Caleb's POV
The guys and I stand in front of Riley's house, tension thick in the air as we wait for Silas's return. When his black SUV finally pulls up to the curb, my muscles coil with barely contained energy. Silas jumps out and moves to the passenger side with careful precision.
He opens the door and reaches inside, lifting Riley out in his arms like she weighs nothing. She's completely unconscious, her head resting against his chest, and the sight ignites something fierce and possessive inside me. My hands clench into fists as rage builds in my chest.
I step forward to take her from him, but Silas actually pulls back, holding her protectively. For a split second, I think he's going to refuse to hand her over. Then something shifts in his expression, and he reluctantly allows me to take her from his arms. I shoot him a look that could burn through steel, but he just shrugs and stares down at Riley with an unreadable expression.
