Chapter 2
On the peak of a tall Mountain, a young man was sitting cross legged with his eyes closed. He was dressed in a clean white robe, which shone against his long raven black hair that was lifted by the wind. He looked carefree and he had a faint smile on his face.
He had sharp facial features, and through the immature youthful face, one could tell that he was absolutely handsome.
The young man seemed to sense something behind him so he stood up and turned around, then his smile became more dazzling. He clasped his fist in respect.
"Father" he spoke, lowering his back a little.
There was a middle aged man walking towards him.
The man smiled.
"Feng'er, What are you doing here?" The man asked
"Nothing Father. I just came out for some air." long Feng replied calmly.
The man nodded, trying to cover the worry on his face with his smile. Unfortunately, the slight crease of his eyebrows made his smile seem a bit forced.
"Father, what's wrong?" Long Feng asked lightly.
The man sighed and shook his head, letting his smile fade away.
"There's been an unexpected turn of events. The three powerful clans in the city have organised a secret meeting according to our spies" he replied heavily.
Long Feng's eyes flickered with surprise.
"A meeting? There can only be one reason they would do that- they want to ally together to suppress our clan so they can take a share of our clan's treasures and techniques for themselves" he deduced slowly.
The man nodded, completely not surprised that Long Feng had guessed everything. It wasn't hard to piece together when one knew the situation of the Star mountain city.
Long Feng smiled and shook his head.
"Their actions seem foolish to me though. The Gong clan is the strongest in this city, yet they still don't dare to attack us. Doesn't that alone signifies something? Yet the three clans are trying to?" Long feng asked curiously.
The man didn't reply and simply shook his head.
"Feng'er let's return to the clan. The grand elders have organised an urgent meeting tomorrow. All clan members would return today. I don't know what will be decided, but you must be careful." The man said slowly, staring intently at Long Feng.
Long Feng understood what he was trying to say.
No one in Star mountain city was unaware that Long Yuan, the Clan Chief of the Long clan, one of the five powerful clans in the city, had a trash who could not cultivate as a son. That was common news.
And that trash son was naturally Long Feng.
"Feng'er, have you figured out anything yet?" Asked Long yuan, though he didn't harbor any hope in his heart.
It's been years already and no one could figure out what exactly was wrong with Long Feng. A change wouldn't simply happen in a day.
Long Feng shook his head slowly. Long yuan sighed in response.
Long Feng was not Long Yuan's biological son. Long yuan had found Long Feng as a baby somewhere, and he brought him to the long clan and raised him up. Long Feng himself didn't know the exact details, though he took Long Yuan as his only Family.
Normally, every child with a bit of talent would begin cultivating between the ages of 10 and 13, but Long Feng was fourteen and was still unable to cultivate even now.
People secretly nicknamed him as 'The trash of the Star Mountain City' and he was mocked until it became an old tale.
Long Feng had tried everything he could to communicate with his dantian and absorb natural energies through his meridians, but his dantian felt foreign to his body. He could hardly sense it in his body.
He had never heard of this situation from anyone before, and even he nearly believed that he simply didn't have the slightest cultivation talent.
"Don't worry. It's fine. I won't let anyone bully you. Let's head back" Long yuan parted his son's back and said comfortingly.
Long Feng nodded with a warm smile and they both walked down the mountain and headed back.
The Star Mountain City, was located in the midst five Mountain ranges grouped together in the shape of a star, hence, the city's name.
There were five powerful Clans in the city; The Gong clan, which was the strongest, the Long clan, the Xuan clan, the Lin clan and the Song clan.
The city was also divided into five parts; Central, northern, southern, Western and Eastern towns.
The Long clan was in control of the northern town. The two of them walked down the mountain and headed north towards the clan.
The Long clan, as one of the five great clans was extremely full and lively. The Clan was located in the center of the northern town and outsiders were not allowed in the surroundings.
Long Feng and his father arrived at the entrance to the clan.
The gate was guarded by multiple guards of the peak Connate realm or early Yin realm. It had to be known that in the entire Star city, an early Yin realm martial cultivator could roam around unhindered yet in the Long clan they were only guards.
The Yihua Continent had Five major realms; The Connate Realm, Yin Realm, Yang Realm, Spirit Realm and the great Imperial Realm.
The Star Mountain City was only a small city in the Yihua continent and here, Yin realm cultivators were already considered strong.
Long Yuan was such a cultivator, a respected Yin Realm warrior that even the other four clans dreaded.
Upon seeing Long Yuan, the guards bowed respectfully, showing the awe in their eyes when they stared at their Clan Chief.
But they barely glanced at Long Feng, and when they did, they merely sent obviously provocative and disdainful glances at Long feng.
To this, Long Feng paid no heed. He was already used to it. After four years of this treatment, he had become numb to it and wouldn't bother anymore.
If it was two years ago, this would have hurt his pride immensely.
But Long Yuan certainly wasn't as amiable as Long Feng.
"What're you staring at?" His voice erupted all of a sudden, catching the guards by surprise.
The guards were first startled, then afraid as they felt their knees wobbling under Long Yuan's piercing gaze.
"Lord Clan Chief, w-we were not staring at anything." One of them replied in a shaky voice.
Long Yuan glared at him and wanted to speak again but Long Feng calmly placed a palm on his shoulder.
"Father, just let it be". He didn't really see much use in this; the guards would just feel more disdain for him. His father wouldn't always be there to speak up for him, would he?
It had already gone around that he always relied on his father, and that the Clan Chief was abusing his authority due to his son. The Clan elders were already paying attention to this issue.
Long Feng didn't want to cause any problems for his father.
Long Yuan sighed softly, then he strode past the guards and into the clan. Long Feng followed behind him.
The Long Clan was quite large. They had a huge training ground, several places that included the martial skills building, weaponry building, and more.
And as one of the five great clans of the city, they had many talented youths. The youths could be seen training in the training grounds under the guidance of some elders.
As they strode past the training grounds, several youths cupped their fists in greetings to the Clan Chief. As for Long Feng, few of them even noticed him.
Long Feng stole a few glances at the field, imagining how it would be if he was among them.
Each of the youths were impressive, having powerful auras that could suppress mortals till they couldn't breath.
Although the Long Clan's heritage couldn't be considered much in the entire Jianhai Province, it was still strong in it's own rights.
Long Yuan headed back to the Clan hall while Long Feng decided to return to his room.
As Long Feng walked towards his room, he could sense the many disdainful glances on himself, but he didn't bother about them. Four years had made him indifferent to all that.
All of a sudden, someone rushed straight towards him, appearing like a blur to Long Feng. He barely reacted to the person's speed before he was knocked aside heavily and surrounded by dust.
The person stopped and glanced at Long Feng mockingly while extending an arm to help him up.
"Ah, I'm really sorry Young master. I didn't know it was you, otherwise I wouldn't have moved with my full speed." His tone naturally carried no remorse and instead dripped with disdain.
Many youths around moved closer and watched the scene with similar expressions on their faces.
Long Feng's expression didn't change. He smiled and began to rise back to his feet.
"I see. It's fine." He replied.
The youth frowned at Long Feng's indifference. This wasn't the reaction he was expecting.
He stepped closer and grabbed Long Feng's arm to help him up while secretly inserting a tiny bit of his inner energy into the latter's body.
Long Feng's face suddenly turned pale as a line of blood flowed down his nostrils. His head rang as he lost his balance and collapsed to the ground again, looking miserable.
The youth finally smiled in satisfaction while edging closer again.
"Ah! Young master, you're bleeding! Are you alright?"
Long Feng smiled bitterly and clenched his two fists tightly in the sand. "Don't worry about it. I'm fine." He replied calmly.
The youth nodded. "If you say so. Alas, you're so weak young master. It seems like the clan chief will only be able to watch the grand meeting this year again with no one to represent him. At this, rate I fear that the position will soon be taken from him entirely… ah. So unfortunate."
Long Feng's nails dug into his palm as he began to rise up again in silence.
"Young master, the clan chief is so unlucky. Ah. He adopted a trash out of foolish kindness… such an emotionally weak person really can't lead the Long clan to greatness. If you ask me, he was better off staying without a child instead of raising a useless one. What do you think, Young master?"
Long Feng smiled. "You're right."
The youth laughed loudly. "Indeed. I knew you were a broad minded person. Well, who am I to criticize the Clan Chief's decision? I should be going Young master. Make sure to attend the meeting and cheer for us!" He added before rushing away with a laugh.
Long Feng's smile didn't falter, nor did he reveal a single sign of anger. He shook his head and unclenched his fists, allowing several drops of blood to roll down his fingers and drip to the sand.
Without a single word, he used his sleeves to clean the blood running down his nose then continued heading towards his room.
He used to lose his cool entirely before and try to fight back, but he would only earn himself more beating. With time, he learnt to ignore it all and control his emotions.
While he appeared calm, only he knew the amount of anger and frustration that filled his heart. How much he hated his weakness and helplessness.
"Some day… all of this would end…" he clenched his fist again slightly before releasing them and signing.
Without his father, he would be nothing but a laughing stock in this clan, to the extent that even some unknown nobody could bully him as they pleased.
He was about to return to his bedroom when he noticed that people had gathered around to form groups and we're staring at him as if he was a clown. Although they usually did that often, they never did it so intensely.
After a few minutes, Long Feng was certain that something had happened and he himself became curious as well.
He decided to pay attention to the conversation of a group of people who were close enough.
"Hahaha! Look at the useless coward! I wonder how he'll make fun of himself in two days at the meeting." A youth laughed.
"Don't you know that he hasn't dared to stay in the clan for days now? I bet it's because he knows that senior brother Wei and senior sister Qing have returned from their sects for the Meeting, so he was too afraid to face them." Another person said.
"No! no! Don't say that, what do we know? Maybe, just maybe, he was cultivating"
They all burst into laughter.
"If that trash could ever cultivate, then I would swallow my sword whole and cripple my own cultivation." A rank 6 Connate realm cultivator swore.
The others laughed again.
"Long Yi, there is no need for you to make such promises because we all know it is impossible. If I was Long feng, I would lock myself up in my room forever, or just leave the clan." Someone else remarked.
Long Feng's eyes flickered as he heard their conversation.
"They're back?…"
