The village of Oakhaven was burning. Seventeen-year-old kai stood paralyzed as a massive shadow-wolf lunged at him,its eyes glowing like red embers. He was just a scrap-collector,expecting the cold embrace of death.

A glowing blue screen suddenly flashed in his vision.

Yes! Kai screamed in his mind.
Suddenly,time slowed down. A surge of ice-cold energy exploded in his veins. The faint scar on his wrist began to glow with a dark ,violet light.

As the wolf's claws reached his throat, Kai vanished into a cloud of black mist. He reappeared behind the beast, a blade of pure shadows flickering in his hand.
"My turn," Kai whispered.
With one swift strike, the shadow blade sliced through the air. The monster let out a final whimper before dissolving into dust.
Kai stood alone in the silence, the blue screen still floating before him.
