Synopsis
In the ruthless cultivation world of the Tianhuang Realm, destiny is everything. Talent, power, and even survival are determined by the Heavenly Mandate, an unseen force that decides who rises as an immortal and who fades into obscurity. Lin Xu was born with nothing. No spiritual root, no talent, and worst of all—no fate. Branded as useless and cast aside by the very world that worships strength, his future seemed destined to end in the dust of a spirit mine. But fate itself makes a mistake. Deep within the mine, Lin Xu discovers a forbidden relic: a fragment of the Heavenly Ledger, the very book used by the heavens to record the destiny of all beings. With it, he gains the impossible ability to alter the lines of fate themselves—changing events that were never meant to change. Yet rewriting destiny comes with a terrifying cost. Every alteration echoes across the heavens, drawing the attention of ancient powers who govern the fate of countless worlds. As Lin Xu rises through the brutal path of cultivation—from Qi Gathering to the heights of immortality—he will uncover a truth far more dangerous than he ever imagined: The heavens do not simply watch the world. They control it. And now that Lin Xu holds the pen that can rewrite destiny, the entire cosmos may soon discover what happens when a man with no fate decides to challenge the will of heaven itself.

Chapter 1 - Chapter One - The Boy Without Fate

The wind carried dust and the faint scent of spirit stone across Qinghe Village.

In the central square, the villagers had gathered for the Heaven Fate Test. A massive crystal hovered above a stone platform, its surface shimmering faintly as it waited to judge the futures of the children.

Talent. Destiny. Life.

For the chosen, the crystal would glow in vibrant colors, revealing the potential to rise as a cultivator. For the ordinary, it would flicker dimly. For those without fate… the crystal remained cold, silent, indifferent.

Lin Xu stood at the back of the line. His clothes were simple, his hands calloused from the spirit mines where he worked. He had watched others step forward, hope written on their faces.

The first child touched the crystal. Faint gray light. A mediocre fate, barely enough to enter a sect. Another child, a girl, caused the crystal to glow soft blue—talent enough to join a sect and possibly rise further.

Children continued, light after light: gray, gray, blue, purple. Lin Xu's heart was steady. He had expected this. He had always expected the world would look through him as if he were invisible.

Finally, it was his turn. He stepped forward, heart calm, eyes fixed on the crystal.

He placed his palm against it.

Nothing.

Not even a flicker.

The elders frowned. They tapped the crystal with their Qi. Still nothing.

"No spiritual root," one elder announced. "No Heaven Fate."

A hush fell over the square. Whispers turned to laughter.

"Useless boy," someone jeered. "Even mortals have at least gray fate!"

Lin Xu lowered his hand slowly, masking the tightening in his chest. Life had never been kind, and today was no different. He turned away from the platform, walking quietly toward the mountains.

The path led him to the spirit mines, where he had worked since the age of ten. Others labored beside him, breaking spirit stones, breathing dust, living short lives. Lin Xu joined them silently, moving with the practiced motions of someone long resigned.

Hours passed as he struck stone after stone, the clang of pickaxe echoing through the mine. Then his pickaxe struck something hard, a small metallic glint beneath layers of dust.

He knelt and uncovered it. A thin black book lay buried in the rock, its surface covered with strange symbols. It felt… heavy. Cold. Almost alive.

Lin Xu frowned. He had seen odd relics in the mines before, but never anything like this. He flipped the cover. The pages were blank.

Then, slowly, words began to appear.

Name: Lin Xu

Fate Grade: None

Death: Age 17 – Crushed during outer sect trial

He froze. It read like a ledger of his life, neat and indifferent.

A brush rolled from the spine of the book, stopping beside the page. Lin Xu hesitated, then tentatively touched it.

A premonition flickered in his mind: brief images of past failures, of others who had dared to alter what was written. Pain. Death. Regret.

He withdrew. The book was powerful, yes, but fragile. Dangerous. He did not yet understand it. And he would not rush.

For now, it lay beside him, a mystery buried in the mine. Lin Xu returned to his work, striking stone as if nothing had happened. He was a boy without fate, but even in that powerless state, he felt… a quiet seed of possibility.

Somewhere deep in the blackness of the mine, the Ledger waited.

And the first threads of a story that Heaven had not prepared for were beginning to stir.
