Chapter 173 Victim Files
Pei Hening looked at her and said coldly, "Anna, do you not want to work here anymore? Let go!"
Anna was also at a loss, with her unpredictable employer Tribes on one side and Mayor Blanche's warning on the other.
"Trembling, what do you want to do?"
Pei Hening pulled her hand away and ran towards the backstage area: "I just saw someone being arrested, Anna, come with me to find them."
Anna hesitated, then advised again, "Tribes, this is a matter for the Happy Circus. Let's not get involved. Besides, I haven't seen anyone get arrested."
The bodyguards followed Pei Hening closely as they entered the backstage area of the Happy Circus once again.
Anna followed.
"ah!!"
Anna walked backstage and heard a sharp, piercing female voice.
She became alert, exchanged a glance with her bodyguard, and whispered, "Protect Tribes, I'm going to call Blanche!"
The bodyguard silently drew his pistol, walked in front of Pei Hening, and protected her behind him.
He whispered, "Tsuibis, something must have happened to someone. Stay close to me and don't wander off."
Pei Hening followed behind the bodyguard, hands in his pockets, his right hand gripping the silver pistol, and his left hand holding a samurai sword card.
She added, "It might be the person who was just arrested, the one wearing light blue clothes."
Anna reached into her pocket and realized that Tribes had taken her phone and put it in her pocket!
"Trappis, my cell phone!"
Pei Hening paused for a moment, then handed her her phone.
After Anna got the phone, she called Blanche, and the call was answered after two rings.
It's very noisy over there, probably because they're outside.
Anna told Blanche about what Pei He Ning had done.
"You mean that idiot knew there was danger, but still insisted on going through?"
Anna: "Mayor Blanche, I tried to stop Tribes, but I couldn't."
Blanche laughed in exasperation: "Wait, I'm coming right now!"
Pei Hening felt an itch in her nose as Anna complained. She rubbed her nose, glanced at her, and thought, "This is the one who complains!"
Anna made several more phone calls, informing the high rollers' assistants she could reach about the murder that had occurred.
The bodyguard stopped and whispered, "There's a body here, matching the previous victims."
Pei Hening squeezed in and saw the victim. The body was dumped in the corridor, and there was blood splattered on the walls and floor. The victim had been murdered not long ago.
Pei Hening felt heavy-hearted. If they had arrived sooner, could they have saved this person?
The victim was a woman, wearing a light blue casual suit, with a noticeable thick callus on the knuckle of her right middle finger, a dazzling wedding ring on her ring finger, and a Richard Mille watch on her wrist.
The murderer wasn't after money; otherwise, the wedding ring and Richard Miller would have disappeared.
Pei Hening lowered her eyes, racking her brains. Aside from money, what else was left?
What connection did the victims have?
Will there be more murders in the future?
Who will be the next victim?
The note Chu Xuange gave her said, 'Prince Peter is not dead.' So why did he fake his death?
The wealthy guests in the banquet hall were closer and had arrived earlier than Blanche.
Blue Space founder Carter spoke first, asking, "Trebs? How did you discover there was an accident backstage?"
Pei Hening looked at Carter strangely. Where did she come from?
"Turquoise?"
Pei Hening said helplessly, "I found it by chance, and notified you as soon as I saw it."
Fifty-seven-year-old slanted-eyed philanthropist Adams, a lit cigar between his fingers, asked gravely, "How come someone else has died?"
"Judging by his attire, he must be an invited guest, right? The security situation in Nerna Port is truly unacceptable!"
"Aren't you afraid? What if we're the next victim?"
"Didn't you bring bodyguards? Just have them watch over you 24 hours a day."
"Look at Prince Peter, he brought bodyguards too, but were they any use? They still died! And his bodyguards even went missing, what do you say about that?"
"Could someone be trying to ambush us? Who will be the next victim?"
Everyone chimed in, their conversation growing increasingly tense.
After finally squeezing to the front, the painter Pei'er turned pale when she saw the victim's face clearly. How could it be her?
Pei Hening narrowed her eyes and asked, "Pei'er, do you know who this person is?"
Pei'er's panic became even more apparent. She said, "What?"
Violinist Sofia also looked over and said gently, "Pelle, don't be afraid. Just tell me what you know."
Pei'er noticed someone was staring at her and stiffly shook her head: "I don't know anything, don't ask me."
Pei Hening knew she didn't want to talk about it, so she planned to talk to her privately.
When Blanche and the sheriff arrived, the sky had fallen.
The crime scene was handed over to the police chief. Blanche walked up to Pei Hening and said, "Come out with me."
Anna wanted to follow, but Blanche looked up and stopped.
Pei Hening, with his hands in his pockets, followed her out.
Suppressing her anger, Blanche asked, "Tribes, can't you just behave yourself? What if the killer targets you? How am I supposed to explain this to your parents?"
"I need the victims' information; you definitely have it."
She must identify these victims in order to deduce the killer's motive and thus determine who the next victim will be.
Was it a crime of passion? A revenge killing? Or was it to silence witnesses?
Or was it a power struggle? A crime of passion?
To satisfy a perverse fetish? To commit murder for someone else? Manslaughter?
Blanche looked at her intently: "Trappy, knowing too much won't do you any good."
"Blanche, I have the right to know that you have lost control of the situation and that I should be the one to save myself."
She was silent for a moment, then gave in: "Come with me."
Blanche led Pei Hening to a private lounge on the first floor: "Most of the information I've gathered is here."
Pei Hening immediately noticed the documents scattered messily on the table.
"You can't take the documents with you. Do as you please. I'm going to take care of things upstairs."
Blanche didn't know if her choice was right or wrong, but she... had to take responsibility for her own actions.
Pei Hening went in and picked up the three documents on top.
——Victim 1: Cromwell, male, 31 years old, from a branch of the royal family of a certain country, was murdered at 4:30 am on June 3.
—Victim 2: Edward, female, 29 years old, heiress of a conglomerate in a certain country, murdered at 5:10 am on June 3.
—Victim 3: Prince Peter, male, 33 years old, a member of the royal family of a certain country, a potential heir to the throne, was murdered at 12:06 PM on June 3rd. (Note: Bodyguard missing)
Pei Hening retrieved the information on Cromwell and Prince Peter, compared their appearances, and found a high degree of similarity... suggesting they might be related by blood.
