Chapter 1 - Prologue

Jake Callison died and woke up in an apartment two blocks down from the Kame Game Shop in Domino City. He didn't get a Millennium Item, nor did he get a Spirit Partner. Instead, he received the "Akashic Deck Box."

To the naked eye, it looks like a standard, slightly bulky deck holder. However, the cards inside are blank until the moment a duel begins. Once the Life Point counters light up, the deck "downloads" a specific Anime Universe as an Archetype. Jake has absolutely no control over which anime gets selected, leading to chaotic improvisation where he has to learn his card effects on the fly.

The Neighborhood Dynamic

Living so close to Yugi Muto has its perks and perils.

The "Normie" Neighbor: Jake is known at Domino High as the guy who plays Duel Monsters but refuses to specialize. He buys boosters from Grandpa Muto, often complaining that "My cards keep changing ink." Grandpa Muto thinks it's a metaphor for a teenager's changing heart; Yami Yugi suspects ancient chaotic magic but can't sense any malice, just pure, concentrated randomness.

Joey's Rival: Joey Wheeler is constantly confused. One day Jake beats him with a deck based on Cooking Master Boy (using food tokens to heal), and the next day Jake loses because he drew a Slice of Life deck that had zero attack power and only focused on "Friendship Counters."

Kaiba's Headache: Seto Kaiba hates Jake. Not because Jake is a threat, but because Jake's cards defy the KaibaCorp database. Every time Jake summons a monster, Kaiba's duel disk displays "ERROR: UNKNOWN DATA," which drives the CEO insane.

The Incident at the Pier: The "Water" Strategy Gone Wrong

The Setup: Jake is challenged by Mako Tsunami at the Domino City pier. The stakes are low—mostly bragging rights—but a crowd gathers, including Yugi and Tea.

The Plan: Knowing he is facing a Water specialist near the ocean, Jake mentally pleads with his Deck Box. "Come on. Give me One Piece. Give me the Fishman Pirates. Give me a Devil Fruit user who can turn the ocean into ice. Give me Blue Lock so I can kick the water away. Anything related to water!"

The Duel Start: The Duel Disk shuffles. Jake draws his hand. He looks at the artwork. It is not pirates. It is not soccer players. It is rocks. Lots of rocks. Archetype Selected:Naruto (The Great Ninja War - Earth Division).

The Turn: Mako Tsunami laughs, activating "Umi" immediately, flooding the holographic field. "My sea creatures will swallow you whole! What will you do now, landlubber?"

Jake sighs, looking at his hand. "Well... I guess I'm playing defense. I set one monster in face-down defense position and place two cards face down. Turn end."

Mako attacks with "Kairyu-Shin." He expects to destroy a weak monster. The hologram reveals a short, grumpy old man floating in the air. Monster Revealed:The Fence-Sitter: Onoki (Earth/Spellcaster/Effect).

Effect:Dust Release. When this card is attacked, the attacking monster's ATK is halved due to gravity manipulation. Kairyu-Shin's attack hits a rock wall and bounces off. Mako is confused. "A rock monster? In the middle of the ocean? Foolish!"

The Climax: Mako escalates, summoning "The Legendary Fisherman" and hiding him beneath the waves of Umi, making him immune to magic attacks. "You can't hit what you can't see, Jake!"

Jake draws his destiny card. He blinks. Then he grins. It's the ultimate irony. "You know, Mako," Jake announces, striking a pose. "You rely on the ocean for your power. But true masters bring their own water."

"What?"

"I tribute my Iwagakure Jonin to summon my ace! Rise from the impure world!" A wooden coffin shoots up from the holographic water, the lid crashing down to reveal a man with white spiky hair, blue armor, and a fur collar.

Summoned:The Second Hokage - Tobirama Senju (Water/Warrior/Effect).

ATK: 2500 / DEF: 2000

"A Water warrior?" Mako gasps. "But you were playing an Earth deck!"

"This guy is a specific counter," Jake laughs. "I activate Tobirama's effect: 'Water Dragon Bullet!' This card is treated as a Water attribute, but it does not require 'Umi' to function. In fact... I activate his secondary effect: 'Bring Down the House!'"

Effect: If "Umi" is on the field, Tobirama can take control of the Field Spell.

"I am the one who invented these jutsus!" Jake shouts (channeling the anime dialogue). The holographic ocean swirls, obeying Tobirama, not Mako. The water lifts Mako's Legendary Fisherman out of hiding.

"Now, Tobirama! Attack with Flying Raijin Slash!" Tobirama teleports behind the Fisherman—bypassing the water entirely—and delivers the finishing blow.

The Aftermath: Jake wins. Mako is stunned, shaking Jake's hand. "Your mastery of the ocean... it was so advanced, you used a Stone Ninja to summon a Water Master. I have much to learn." Jake sweats nervously. "Yeah... totally planned that."

Sample Deck Archetypes & Mechanics

The chaos of Jake's life comes from the translation of Anime logic into Yu-Gi-Oh! card text (PSCT).

Theme: Dragon Ball Z (The Saiyan Saga)Playstyle: Level Modulation / Self-Burn.

Key Card:Kaioken x4 Goku.

Effect: You can pay half your Life Points to double this card's ATK until the End Phase. If you do not win this turn, destroy this card and take 1000 damage.

The Problem: Jake usually draws this deck when he's at 100 Life Points, making the cost impossible to pay.

Theme: Death Note

Playstyle: Control / Alternate Win Condition.

Key Card:Ryuk, the Shinigami of Boredom.

Effect: Once per turn, you can declare a card name. If the opponent has that card, they must banish it. If you survive for 40 turns (40 seconds in anime time), the opponent suffers a "Heart Attack" (Life Points become 0).

The Problem: The duel becomes incredibly boring as Jake just stalls, and opponents get annoyed and try to physically fight him.

Theme: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Stardust Crusaders)Playstyle: "Stand" Union Monsters.

Key Card:Jotaro Kujo & Star Platinum.

Effect: When the opponent declares an attack, you can flip a coin. If Heads: "ORA ORA ORA"—negate the attack and destroy the monster. If Tails: "Yare Yare Daze"—Jotaro takes a nap, and you take direct damage.

The Scenario: Jake ends up in a duel against Bandit Keith. Keith tries to cheat with cards up his sleeve. Jake's Joseph Joestar trap card activates automatically: "Your Next Line Is..." which forces Keith to reveal his cheated cards before he plays them.

Current Goal

Jake is currently trying to figure out how to force the deck to give him a Gundam deck for the upcoming Battle City tournament, because he really wants to summon Wing Gundam Zero to blow up a Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Knowing his luck, he will probably get a Hamtaro deck instead.
