Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Danger is Near

Chapter 6: Danger is Near

The night had grown deeper.

The faint glow of the streetlights fell upon the empty road... and Anaya was walking briskly toward her house.

Her mind was still entangled in Kabir's words.

"You have already become a part of my world..."

"Impossible..." Anaya whispered softly to herself.

"I will never be a part of his world..."

But her heart... still couldn't ignore what he had said.

Just as Anaya reached near her house, she suddenly got a strange feeling...

As if someone was watching her.

She slowly turned to look behind her...

The street was completely empty.

"Maybe it's just my imagination..." she thought.

But her heart refused to believe it.

She quickly went inside her house and locked the door.

For a while, she just stood there leaning against the door...

Trying to normalize her breathing.

"I am overthinking..." she reasoned with herself.

The next morning...

Everything seemed normal.

Anaya was getting ready for the hospital.

She looked at herself in the mirror.

"I have to stay strong," she said softly.

"I cannot afford to be emotionally weak."

As soon as she reached the hospital, she started her routine.

Patients... reports... medicines...

Everything was as usual.

But somewhere deep inside, there was a strange restlessness.

As if something was about to happen.

During the lunch break...

Anaya was sitting in the cafeteria.

Suddenly, her phone vibrated.

Unknown number.

She hesitated for a moment before receiving the call—

"Hello?"

There was silence for a few seconds...

Then came a heavy voice—

"Are you Anaya?"

Her heart pounded loudly.

"Who is speaking?"

"There is no need to know my name..." the voice was cold.

"Just understand this... stay away from Kabir."

Anaya's face turned pale.

"What do you mean?" she asked in a tone mixed with fear and anger.

"The meaning is simple..."

"If you get close to him... you will be the one to suffer."

Call cut.

Anaya stared at the phone for a few seconds.

Her hands were trembling slightly.

"What was that..." she whispered.

Now it was crystal clear to her—

This wasn't just a normal story.

This was truly dangerous.

In the evening...

Anaya left the hospital.

This time, she was a bit more alert.

She looked around...

Everything seemed normal.

But just as she started to cross the road—

A bike suddenly sped past her, dangerously close!

Anaya stumbled and barely managed to keep her balance.

"Are you okay?" someone caught her from behind and steadied her.

Anaya turned around in shock...

Kabir.

"You?!" Anaya almost screamed.

Kabir was still holding her hand.

"Careful..." he said calmly.

"Are you alright?"

Anaya immediately snatched her hand away.

"Are you following me?" she asked angrily.

Kabir raised an eyebrow slightly—

"I am here to save you."

"Excuse me?" Anaya grew even more irritated.

Kabir's expression turned serious.

"That wasn't an accident," he said quietly.

Anaya's heart stopped for a second.

"What do you mean?"

Kabir stepped closer to her.

"You've already received the warning, right?"

Anaya stared at him in pure shock.

"How do you know?"

Kabir answered directly—

"Because all of this is happening because of me."

Everything started connecting in Anaya's mind—

The unknown call... the warning... the bike...

"You mean... those people..." she said slowly.

Kabir nodded.

"They have reached you."

Anaya's fear had now become a reality.

"Why... why am I getting dragged into all this?" she said, her voice almost breaking.

Kabir looked at her...

And this time, there wasn't just danger in his eyes...

There was concern, too.

"Because you chose my side," Kabir said softly.

"That night in the ICU..."

Tears welled up in Anaya's eyes.

"I was just doing my duty..." she said.

Kabir replied gently—

"But that decision changed your life."

Both remained silent for a few seconds.

The wind was blowing fiercely.

The situation had grown heavy.

"What should I do now?" Anaya asked quietly.

Kabir answered without a second of hesitation—

"Come with me."

Anaya immediately refused—

"No."

Kabir's tone turned a bit strict—

"This isn't a choice, Anaya."

"It's a necessity."

Anaya was confused... scared... and angry.

"I cannot trust you," she said.

Kabir stepped right up to her...

"You have to trust me..." he said softly.

"Because right now... I am the only one who can save you."

Anaya looked into his eyes.

She couldn't understand what was right... and what was wrong.

But one thing was clear—

The danger was real.

And Kabir...

He was a part of that danger...

and perhaps, the solution too.

Somewhere far away...

That same man spoke on the phone—

"The target is no longer alone..."

"The game has just gotten more interesting..."

Anaya closed her eyes...

And said softly—

"I... I will come with you."

A faint smile appeared on Kabir's lips.

"Good choice..."

But Anaya had absolutely no idea...

This decision was going to take her into a world...

From which returning would be very difficult.

To be continued...
