Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

It was dark and cold.

Of course it was the void, where all things are returned to at the end of time. It was a place that existed outside time and space, yet was considered point (0,0) on the graph, the origin point. In here that existed nothing, and only a few could walk the seas of churning chaos that dwelt in this land.

Well, only a few should be able to. But, defying all expectations, there is something here that shouldn't be. A white orb of fire, a soul from a living human seemingly drifted here. To the one who was currently walking the chaotic seas, it was a sight to behold. "Oh, a mortal soul has made its way here, fascinating" said the angel with golden wings. Crimson hair and dressed like a warrior was the angel Raphael.

The soul quivered in nervousness, proving it wondered consciously into the void. Curious and curiouser. The angel picked up the soul with his glowing form and the soul, seemingly was shaking in fright, yet the aura of the angle eventually soothed its woes and fears. Raphael was a protector, one of the four archangels. While he was no Michael, he was still powerful in his own right, even greater in the mights of the arcane and law.

"How did you get here little one?" asked Raphael and the soul seemingly tried to speak, but soon released a sound of frustration that surely hid words not meant for younger ears. Raphael chuckled a little bit as he uttered a word, a singular word to bring forth a spiritual corpus to house the soul.

"Qaal Izizop."

Those two words shook the foundations of the world and the laws of void and matter bent to his will as a corpus of spiritual matter manifested around the soul and with it, the soul seemingly gained a medium for its voice.

"Jesus, that was frustrating" said the man who lack distinct features but still had mouth and nose and ears and eyes. "Sorry" he said immediately in the angels presence. The angel chuckled. "Im sure my brother does not mind his name said, but do be careful of the tone you use it in" Raphael responded as the soul nodded.

"Now, why did you wonder from the stream? Surely nothing outside of it could excite you that much?"asked Raphael as the soul answered immediately. "Well, I was curious on what was outside the stream, and the stream was boring" he said, seemingly voicing all he had to say. "You sure are strange, what's your name?" asked Raphael as the man seemingly blanked until it suddenly appeared in his head. "Blake Michaelson" he said as if he remembered an answer on the test.

"Ah Blake, it takes a very special soul to survive the void as all who wonder it without sufficient authority and power are crushed" Raphael warned and the soul nodded, seemingly sorry for apparently upsetting the angel. "Sorry" he said but Raphael waved it off. "Nonsense, you have nothing to be sorry about, it was just a warning" smiled Raphael warmly as he began to escort the soul back until a messenger came. A lesser angel bowed in Raphael's presence and after delivering a message, vanished in light.

"Well now, that makes things different" said Raphael as apparently the message said for Raphael to accomplish a different task. "Change of plans Blake, we are on a different course now" said Raphael as he disappeared in a column of light to another room with a gilded gate built into a white wall.

"Well, you are destined for a different path than heaven" said Raphael as the man began to sweat. "Am I going to hell?" he asked timidly as Raphael laughed. "No, no you are far too good for Hell. You have been given a special option, reincarnation" said Raphael as the man looked confused. "I thought reincarnation was more of an eastern thing?" said the soul and Raphael nodded. "Yes, the divinities in the east mainly handle reincarnation, but sometimes we will handle some cases as the Lord permits" said Raphael as he shifted through some papers and began writing stuff down.

"So, how does this work?" asked the soul. "Essentially, we give you a predetermined power and you are sent to a world already picked. I know it sounds unfair, but its a world we believe is best" said Raphael and was surprised the soul had no complaints. "Im sure you know better than me, especially being alive as long as you have" said the soul and Raphael like his kindness.

"Thank you for trusting us. I do have a question, were you a man of the cloth?" asked Raphael. "No, but I do worship" said the man. "If you don't mind, can you pray every once in a while, don't worry prayer will have benefit with the magic there as well" said Raphael, offering some bonus info. "Neat" said the soul as Raphael finished what he needed and the gilded gates frame began to alight itself with greenish light and Raphael accompanied Blake to the portal. "Thank you sir" said Blake. "You don't have to thank me, but I do appreciate it" said raphael as he sent Blake through the portal, and unbeknownst to him, sent a small present for his kindness down the road.

"I wonder what he will get up to" said Raphael as he looked over the paper he was working on, and the description was perplexing to him. "Huh, I never thought one would be born in the modern age, who would have thought" said Raphael as he filed the paper in a special cabinet. It was full of important documents that needed to be kept safe and watched.

'Who knew a modern saint would be born' was his thought, and the thought of the other major angels.

Of course, Blake knew none of this but it wouldn't have impacted him anyway.

This is the journey of a saint.

A/N: Man a new fanfiction, I wonder if I will ever finish the others? Hey guys, sorry for starting a new one instead of finishing the old one. I feel like I wrote myself into a corner, and maybe overthinking the comments made me sluggish about it. So, I started a new one with a lower word count objective so I can try to get more out without feeling like I'm going through mud. Hope you enjoy!
