The hospital room remained unusually quiet. Leon sat beside Sylvain's bed, refusing to leave even after spending the entire night at his brother's side. His hand remained gently wrapped around Sylvain's, as though letting go would somehow make him disappear.
The silence was broken when the door opened. The attending physician stepped inside with two nurses, carrying a clipboard as they began Sylvain's morning examination.
After checking his vitals and reviewing the monitors, the doctor gave a small nod of satisfaction.
"He's responding well to the treatment," the physician said. "His condition is stable, and he's recovering better than we initially expected."
Relief flickered across Leon's face, but it was quickly replaced by worry. His fingers tightened ever so slightly around Sylvain's hand.
"How is he now?" he asked quietly.
The physician looked at Leon with a reassuring smile.
