Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Invasion

It was supposed to be an ordinary day in Ponyville. Ponies strolled about cheerfully, going about their routines: a vibrant pink pony spreading laughter and joy through her parties, a pegasus with a rainbow-colored mane streaking across the sky at breathtaking speeds, a hardworking cowgirl tending to the apple orchards alongside her family, a timid pegasus caring gently for her animals, a refined unicorn meticulously tailoring elegant dresses, and an alicorn princess immersed in her books within the quiet sanctuary of her library.

A small, adorable purple dragon pushed open the castle doors, inhaling the fresh air with a contented sigh as he casually munched on an emerald gem.

"It's a beautiful day out there, Twilight," Spike remarked, finishing the gem in a single bite. "Why don't you spend some time with your friends today? Weren't you all planning a beach party but never found the time because of your busy schedules?"

Twilight looked up from her book, pausing as she considered his words. "Perhaps you're right, Spike. I have been far too engrossed in my studies lately. Pinkie has been asking me every single day. Today might be the perfect opportunity for that beach party." She rose from her seat, stretching both her body and wings.

"Alright! Should I go talk to Pinkie about it?" Spike offered eagerly.

Twilight smiled faintly. "No, let's go together."

As they stepped out of the Castle of Friendship, Twilight was immediately greeted by Pinkie Pie, who bounced in place with uncontainable excitement.

"Twilight! Are you excited? I'm excited! Everypony's excited for the beach party later! I'm so happy you're finally available today!" Pinkie giggled, practically vibrating with enthusiasm.

"Sorry for being so busy until now, Pinkie," Twilight replied. "So, the party is this afternoon?"

"Oh yeah! I can't wait to tell everypony! Be right ba—!" Pinkie suddenly froze mid-motion, her gaze snapping upward toward the sky.

High above Equestria, barely visible against the brilliance of the midday sun, a faint distortion shimmered in the atmosphere. At first, Twilight—and everypony else—assumed it to be nothing more than an unusual atmospheric anomaly, perhaps an oddly refracting meteor trail. But then the specks multiplied. What had begun as a single glimmer became dozens, then hundreds, arranged in precise geometric formations.

Twilight's breath caught in her throat as her mind raced. "What is happening? I checked the astronomical charts and catalogued all magical phenomena last night. Nothing indicated this…"

The sky itself seemed to recoil. A subtle vibration rippled through the air, like the deep resonance of a struck tuning fork echoing through reality itself. The distant objects grew larger as they descended, their forms resolving into vast metallic structures. They resembled warships—immense, angular vessels moving in perfect, terrifying synchronization.

Across Ponyville, market stalls were abandoned as citizens craned their necks skyward. Pegasi hovering above faltered mid-flight, their wings trembling against the unfamiliar distortion in the air. Animals fled in panic, scattering toward the Everfree Forest. The descending armada cast immense shadows over fields and rooftops, dimming the sunlight as if the day itself were being eclipsed.

Twilight's thoughts spiraled as realization slowly took hold. The formations, the command hierarchy implied by the larger vessels, the coordinated deployment vectors—it all pointed to one undeniable conclusion. This was not a random occurrence. It was not an accident.

This was an invasion.

"Pinkie…" Twilight's voice wavered slightly as her horn ignited with volatile magic, her instincts taking over. "Get everypony. Now."

For once, Pinkie Pie did not argue. She did not joke. The fear in Twilight's expression was enough. Without hesitation, she bolted toward town at incredible speed, her body trembling as her Pinkie Sense flared violently. The sheer intensity of the warning overwhelmed her senses, threatening to paralyze her with its urgency.

Twilight remained still for only a moment longer, watching as smaller crafts detached from the colossal carriers above, descending in controlled arcs toward key locations across Equestria. Her gaze shifted toward Canterlot in the distance. Surely Princess Celestia and Princess Luna could see this. Surely they would act.

Then it came—the first rupture.

A deafening crack tore through the sky as one of the massive vessels broke through the cloud layer. Its engines emitted a piercing resonance that shattered nearby structures and sent pegasi spiraling helplessly downward. The ground quaked violently as a shockwave surged outward, far more devastating than any earthquake.

Instinctively, Twilight erected a protective barrier around herself and the nearby ponies. Yet within the roar of the descending engines, she sensed something else—a presence woven into the sound itself. It pressed against her mind, foreign and invasive. It was not magic as she understood it. It was something else entirely—a different kind of power she had never encountered before.

Far above, beyond the perception of most, a solitary figure observed the unfolding invasion.

Within the command vessel's core stood a being clad in a matte-black armored bodysuit, its angular plating lined with faint magenta luminescence. A smooth, neon-purple visor concealed his face, while stark white, spiked hair rose unnaturally above the helmet. He stood in silence, calculating, cold, and filled with restrained wrath.

"I have waited cycles for the alignment of this plane—this nexus of ambient resonance," he murmured. "This world… Equestria… is unlike the fractured biospheres of Earth. It harbors untapped reserves of energy that defy psionic classification."

He stepped forward, his form flickering against a holographic projection of the planet. "For a year, I have observed them—studied their strengths, their weaknesses. I will not repeat the catastrophic failures of my predecessors. I will learn. I will infiltrate. I will perfect what remains."

A chilling certainty settled into his voice.

"New ADVENT shall rise… and no force—not even a monster like the Commander—will stand between me and the realization of true immortality."

Meanwhile, Twilight rushed toward the center of Ponyville as confusion and rising panic spread among the townsponies.

"Everypony! Listen to me!" Twilight called out, her voice firm despite the tension in her chest. "This is not a meteor shower! This is an organized force! We must move to the designated safety points immediately!"

At the princess's urgent command, the crowd erupted into motion. Panic set in as ponies scrambled to evacuate. Rainbow Dash and Applejack, having just arrived, immediately took charge, ensuring nopony was left behind or trampled in the chaos. Amid it all, Twilight continued to feel that invasive pressure pressing against her mind. It intensified with each passing second—like cold hooves probing at a locked door. She pushed back with her magic, forcing it away, but the effort was suffocating.

Then, an explosion shattered the air.

Everypony froze. Their eyes turned toward Canterlot, the capital of Equestria, where several of the massive aircraft now descended, their presence marked by fire and destruction.

"Twilight! What in tarnation is going on?" Applejack galloped toward her, her voice strained with confusion as she stared at the mechanical monstrosities looming in the sky.

The rest of their friends—Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash—gathered close, with Pinkie Pie arriving moments later. All of them shared the same stunned disbelief at the sudden appearance of these otherworldly invaders.

"I don't know," Twilight admitted, her voice tight with urgency, "but we need to get to Canterlot! Princess Celestia and Princess Luna could be in danger!"

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Rainbow Dash declared, already preparing to launch herself skyward, eager to confront the invaders head-on.

Before she could gain altitude, however, a sleek aircraft intercepted her, forcing her to halt mid-flight. Her eyes widened as she glanced around. More of the crafts pursued other pegasi, matching their speed with alarming precision. Devices were fired from the ships—strange mechanisms that latched onto wings, immediately grounding those struck.

"What the—!?" Rainbow Dash twisted and dodged the incoming projectiles before retreating to the ground. "They're already here!"

"There are… so many of them…" Fluttershy whispered, trembling as she crouched low, her hooves covering her face.

Several of the aircraft descended, landing with mechanical precision. Their doors opened, and from within emerged humanoid figures clad in advanced armor, each wielding weapons far beyond anything the ponies had ever seen. Panic rippled through the crowd at the sight of these unknown beings—everypony except Twilight, whose confusion deepened.

"They look like humans…" she murmured, her brow furrowed. "From the world I visited—but that doesn't make sense. Why aren't they ponies?"

"Mor balaten!" one of the armored figures barked—his tone authoritative, marking him as a captain.

More soldiers poured out from the aircraft. Among them were ponies—ponies clad in the same oppressive armor, moving with rigid obedience. The sight sent a shockwave of disbelief through the crowd. These ponies spoke no words, offering no explanation, merely following orders without hesitation.

"What is going on? And those outfits—positively ghastly," Rarity remarked, recoiling slightly before conjuring a shield just in time to deflect a crackling plasma beam. "Oh dear…"

"Everypony! Run!" Twilight commanded.

The crowd scattered in terror, screams filling the air as the armored invaders surged forward. Pegasi soldiers pursued fleeing ponies through the sky, restraining them mid-flight. Unicorn soldiers immobilized others with bursts of magic. The humanoid troops advanced methodically, aiming their weapons at those cornered, incapacitating them with stun lances and other unfamiliar devices. Restraints were clamped onto wings and horns, while earth ponies were bound with heavy hoof-cuffs.

"Get off them!" Rainbow Dash shouted, diving forward as she struck a stun lancer, sending him crashing into a group of soldiers and knocking them to the ground.

Applejack followed suit, delivering a powerful kick to an armored pegasus before swinging her lasso, binding multiple soldiers who had cornered a frightened family.

"There are too many of 'em!" Applejack grunted, narrowly dodging projectiles aimed to restrain her.

Twilight and Spike soon found themselves surrounded. Gritting her teeth, Twilight gathered all the magic she could muster into her horn before releasing it in a powerful shockwave, blasting the enemies away. Yet even as she fought, uncertainty gnawed at her. There were too many. Far too many for her and her friends to handle alone.

Then, a thought surfaced—unbidden, yet undeniable.

I need the Elements of Harmony to end this.

Twilight didn't know why her mind had reached for that solution, but she trusted it. If they could channel the Elements against whoever commanded this armada, perhaps they could end the invasion before it consumed Ponyville entirely. It was a desperate plan—but it was all they had.

"We need to get the Elements of Harmony!" Twilight called out, teleporting and weaving through blasts of plasma and energy. "We have to reach the Tree of Harmony! It may be the only way to defeat them!"

"W-Would that even be enough? Eek!" Fluttershy cried as a grenade landed near her.

Rainbow Dash swooped in, kicking it back toward its source before it could detonate near them. "Are you okay, Fluttershy!?"

Fluttershy nodded shakily, her entire body trembling from the overwhelming violence. Not even their encounters with Queen Chrysalis or Tirek had felt this terrifying.

"We don't have another option," Twilight said, casting one last glance toward Canterlot, unease tightening her chest at the absence of the princesses. "We'll return the Elements afterward, but for now… it's our best chance."

"Then let us be off! I can scarcely bear to look at those… things any longer," Rarity declared, hastily retreating from an advancing soldier.

Together, the Mane Six fled toward the Everfree Forest, Spike clinging tightly to Twilight's back as they raced for the Tree of Harmony. Twilight slowed for only a moment, glancing back at Ponyville—at the ponies being restrained, at the chaos unfolding before her eyes.

She didn't understand what was happening. She didn't know where these invaders had come from. And she certainly didn't understand why some ponies were fighting alongside them.

"Come on, Twi! We're running out of time!" Applejack called, waiting with the others at the forest's edge.

"Yeah! This is totally just a villain-of-the-week thing and definitely not the start of some huge story arc! We'll still have our beach party later!" Pinkie Pie chirped, bouncing in place in an attempt to lift their spirits.

Twilight exhaled softly, a faint smile breaking through her tension. "Yeah… let's go."

"I've got a bad feeling about this," Spike muttered under his breath. For a moment, doubt lingered—but he quickly shook it off, choosing to hold onto Pinkie's optimism as they disappeared into the forest.

Once the Mane Six reached the Tree of Harmony deep within the Everfree Forest, Twilight wasted no time. Channeling her magic, she carefully removed the Elements from the tree, restoring them to the jeweled necklaces they wore. Without hesitation, they rushed out of the cavern and began their swift return to Ponyville. The sooner they could unleash the Elements—whether to banish the invaders or turn them to stone—the sooner everything might return to normal.

But just as they pressed forward, they abruptly halted. Pinkie Pie froze in place.

Her body trembled as her Pinkie Sense erupted with overwhelming intensity, sending waves of prickling sensations across her skin. To her, it felt like countless tiny bites crawling over her entire body—like bedbugs, as she would describe it. The others needed no further explanation. Trusting her instincts completely, they immediately assumed defensive stances.

"You okay there, Pinkie?" Applejack asked, concern lacing her voice as Pinkie continued to twitch from the sensation.

"Yep! Yep! It's ticklish and fun! Annoying—but fun!" Pinkie replied with an uneasy laugh.

"Stay alert," Twilight instructed, her horn glowing as magic gathered at its tip. "They could come from anywhere."

The forest responded with sudden violence. Branches snapped, bushes rustled—and then, without warning, five timberwolves were hurled into the clearing, their wooden bodies smashing apart as they struck the ground. The shattered remains lay still, showing no signs of reassembling.

What followed was far worse.

Two massive creatures emerged from the shadows, their forms grotesque and imposing. Their pale, greyish-pink leathery skin stretched tightly over exaggerated, almost gorilla-like frames. Long, powerful arms dangled low, ending in enormous clawed hands. Each of them stood nearly as tall as the surrounding trees—comparable in size to a manticore.

One of them dragged a lifeless manticore by its neck.

"What is that!?" Rarity cried out, recoiling in horror at the creatures' appearance, her voice tinged with sorrow as she looked upon the fallen beast.

"Oh my—!" Fluttershy gasped, covering her mouth as tears welled in her eyes. She recognized the manticore—the very same one she had helped moons ago, when she had removed a thorn from its paw.

"Whatever they are, they don't stand a chance against us!" Rainbow Dash declared, slamming her hooves together with a confident smirk. "We've beaten powerful enemies before—and we'll do it again!"

The hulking creatures answered with thunderous roars, their rage palpable. One of them suddenly hurled the manticore's corpse toward the group.

"Dodge!" Twilight shouted.

They scattered just in time, narrowly avoiding the massive projectile as it crashed into the ground. Their eyes widened in shock and horror at the sheer strength displayed. Had it struck them, it would have been like being hit by multiple Sonic Rainbooms at once.

"Okay… maybe we shouldn't underestimate them," Rainbow Dash muttered, her confidence faltering as she reassessed the threat.

Without warning, a long, whip-like tongue shot through the air and latched onto Fluttershy's neck. She was yanked backward before she could react. A serpentine, alien creature revealed itself, coiling tightly around her body. It constricted with crushing force, pinning her limbs and slowly suffocating her.

"Fluttershy!" the others cried in unison.

Fueled by anger, Rainbow Dash launched herself toward the creature, intent on saving her friend. But before she could reach her, another figure intercepted her mid-flight. She was slammed against a tree and pinned in place by an entirely different being.

This one was tall, almost ethereal in appearance—angelic, yet unsettling. Radiant energy wings extended from its back, shimmering with unnatural light. Its armor was ornate, gleaming in hues of gold and white, almost ceremonial in design. It resembled a fallen angel brought to life.

"Oh my Celestia! They look fabulous—but this is hardly the time to admire them!" Rarity exclaimed, torn between awe and urgency as two of her friends remained in immediate danger.

Twilight's composure faltered for a brief moment before she steadied herself. "Applejack, I'll get Fluttershy! You and Pinkie distract those larger creatures! Rarity, try to get that thing off Rainbow Dash!"

"Yes!" they all responded without hesitation.

Applejack and Pinkie Pie charged toward the two hulking creatures. One of them immediately lunged at Applejack, raising its massive arms before slamming them down with crushing force. She leapt backward just in time, narrowly avoiding the impact, then retaliated with a powerful kick that struck its torso. The blow staggered the creature only a few meters, barely affecting its stance.

Applejack's eyes widened in surprise at its resilience. "Dadgum… it's like kicking a giant apple. Tough as nails."

Meanwhile, Pinkie Pie giggled as she darted around the second creature, her movements erratic and unpredictable, which only seemed to enrage it further.

"Hey! Do you like cake?" she chirped, effortlessly dodging its wild swings and ground-shaking slams. "Cake always makes things better! Maybe if you eat some, you'll turn into a gentle giant! Wait—can you even eat cake? Is that a thing? You're not allergic, are you? I hope not, because you're really missing out!"

Irritated beyond measure, the creature lashed out wildly, swinging its arm with reckless force. The blow struck its companion squarely in the head before Applejack could even react to the incoming attack.

The second creature turned, enraged, and immediately redirected its fury toward its ally. Within seconds, the two titans were locked in a brutal clash, trading devastating blows that shook the surrounding forest.

"Well, that worked out," Applejack muttered, exhaling in relief. "Come on, Pinkie!"

"Okie~!" Pinkie chirped, bouncing after her. As they retreated, she turned her head back toward the battling giants. "Let me know your favorite cake!"

Elsewhere, Twilight took to the air, flying straight toward the serpentine creature. It responded instantly, spraying a stream of venom in her direction. She twisted mid-flight, narrowly avoiding the attack, and countered with a concentrated beam of magic. The creature dodged, retreating just enough to release its hold on Fluttershy as it slithered backward to create distance.

"Are you alright, Fluttershy?" Twilight asked urgently.

Fluttershy coughed softly before nodding. "I'm… fine." Her gaze shifted toward the creature. "It looks like a snake. Maybe I can talk to it…"

Twilight gently helped her to her hooves, her expression tense. "I don't think it will listen. I can sense something in its mind—something foreign. It isn't acting on its own." She paused, her voice lowering. "Something is controlling these creatures."

Nearby, Rarity focused her magic, grasping the angelic abomination and wrenching it away from Rainbow Dash. She succeeded—but not before the creature lashed out with its staff, striking Rainbow and knocking her unconscious against the ground.

The winged entity turned toward Rarity and let out a piercing, inhuman roar. Startled, she yelped, her concentration faltering as her magical grip slipped.

Rarity let out a nervous laugh. "Perhaps… I could interest you in some fabulous attire?"

The creature shrieked again, its radiant wings flaring as they emitted a sharp, mechanical whir. In an instant, it propelled itself forward at blinding speed, charging directly at her.

Before it could reach her, Rainbow Dash surged back to consciousness. With a burst of determination, she launched herself forward, tackling the creature out of the air and slamming it into the ground. She struck it repeatedly, each blow more forceful than the last, until it lay still beneath her.

"Nobody messes with my friends!" Rainbow Dash shouted, glaring down at the now-lifeless creature, its face crushed beyond recognition.

Her expression shifted abruptly. "Fluttershy! Is she okay!?"

"I'm fine…" Fluttershy replied, flying over alongside Twilight.

Rarity approached soon after, brushing herself off with a relieved sigh.

"Is everypony alright?" Twilight asked, her concern evident as her eyes briefly lingered on the fallen angelic creature.

Applejack rejoined them moments later, breathing heavily, sweat glistening on her brow. Pinkie Pie followed close behind, still brimming with energy, seemingly unfazed by the lifeless form nearby.

"Oh boy! These creatures are no joke!" Pinkie exclaimed, pointing enthusiastically toward the distance where the two hulking beasts continued their destructive brawl, their blows shaking the trees around them. "They even fight each other! I hope they work things out!"

"I sincerely hope this nightmare ends soon," Rarity said, her tone laced with exhaustion. "I have dresses to complete, and I am dangerously close to missing my deadline. This… adventure is far more dreadful than our usual affairs."

"Let's move!" Twilight urged.

Without another moment's delay, the group pressed on, racing back toward Ponyville before more of the unknown creatures could intercept them.
