Chapter 308 - Look How Wide Your Path Just Became

As the bezel on the Omnitrix rotated, an icon resembling a glowing, miniature planet surfaced on the interface—

It was the exclusive energy signature representing the Celestial race!

SLAP!

Peter slammed down on the Omnitrix. In the very next second, his form instantly underwent a quiet shift.

This was perhaps the most low-key transformation in his entire arsenal.

There were no flashy particle effects or dramatic elemental bursts—only Peter himself could truly feel the qualitative shift happening within his molecular structure.

At this very moment, he had completely transformed into a humanoid body of living energy!

He could freely manipulate his form, shifting shape and structure at absolute will.

Celestial DNA Unlocked:

Form: Pure Humanoid Celestial Energy Entity

Capabilities: Complete, absolute energy manipulation; body morphing; 100% fine-tuned control equivalent to flexing a finger.

Perhaps because Peter's transformation lacked dramatic visual flair, Ego failed to notice anything different.

He was still rambling on, lost in his dramatic villain monologue.

"Lowly creature, don't think you can stop me! Once the self-destruction sequence has begun, it is entirely irreversible! You are all destined to perish alongside me in—"

Before Ego could even finish his sentence, Peter thrust his hand straight into Ego's glowing energy core.

His palm drove through the crystalline outer shell, plunging deep into the swirling heart of pure Celestial energy.

Ego's grand speech cut off abruptly. A look of total, vacant stupidity crossed his face—an expression Mantis had never seen on him in all her years of service.

It was the expression of someone who had suddenly bumped into... another version of himself!

Seeing his utter bewilderment, Peter cocked his head slightly, letting out a mocking smirk:

"Keep talking. Weren't you shouting pretty loud a second ago?"

Ego didn't answer.

He couldn't answer.

Because he had just realized something that his ancient, billion-year-old mind couldn't comprehend—the Celestial energy inside his body was gushing outward.

It wasn't a minor leak. It was a torrential flood.

Like a dam collapsing under immense pressure or a sudden, catastrophic avalanche, the vast ocean of Celestial power he had painstakingly accumulated over billions of years was rushing into Peter's body at an absurd, terrifying speed.

What's worse, the instant his power entered Peter, it vanished as a stone dropped into a bottomless ocean—severing all psychic and physical connections to Ego's main body, leaving no response whatsoever.

Even worse, as his reserves plummeted, he could feel his connection to the energy seeds he had planted across the galaxy snapping one by one!

Ego snapped back to reality, letting out a raw, blood-curdling screech.

This time, every single person present could hear the sheer terror and madness laced within his voice:

"Damned parasite! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!"

"Nothing much."

Peter shrugged, casually jamming his other hand into Ego's core as well. His expression remained as breezy as if he were discussing the afternoon weather:

"Just siphoning off a bit of your energy. Not much... just all of it."

[ Peter's Omnitrix Form ]

Hearing this, the Guardians stood rooted to the spot, completely dumbfounded.

Peter... was literally draining the energy of a living planet?!

And he was casually talking about leaving it completely dry?!

How is something like that even possible?!

"IMPOSSIBLE! THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE! I have lived for billions of years—no creature can strip away my power—"

"Old man," Peter interrupted, "you've only got a few minutes left to live. Are you sure you want to waste your final moments on useless banter?"

Ego's face flushed a deep, violent crimson, yet his voice trembled weakly:

"Lies! You're dreaming!"

"My consciousness spans countless star systems!"

"My seeds are rooted across the entire cosmos!"

"The energy I have absorbed over billions of years rivals that of a whole star!"

"Absorbing me means forcing a cosmic-level life structure straight into your mortal body!"

"You will explode! You'll tear yourself apart from the inside out!"

Hearing Ego's frantic claims, Star-Lord and the others exchanged nervous glances.

Rocket, possessing the highest intelligence in the crew, couldn't help but look over at Sif:

"Look, as much as I hate the old guy, he kind of makes a point. Is your boyfriend really going to be fine doing that?"

"Relax!" Sif replied effortlessly. She even pulled out a phone to casually tap through a offline mini-game Peter had coded for her. "Peter never enters a fight unprepared."

Minutes ticked by, and the group watched in awe as Ego's giant form... began to shrink once again.

And the speed at which he was shrinking was downright terrifying.

When he had first compressed his form, he was still roughly thirty to fifty meters tall.

Now, in less than sixty seconds, he had shriveled down to under ten meters.

Having lost a round in her game due to a misclick, Sif looked up at the rapidly shrinking Ego and remarked casually:

"Almost done."

"Almost done with what?" Mantis asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Sif glanced at her and Star-Lord, offering a reassuring smile:

"Your father... is pretty much done for."

Sure enough, no sooner had the words left her mouth than Ego began to beg for his life.

His screeching, arrogant roars dissolved into pathetic, desperate pleas.

By now, his energy form was visibly unstable, his facial features blurring into faint, watery ripples:

"Young man... wait! I think we can negotiate! You are the strongest mortal I have ever encountered in this galaxy. If we partner up, I can share everything you could ever desire!"

"My vast knowledge!"

"My star maps!"

"I have witnessed the birth and evolution of civilizations since the dawn of time!"

"I even know ancient cosmic secrets hidden from the greatest empires in the universe!"

"I can teach you how to plant seeds inside planets, how to accelerate biological evolution, how to construct new energy vessels!"

Faced with Ego's tempting offer, the Guardians worried Peter might actually consider it.

Pathing through his options, Peter didn't disappoint them.

His response was short, blunt, and brutal:

"Idiot."

"Has it occurred to you that once you're dead, all those things become mine anyway?"

"What right do you have to negotiate with me now?"

Realizing Peter was completely unmoved, Ego pivoted his target in sheer panic:

"Quill!" He turned toward Star-Lord, his eyes swimming with desperate pleading.

Star-Lord's body went stiff.

"My son... stop him! Are you really going to stand by and watch a complete stranger murder your biological father?!"

Gamora immediately stepped in front of Star-Lord: "Don't listen to him, Peter!"

Yet Star-Lord didn't hide behind her.

He stepped out from behind Gamora, raised his element blasters, and aimed them straight at Ego's head.

BANG!

Star-Lord pulled the trigger without hesitation, screaming at the top of his lungs:

"I ALREADY TOLD YOU! I ONLY HAVE ONE FATHER, AND HIS NAME IS YONDU!"

He fired shot after shot in a cathartic rage:

BANG! "This one's for my mom!"

BANG! "This one's for Yondu!"

BANG! "This one's for all the brothers and sisters you slaughtered and tossed aside like trash!"

BANG! "And this one... is for you peeking at my friend's girlfriend earlier!"

Hearing Star-Lord's final line, Peter's hands paused for a split second.

He couldn't help but look back over his shoulder, giving Star-Lord an approving nod:

"Not bad at all, kid. Look how wide your path just became~"
