Ruaan walked behind the officer and counted reasons in his head.
One hundred and one reasons why Elijah Crowe would want to see him specifically. He went through all of them, and none of them landed well.
Elijah did not know him. Ruaan did not know Elijah. The only connection between them was a name. And that name was dead, as far as the world was concerned, and buried somewhere four days ago.
So why? Why would he come here?
He thought about what the doctor had said. 'Avoid the one called Elijah. His name spells danger.'
'Sorry, doctor, I'm unable to avoid the dangerous man since he came for me.'
He thought about the other information the doctor had mentioned that day about Elijah and his relationship with Harolin.
He then thought about the fact that Harolin had been alive and well in the morning, and a covered body on a stretcher by 2am, and nobody had explained the hours in between.
