Mr. Mu He, he already has one," I said, before I could say anything, Wei Yun informed him that there were no problems.

"What? Is that true?" He looked at me sharply with disbelieving eyes.

"Yes, here it is," I said, taking out the card.

"Okay, just a moment," Mu He sighed in despair, taking out his phone and calling someone. After a short conversation, during which he got my card details, he addressed me again. "Your money will arrive by tomorrow." After that, he entered the office, slamming the door behind him.

"Shall I escort you to the exit?" Wei Yun asked me.

"No, thank you, I know the way," I replied, heading towards the exit.

Before I could reach the dormitory, a message arrived on my phone about the crediting of two million yuan to my account. Although it wasn't all smooth sailing. Kun San now thinks I can see the future, but who would believe him? And Xiao Ke started suspecting something was wrong due to my successful bets, but I managed to get rid of her, I think. Arriving at the dormitory, I took out my notebook and marked the sixth page as completed; soon the most interesting event in the city of Bo will begin, recorded on the seventh page.
