The forest had become eerily quiet.
The red light of the Blood Moon covered everything like a thin veil of blood.
Even the wind seemed afraid to move.
Nora stood frozen in the middle of the clearing.
Her mind was still trying to process the Alpha's words.
"You are the Blood Moon heir."
The sentence echoed endlessly in her thoughts.
Daniel slowly pushed himself up from the ground.
Pain shot through his body.
But he forced himself to stand.
He would not let the Alpha take her.
Not again.
"You're lying," Daniel growled.
The Alpha's silver eyes moved slowly toward him.
"You still don't understand, Daniel."
Daniel's claws dug into the dirt.
"I understand enough."
The Alpha was about to answer when something strange happened.
A cold fog suddenly began to roll through the forest.
It appeared out of nowhere.
Thick.
Heavy.
The wolves in the pack immediately became restless.
Even the Alpha's expression darkened.
"That scent…" he whispered.
Daniel froze.
He recognized it too.
A scent from the past.
From a memory he had buried long ago.
The fog grew thicker.
The trees around them slowly disappeared into the mist.
Then…
A silhouette appeared between the trees.
A woman.
She walked slowly out of the fog.
Her long dark hair moved with the wind.
Her eyes shone with a strange golden glow.
Nora felt her heart stop.
The woman looked directly at her.
And whispered softly:
"Nora…"
The voice was familiar.
Painfully familiar.
Nora's lips trembled.
"Mom…?"
The Alpha's eyes widened in shock.
"Impossible."
