Chapter 6 - There's No Time To Be Careless

——The Next Day.

"Hmm…? Is it morning already?"

I woke up to the morning sunlight streaming through the curtains.

Phew, I didn't experience sleep paralysis today, so I probably won't be late.

(Still, yesterday was quite a day.)

Today's horoscope ranked Sagittarius third, which is pretty good, so I feel relieved. For now, I decided to throw the rainbow trunks in the lucky bag because they were an especially cursed item.

(Every bad thing must have happened because of those trunks.)

Yesterday, during the seating change, I ended up surrounded by the top three beauties of the class. On top of that, I learned about Airi Miyama's past, the busty girl of the beauty group.

(I thought Miyama was just a busty, curvy beauty… I never expected she had been through so much.)

You shouldn't judge people by their appearance.

"Hey, Ryota! If you don't eat breakfast soon, your sister will eat your portion too!"

"Yeah, yeah."

Urged by my sister, I headed for breakfast.

After a leisurely breakfast, I went to school and sat in my seat, pulling out a light novel from my bag. Thanks to Miyama yesterday, I could buy the long-awaited paperback version of "Oppai Sui."

(I'm looking forward to seeing how far the erotic scenes go in the paperback version.)

"Why does that otaku…" On guy murmured, cutting himself off. He must've realized he was a bit loud.

"Yeah, changing seats was pointless." Another replied.

"He's only interested in 2D girls, right? Seriously, someone should switch with him." Third one looked at me.

As I tried to read my light novel alone, I heard jealous whispers from somewhere. It seemed like some male classmates were intentionally speaking loud enough for me to hear.

(Sigh… This is why it's a hassle to be seated near those three beauties.)

Sure, my seat surrounded by a busty beauty, a downer gal, and a pure black-haired beauty might be something other guys would drool over.

But for an introverted otaku like me, it's the worst seat. I admit I was sexually looking at Miyama's body, but I didn't want to get close to those three girls in the first place. If I meddle with those beauties, I'll lose my peaceful high school life.

(I'm content just being able to read light novels like this.)

Alright, let's ignore the surrounding noise and get back to my novel.

(Wow… The scene where the protagonist steals cheat skills by sucking the breasts of female adventurers is amazing. 100 points for eroticism. 100 points for "Shiko-tivity." Yeah, this is a winner.)

As I indulged in my thoughts with a grin, a shadow appeared in front of my seat… Huh?

"…You're Izumiya, right?"

When I looked up from my light novel, Yuria Ichinose stood there.

…What? Yuria Ichinose!?

She was wearing her school blazer loosely, exposing just the right shoulder of the shirt underneath, with a bag slung over her shoulder. Her glossy pink lips, shiny nails, and her usual bright chestnut hair stood out.

"I'm asking if your name is Izumiya."

"E-uh, y-yes."

"..."

"Um, Ichinose…?"

Ichinose glanced at the light novel in my hand and narrowed her eyes in a scrutinizing manner.

W-what's going on?

"…I've remembered."

Muttering under her breath, Ichinose sat down in her seat to my left.

Got it… What does that mean!?

Is it like those delinquents who say, "I'll remember your face"?

Oh no… She's already disliked me.

As expected, there's no such thing as a gal who is kind to Otakus. However, Miyama is more of a busty girl who is kind to everyone rather than specifically to Otakus.

Hmm? Speaking of Miyama… Did I forget something… Ah!

(Today at lunch, with Miyama…)

"Good morning, Yuria! Ah."

Miyama, greeting Ichinose in the morning, then looked over at me and winked with her right eye without saying anything.

"Hey Airi, why did you wink?"

"Oh, no reason? Airi is cute today too, right?"

Miyama awkwardly tried to brush it off.

H-hey, hey, hey!

It looks like we're a couple secretly dating or something!

(If I was a delusional otaku, I'd have fallen for it instantly… But no, I'm fine. Just a bit of a racing heart, that's all.)

With things like this, lunch is bound to bring even more trouble…
