Chapter 1 - The Boy Who Borrowed Time

Arif was not like other boys. While his friends chased footballs and laughed loudly in the streets, he spent his afternoons sitting quietly beside an old clock shop at the corner of the market.

The shop belonged to a mysterious old man named Mr. Hossain. No one knew exactly how old he was, and some people whispered that he had been there for decades—unchanged.

One rainy afternoon, Arif stepped inside the shop for the first time. The air smelled of rust and memories. Hundreds of clocks ticked together, but strangely, each one showed a different time.

"Looking for something?" the old man asked without turning around.

"I… I want more time," Arif replied softly.

The old man smiled. "Everyone does. But very few are willing to pay the price."

Arif didn't understand, but he nodded anyway.

The old man handed him a small silver watch. "This will give you one extra hour every day. But remember—time borrowed must be returned."

From that day, Arif's life changed. He studied more, helped his family, and even had time to dream. Every day, when the world slept, he lived an extra hour no one else could see.

Years passed. Arif became successful, respected, and wise. But one night, the watch stopped ticking.

Panicked, he rushed back to the old shop. But it was gone.

In its place stood an empty wall.

Then he heard a faint ticking—from his own chest.

A voice whispered, "Now, it's time to return what you borrowed."

Arif realized the truth. That extra hour had been taken from his future. And now, his time had come sooner than it should have.

He closed his eyes, not with regret—but with understanding.

Because in the end, it's not how much time we have…

…but how we choose to spend it.
