Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Isekai Life

Within the northern part of the continent, lies the town of Herass; and within this town, in the secluded slums of the southwest part of the town, lies a single tree with a tiny makeshift house.

In this tiny home, made out of discarded wood, old sheets, and branches of a tree, lives a man who calls himself: Keith.

His eyes were still shut; tired from the last time he went out as a bag carrier for an adventurer team a day ago.

He wanted to sleep, but knew he couldn't afford to do so, annoyed and frustrated about it; he still stood up.

The moment he opened his eyes, what greeted him was not the familiar home of his; but this rundown place, which he now called home.

'Still in this place.'

He thought, seeing this godforsaken room; though he didn't like this place at all, he was still glad to have it.

Standing up from his bed, which was made of nothing but dried grass with a blanket on top of it; and made his way outside the house.

There was a single bucket set outside his home; the one he used to wash up in the morning.

Cleaning himself with this single bucket of water; he looked out and saw the familiar building of this town.

"Someone..... Please save me..." He called out, tired of living in this world.

Keith wasn't originally from this world; he was someone from Earth, from the Philippines.

He was simply a nobody in his world, someone you can find in any corner of the country; someone who was average at everything; be it sport, academics, social interaction, looks, and wealth.

A month ago on Earth; Keith was running in the street trying to find a shelter from the rain.

Living in the province and his home being near the farmlands, there was barely any structure that allowed him to do so.

Although there were many trees around the area that he could take shelter from, he didn't take cover under them; as he feared getting struck by lightning.

As he was about to find a shelter to take cover; he heard a cry of an animal.

Since it sounded hurt, he went looking for it, even though he would receive nothing from it.

After five minutes of looking for these cries, he found a small cat with a unique look on it.

The cat was small, so small that its entire body fit perfectly in his hand.

That wasn't the only thing that he found unique about this cat, when he grabbed it from a tiny hole on the tiny steep road; he felt a unique sensation from it.

Like his body was set in the middle of the ocean, being cared for by an unknown being that fixes every pain he has; when he felt this he looked at the cat with curiosity.

But, being in the rain, he first ran to the shelter he found and waited for the rain to stop.

Using his spare clothes, he put them on the cat hoping to warm it up with it.

Then he waited, waited for the rain to stop pouring, so he could go home.

But, it didn't stop, the rain just kept coming without any sign of stopping at all, that night had already started, and it was still going on.

In that time of waiting, Keith realized the rain was not stopping at all before the sunset even came; so he sat down, relaxed, and fell asleep.

When he woke up from his sleep, it was around nine already, and what greeted him was not the cat he had helped, but a woman with cat-like characteristics on her.

With just a quick glimpse, he realized this woman was naked entirely, making him turn his head away from him.

Before he could even ask anything at that time; a voice said:

"To think I would be touched by someone like you..... a manaless human, lower than goblins themselves."

Then before he knew it, his head was flying up in the air at the end of her words.

That was how he died in his world.

But, his life didn't end; instead, he found himself in this place; a world where monsters, magic, and even a system exist.

Yet, he learned something quickly before he could react to what was happening around him.

He couldn't understand what the people were saying around him, couldn't access the system either; nor did he get anything or awaken any hidden power in him.

With a blink of an eye, he found himself working as a bag carrier for the adventurers, earning a few coins that allowed him to buy some food for himself and basic needs.

With a stench of filth running to his nose, Keith was brought back to reality and found himself fixing the shoelaces of his leather boots.

This was his first achievement in this world, a gift or payment he got from the first adventurer who hired him.

Since then, he's been using this as his main footwear, as his black shoes were not fit for this world's terrain.

"Nothing to do now, guess I'll go to the guild and hope for another customer to recruit me." He said, leaving his house and making way to the guild.

Being illiterate in both speaking and writing, Keith is still not an adventurer, as communication is needed for him to be one.

Until he learns this world language, he would have to work as an outsider, receiving random payments from his customers; unlike the guild bag carrier with a fixed amount of payment.

"Let's hope the customers I'll have are good people," he hopes, recalling the last one being horrible.

Before he knew it, he was outside the guild building, with nothing on him, just a few copper coins, he sat down in his usual spot and waited.

Within the last month, he had been recruited five times already; with this he earned enough reputation for people to acknowledge his worth, allowing him to get his next recruiter without him doing much.

And within five minutes of waiting, a group went to him, putting down a bag of items on it.

Seeing this, he stood up and put the bag on himself, and followed this group.

Looking at his current customers, he found them young; they should be just a few years younger than him.

He was a college student before coming here, so he could tell these people before him should be around the age of 15-17.

The age when natives of this world got their coming of age ceremony, or received a blessing from their gods.

"I need to get blessed before this year, if not..... I don't think I can go on." He said, recalling that to access the system in this world, one needs to be blessed in the church or by a god.

Although there are other ways to gain access to the system, he knew this one was the best option as the others were too dangerous to take.

An example of this is clearing an entire dungeon on your own, when one clears a dungeon; the dungeon itself will bless you, allowing you to gain access to the system.

Another one is to use the awakening stone, but this one is the worst, as it does not guarantee you gaining all the system functions.

If you used this there's a chance you'll have a level limit of 10, where the actual limit of human level is 150.

And take into account that one needs to reach level 11 first before getting a class; too dangerous for him to take this path.

Before he knew it, the team he was currently with stopped, just in front of a labyrinth.

"A labyrinth? Not a dungeon?" Keith's question, seeing no white wall before the entrance of the cave.
