"I clearly remember dying. How did I come back to life?"
Inside the Sanctum Sanctorum, Aunt May, still shaken, accepted the hot water Michelle Jones handed her. After taking a sip, she spoke with lingering fear.
She clearly remembered being pierced through the chest by a spike from that red and black monster. Yet now, she was completely unharmed. There was not even a trace of blood on her clothes, and the clothes themselves had not been torn open. It was simply too miraculous.
"It was Peter. He used the power of rules to save you."
Doctor Strange yawned, then sat down nearby and pulled out the book Peter had given him, continuing to read. He had not slept in almost five days.
"That kid has that kind of ability?"
Aunt May was deeply puzzled. Since when had her little Peter become so powerful?
"I think it should be the other Spider-Man beside Peter, right? He's Peter too, isn't he?"
Happy, the chubby old man, was indeed someone who had followed Iron Man. His thoughts immediately opened up.
"Yes. He comes from the multiverse. He's a very unusual Spider-Man. I have to admit, even I admire him. Also, could someone pour me a cup of hot water? I'm a little thirsty too."
After nearly five days without a single drop of water, Doctor Strange finally realized how thirsty he was after gaining some understanding of the magic.
"Here you go, Doctor!"
"Thank you, chubby kid. Wait, the sling ring on your hand..."
After taking the water, Doctor Strange noticed that Ned was wearing a sling ring identical to his own, and he looked at him in confusion.
"Oh, this... I found it. I'll take it off and give it back right now! Uh... why can't I take it off?"
Ned started sweating in panic. He had clearly used all his strength, but he still could not get the ring off. Then he looked awkwardly at Doctor Strange and said, "Do you have any soap?"
"The sling ring has recognized you as its owner. Unless you become a qualified sorcerer, you won't be able to take it off whenever you want. Even I can't do anything about that."
"Hey, I knew my grandma didn't lie to me! Sorcerer blood really does run in my family!"
Ned excitedly looked at the ring on his hand, then started waving his hands around in excitement. Very quickly, a ring of light appeared in the space in front of him, similar to magical sparks. The ring had only just opened before it closed again.
Doctor Strange, who had just taken a sip of hot water, widened his eyes and almost sprayed the water out.
A portal?
What kind of monster was this chubby kid?
Back then, it had taken him a long time to learn this.
Why did this guy figure it out in one try?
And he had only seen Strange use it once, less than three minutes ago. This learning ability was way too ridiculous.
"I... I can use magic?"
"Hmph. You're still far from it."
Doctor Strange spoke somewhat jealously. This talent for magic was truly absurd. Even if he did not want to admit it, he had to.
"This ring..."
"Keep it. I have more."
"So, I was saved by Peter from another world."
Aunt May finally came back to her senses and remembered the other person in a Spider-Man suit standing beside her nephew Peter. So that was also her nephew Peter, only from another universe.
"Are they still not back?"
Ultimate Gwen asked with some worry. Although she trusted their strength, symbiotes sounded like a terrifying kind of thing. More people would definitely be better than fewer.
"Don't worry. I already gave them the sealing container."
"Mm..."
"Heh, heh, heh. It worked!"
In the far corner, Doctor Octopus Otto and Otto Parker, who had been researching the combination of science and magic, spoke in unison.
In their hands was something similar to a nano bracelet or wristwatch. Strange tadpole-like runes were engraved on it, and magical power flowed through it.
Because of the limitations of the device, they could only engrave a rune that granted portal-like abilities. However, this also proved that the combination of magic and technology was feasible.
Moreover, it was also a defensive device. It could absorb magical energy to provide a small shield, blocking critical damage when necessary.
"What a bunch of weirdos. Everyone who hangs around that guy is a monster."
Doctor Strange shook his head with a bitter smile. Then he took out a small notebook from inside his robes and tossed it to Ned before returning to his small bedroom to continue studying magic.
Ned caught the notebook in confusion and saw the words Sorcerer's Notes written on the cover.
It contained Doctor Strange's insights from practicing magic, as well as some clever uses for magic. Of course, it only recorded some support-type magic, basic magic, and a few combat spells.
But signature spells like clones were not recorded inside, because some spells had to be created by the sorcerer personally. Giving those things directly to another sorcerer could instead lead that sorcerer down the wrong path.
Technology needed innovation, and so did magic.
Meanwhile, on the other side...
"Hey, those flaming fists don't feel great, do they?"
Peter slammed Carnage away with a fierce punch, black flames still burning on the other party's face.
Before Carnage could even land, the younger Peter clasped both hands together, forming a massive hammer-like fist, then smashed him down with a brutal slam, sending Carnage crashing hard into the ground.
"You bastard! You sick freak! I should have killed you back then instead of sending you to prison!"
The younger Peter cursed while beating him.
"Now you should understand the lesson, right? Against certain people, killing them is the better option."
Peter dodged Carnage as he stood back up, then spoke to the younger Peter.
The younger Peter nodded. Then the two of them punched out together.
Their fists, wrapped in flames, carried both physical and magical attacks, making Carnage suffer badly.
Although he and Cletus were highly compatible, they had only just fused and could not truly unleash their full strength. On top of that, he was weak against high temperatures, so he was indeed at a disadvantage.
With a scream from Carnage, many sharp tendrils suddenly emerged from his back and attacked the two Spider-Men. While dodging the attacks, the two Spider-Men did not forget to strike back. However, their suits were also cut into a terrible state, which showed just how sharp those tendrils were.
"What else am I supposed to say? How else can I say it? The appearance of this red monster has caused heavy casualties and devastation in Queens. You have all seen it with your own eyes. When will everyone finally open their eyes?"
"It is precisely because Spider-Man appeared that all kinds of monsters started appearing too. He is chaos and disaster itself. Wherever he goes, misfortune follows. Are we innocent civilians supposed to deal with these dangers and clean up his mess too?"
"This is J. Jonah Jameson, reporting live!"
Peter sharply picked up the familiar yet unfamiliar voice reporting from downstairs, and irritation immediately rose in him.
Why was this guy everywhere?
"You fight him on your own for a while. I'm going to beat up that rotten old man!"
"Hey, wait!"
The younger Peter had just tried to stop him, but Peter had already jumped out the window and locked onto the old man downstairs wearing a hat and holding a microphone.
This old bastard.
Just beat him up and be done with it.
