The sound cuts through the chaos of my destruction like a blade. My phone buzzes somewhere in the wreckage of what used to be our bedroom, but the ringtone is different. Wrong. I tear through the debris I've created, throwing pillows and overturned furniture aside with desperate hands until I spot it. Pink. Her phone case catches the light, and my heart stops.
She left her phone behind. That's why no one could reach her.
My fingers shake as I grab it, swiping the screen open. The message waiting there makes my blood turn to ice.
