Ch14 He pulled Xia Wan into his arms

Xia Wan couldn't help but sigh inwardly, feeling a rush of heat spreading through him.

He rushed over, jogging all the way, but when he heard those words, his legs felt weak, and he stumbled, falling into Huo Yu's waiting arms.

Through the thin fabric of their shirts, Xia Wan could feel the warmth and firmness of Huo Yu's muscles pressing against his chest. Even without direct contact, the sensation was palpable, sending shivers down his spine.

For a moment, Xia Wan found himself slightly distracted by the sensation.

A strong and healthy body like Huo Yu's can be incredibly appealing to someone who's been sick and confined to bed for a long time.

He really wants to...

A soft sigh escaped Xia Wan's lips as he couldn't help but ponder.

Struggling with his desire to reach out and touch Huo Yu's tempting firm chest.

Xia Wan exerted his utmost effort to resist the temptation. He shifted slightly within Huo Yu's embrace, as he tried to adjust in more comfortable position.

However, Huo Yu affectionately placed his hand on Xia Wan's lower back, effortlessly halting his movements.

Confusion filled Xia Wan's expression as he raised his eyes, searching for understanding. He noticed a subtle tension in the muscles of Huo Yu's body.

An idea suddenly occurred to Xia Wan: could it be that Huo Yu was feeling shy?

Sure enough, just as Xia Wan suspected, Huo Yu also felt that the line they exchanged was too embarrassing and awkward.

Xia Wan felt a bubbling amusement rising within him, and he found himself unable to resist the impulse to tease Huo Yu again.

"Eldest Master," Xia Wan teased with a mischievous glint in his eyes, "How about you reward me right now?"

Huo Yu's smile faded slightly as he raised his gaze to the opposite side, his tone turning colder. "Do I need to repeat myself? Aren't you supposed to leave?"

The room was quiet, and Xia Wan couldn't resist the temptation to sneak a glance behind him.

Sun Baijiang furrowed his brow. After a brief pause, he pushed back his chair and rose to his feet.

One after another, the sound of the door opening and closing echoed in the room, marking Sun Baijiang's departure.

Simultaneously, Huo Yu's hand, which had been resting on Xia Wan's lower back, withdrew as well.

"Tsk!" Xia Wan couldn't help but let out a frustrated curse under his breath.

He had only intended to playfully tease Huo Yu, but he hadn't anticipated that Huo Yu, acting like a schemer, would do it just to reject Sun Baijiang.

Sun Baijiang came from a wealthy background, but he looked incredibly forlorn. He probably couldn't help but feel sympathy even towards an unfeeling stone, right?

However, Huo Yu is even less compassionate than a stone.

As Xia Wan attempted to rise, he found himself in an awkward position, with the seat snagging on his calf. In his struggle to stand, he lost his balance halfway and ended up falling back down, Inadvertently colliding with Huo Yu's chest with some force.

In that instant, Xia Wan felt his lips brush against something warm and soft. After a moment of confusion, he realized that it was Huo Yu's earlobe that he had inadvertently touched.

As Xia Wan's lips made contact, he noticed that Huo Yu's once pale complexion began to take on a faint pink hue. The color was incredibly beautiful, and it seemed to deepen gradually, adding a touch of warmth to his features.

"Eldest Master," Xia Wan Instinctively changed the subject, "Sun Baijiang is so handsome, why do you have to treat him this way?"

"Get up," Huo Yu said coldly.

This time, Xia Wan acted more cautiously. He first steadied Huo Yu's shoulders for support before slowly rising to his feet.

Noticing the coldness in Huo Yu's gaze as he looked at him, Xia Wan's eyes unconsciously drifted to the other person's earlobes, which had turned a faint shade of red.

The one responsible for causing the earlobe to turn red was none other than Xia Wan.

"I didn't mean to," Xia Wan explained, his fingertips resting lightly on Huo Yu's shoulders before moving unexpectedly to lightly touch the warm earlobe.

The contact was brief, as Huo Yu immediately turned his head away, reacting as if he had been violated, like a chaste man who has been molested.

Xia Wan was taken aback. After a brief moment of silence as they stared at each other, Huo Yu accused coldly, "You're twenty-nine minutes late."

Xia Wan: ".."

"Our relationship is about to change, please let me explain," Xia Wan said, his voice calm yet pleading. He then obediently settled back into his seat, ready to provide clarification and resolve any misunderstandings.

"Our relationship is about to change," Huo Yu said with a half-smile, "and yet you still find time to compliment others on their good looks?"

As expected, anger must be repaid. Xia Wan couldn't help but criticize himself, but he also honestly admitted his mistake. "I'm sorry, it's my fault," he said sincerely.

In any case, being late for a first date wasn't a good way to start things off. It was important to apologize and acknowledge the mistake.

Huo Yu paused for a moment, then slowly stretched out his hand towards Xia Wan.

Huo Yu's hand appeared smooth and flawless, resembling a piece of finely crafted jade. It looked striking against the long wooden table, almost like a beautiful sculpture.

Xia Wan immediately grasped Huo Yu's intention. Without hesitation, he lowered his gaze and reached into his backpack, retrieving the signed agreement. It was prepared in duplicate, with two identical sheets of paper sandwiched together, ready for Huo Yu's review.

After a moment of careful consideration, Xia Wan held the agreement in his hand with a hint of caution. Then, with deliberate movements, he placed it on the table and gently pushed it towards Huo Yu, signifying his willingness to proceed.

Huo Yu grabbed the agreement, quickly flipped through its pages, and discovered that Xia Wan had signed a "marriage agreement."

Huo Yu expressed clear dislike when Sun Baijiang hinted that Xia Wan had bad intentions.

Although he initially wanted Xia Wan to agree to the "marriage" part, when he actually did, he felt a mix of complex emotions that he couldn't quite explain.

He's unsure of his feelings. It's like feeling sorry for small imperfections in precious white jade. Which he thought was clean yet he doesn't dislike it.

After thinking for a while, Huo Yu's eyes slowly turned darker.

While Huo Yu read the agreement, Xia Wan seized the chance to observe him closely.

Today he was unlike the previous occasions. Huo Yu wore gold-rimmed glasses, adding elegance to his look. However, when he furrowed his brows, he appeared notably cold and mysterious.

After reading the agreement, Huo Yu kindly reminded him, "The money will come tomorrow. If you're free in the afternoon, feel free to stay at my place. Is that alright with you?"

Xia Wan nodded and inquired, "So, I'll continue sleeping on the sofa, right?"

"Sleep in the bed," Huo Yu stated plainly.

Xia Wan pressed his lips together and remained silent.

Sensing his hesitation, Huo Yu spoke softly, "The guest bedroom will be cleaned up in the next two days."

"Alright," Xia Wan nodded, appearing quite obedient.

Huo Yu found himself inexplicably softened by his demeanor. He raised his hand to call for the meal and asked: "Let's get the certificate tomorrow?"

Surprised, Xia Wan raised his eyebrows and responded, "So soon?"

Huo Yu stayed silent, lifting his head slightly and unconsciously exuding a sense of dominance.

The steak was brought in, its enticing aroma filling the air. After a busy afternoon, Xia Wan, feeling hungry, quickly grasped the knife and fork.

His movements were effortless and enthusiastic, instantly pleasing to the eye.

"I have plans with someone else tomorrow," Xia Wan asked, his voice soft, "Can we postpone it for two days?"

"Meeting someone? Is it more important than our marriage?" Huo Yu asked as he meticulously wiped the knife and fork.

Upon hearing this, Xia Wan's eyebrows subtly arched, seemingly finding it amusing.

"Meeting a new Aunt." While cutting the steak open, Xia Wan said, "It's almost as important as getting married, isn't it?"

"Don't you already have one?" Huo Yu raised his eyebrows. "Can't you meet the aunt another day?"

Xia Wan savored the fragrant steak, displaying an expression of enjoyment once again.

Chewing like a hamster, he explained, "The previous nanny was arranged by my cousin. Now, I want to choose a more attentive one for my father."

"Oh," Huo Yu's expression softened a bit. "Do you need any help with that?"

Xia Wan shook his head.

Honestly, what could a young man like Huo Yu really know? He might not necessarily be much better than him.

"Let 's wait until I find a new aunt," Xia Wan said, "It should be soon. If you're concerned, you can wait until we have the certificate before making the payment."

If Xia Chengzhang were in good health, he wouldn't be so anxious and worried. However, given the circumstances, he didn't want to add any discomfort to Xia Chengzhang's situation even for a day.

The restaurant was situated near the school and it primarily served students as their main customer base. Consequently, the quality of the food was also average.

Huo Yu intended to set down his knife and fork after a couple of bites.

Yet, watching Xia Wan relish his meal as if it were incredibly delicious and delightful, the sight alone tempted people to crave the food.

Huo Yu held the tableware between his fingers, hesitating for a moment.

Observing Xia Wan's evident enjoyment, he found himself compelled to continue.

Almost unconsciously, he took a few more bites.

"Have you ever thought," he couldn't resist teasing, "that you're actually quite suitable for "mukbang"?"

"Ah?" Xia Wan halted, the pasta poised near his lips as if a sudden realization struck him.

Maintaining a casual demeanor, he added, "I have something to discuss with you."

Huo Yu inexplicably had a gut feeling that it wasn't a good thing for some reason.

"What?" he asked warily.

Xia Wan rarely set down his utensils and appeared more focused. Even when the phone rang on the table, he didn't bother to answer it. "I want to open an account for doing

mukbang, is that possible?" he asked, his tone serious and determined.

Huo Yu:".."

Huo Yu fell silent, pondering Xia Wan's question. He was not sure whether Xia Wan was just kidding or he was really serious.

But Xia Wan's gaze remained fixed on him with a serious and expectant expression, his rosy lips pressed into a thin line, and he made no attempt to touch his

favorite food, indicating his earnestness and determination

Huo Yu stayed silent, and before he could react, he uttered two cold words between his thin lips: "Whatever."

Despite the cold response, Xia Wan still smiled brightly, revealing his snow-white teeth.

Eight teeth were exposed, neither more nor less, yet they held a captivating charm.

"You're so kind!" Xia Wan exclaimed, his voice soft and naturally sweet. "I was worried you wouldn't agree," he added with gratitude evident in his tone.

Huo Yu really didn't want to agree. The idea of his supposed partner being involved in mukbang just felt a bit strange to him.

"You didn't take it seriously when I mentioned it casually, did you?" He set down the knife and fork as he spoke, losing his appetite in the process.

"I had seriously considered it before," Xia Wan explained, "I needed to find a way to make more money."

"Oh, do you feel like you're not paid enough?" Huo Yu asked with a smile, though his intentions were unclear.

Actually what Huo Yu had offered was more than enough, but given Xia Chengzhang's current situation, it's always better to have more money and be prepared for any eventualities.

"That's not true," Xia Wan admitted honestly, "but having more money is always better."

Huo Yu remained silent, yet the feeling of regret for a beautiful jade with slight flaws resurfaced within him.

It was just that Xia Wan's smile was so beautiful, and for most people, such pure happiness and joy were actually rare to see.

He didn't want to spoil it.

As the phone rang once more, Xia Wan turned his head away from the conversation and reached for a cherry tomato from the salad plate. With a quick motion, he plucked it from the dish before lifting the phone to his ear to answer the call.

To avoid interrupting his meal, he decided to order takeout Instead.

In fact, on the way here, Xia Wan's phone kept ringing with calls, but he was too busy to answer them.

The bright red cherry tomatoes clung to Xia Wan's red lips as he gently bit into them, a little juice staining the corners of his mouth. It was a pure yet alluring sight.

In Huo Yu's mind, a well-arranged picture formed, capturing the scene vividly.

"Hello Brother," Xia Wan's tone was quick and to the point.

In contrast, the person on the other end sounded hostile, "Are you joking with me?"

Xia Wan leisurely finished the remaining half of a cherry tomato before asking, "What are you talking about, Brother? I don't understand at all."

"Are you pretending to not know!" Xia Yang gritted his teeth, "Didn't I tell you the deadline over there is this afternoon?"

"Oh, that matter," Xia Wan said casually, raising his eyebrows as he cut into the steak. "But I only agreed to consider it at the time. I didn't promise to go," he added, clarifying his position.

After a moment of suffocating silence, Xia Yang said, "Let's talk in person."

"I'm eating out right now," Xia Wan replied. "Where are you, Brother? Are you at my school?"

"Then I'll wait for you," Xia Yang said angrily. "Hurry up and finish eating," he added.

"Okay," Xia Wan agreed. "You wait for me then," he said before hanging up.

The restaurant wasn't far from the school, it was just a five-minute drive away. As Xia Wan approached, he spotted Xia Yang standing guard at the school gate.

The car pulled over across the road, and Xia Wan quickly got out, making his way towards Xia Yang.

"Hey, Aunt," Su Tang, who was also in the car, spotted Xia Wan through the window. "That's the roommate I mentioned to you earlier," he said.

Wen Yunzhi glanced over, following Su Tang's movements, her gaze fixed on the small patch of snow-white skin on the side of Xia Wan's face.

"The one following Huo Yu?" she asked.

"Well," Su Tang replied, "Auntie, what do you think of Huo Yu? How is he as a person?"

His mother, Wen Hengzhi, was also present, but it was evident that he felt more comfortable chatting with Wen Yunzhi rather than her.

"How would I know?" Wen Yunzhi smiled. "But I knew his parents when I was young. They were both very good people."

"Is he Huo Peifeng's son?" Wen Hengzhi inquired.

"Yes," Wen Yunzhi nodded. "It's a pity that the child was too young when the couple passed away. Otherwise, the Huo family wouldn't have fallen into the hands of Huo Peixue."

Su Tang, who was nibbling on pig's trotters, couldn't help but gasp upon hearing this. She asked, "What do you mean?"

"You younger folks might not be aware," Wen Yunzhi explained, "but the Huo family was originally founded by Huo Peifeng, so it rightfully belongs to Huo Yu. However, Huo Peixue has held control for so long that most people have forgotten about this."

Su Tang stopped chewing on the pig's trotters and asked, "So, that means my roommate isn't in a very dangerous situation right?"

As they spoke, they noticed Xia Wan standing at the school gate with another boy who was about the same height but appeared much stronger. They seemed to be engaged in a heated conversation.

In just two sentences, the boy backed Xia Wan into a corner.

When Su Tang saw this, he threw away the pig's trotters, rolled up his sleeves, and rushed to help. It wasn't until Wen Yunzhi pulled

him back that he noticed Huo Yu walking over.

Under the fading sunset, Huo Yu's tall and well-built figure exuded a unique charm as he moved gracefully, catching the attention of many passing classmates.

He walked directly to the two arguing individuals and pulled Xia Wan into his arms protectively.
