Chapter 1 - Where the Moon remembers

Sky

The night has sunk into its deepest hour, when the world grows quiet enough for memories to speak. The streets have long since emptied. Somewhere, weary souls have already surrendered to sleep after a day of endless toil, while others remain beneath dim lights, chasing tomorrow with tired hands.

I draw a slow, steady breath before reaching for the cup of coffee resting on the table. The warmth seeps faintly into my palms as I carry it with me to the terrace.

Above me, the moon hangs in the vastness of the sky— silent, distant, yet unwavering. The only light left to witness this lonely hour.

I lift my eyes to it.

It has been a year, Luna.

The words fall from my lips like a confession meant for no one but the night.

A familiar ache rises quietly in my chest. My vision blurs as tears gather along the edge of my eyes, and this time I make no effort to hold them back. They slip down my face without resistance, as though they have been waiting far too long for their release.

A soft, broken laugh escapes me.

I must look like a fool… standing here, speaking to the moon as if it could carry my voice to you.

A year has passed.

Time, relentless as ever, continued forward without hesitation. The world moved on as it always does. People forgot. Smiles replaced old sorrows. Life reshaped itself around the absence you left behind.

But I…

I remain here.

Somewhere between yesterday and forever.

Because no matter how many days the calendar steals away, I still return to the same memories— the ones where you are still beside me.

I remember your smile most of all. The one that could soften even the cruelest day. The way your laughter filled the silence like sunlight through an open window.

Your voice… God, your voice.

It lingered in my ears like a melody I never wished to end.

And your presence— so quiet, so gentle— had a way of calming the storms inside me without you ever needing to say a word.

You were my peace.

My warmth.

My home.

And now all that remains of you lives only in fragments of memory, scattered across the corners of my heart.

I still look for you sometimes.

In crowded streets.

In familiar places.

In every silver glow of the moon that watches over this restless night.

As if, somehow, the sky might return you to me.

My Luna.

God… how unbearably I miss you.
