Chapter 34 - Chapter 34 — The Last Forge

The barrier cracked again.

Golden light shattered across the heavens as the gigantic hand from the Outer Sea pressed against the sanctuary.

The Forgotten Forge groaned.

Ancient pillars collapsed.

Molten rivers surged violently.

The restored furnaces flickered as reality itself began tearing apart.

Renzo stood before the Heart of the Forge.

The emergency quest window remained suspended before him.

Emergency Divine Quest

The Last Forge

Objective:

Seal the gateway to the Outer Sea.

Failure:

The gateway will fully open.

Silence.

The weight of the decision settled heavily upon him.

If he sealed the gateway—

The Forgotten Forge would disappear.

Everything Astrax had protected.

Everything Ignis had sacrificed for.

Everything Vulcanos had entrusted to him.

It would all vanish.

Renzo slowly clenched his fists.

"There has to be another way."

Hephaestion looked at him calmly.

"There is."

Renzo looked up.

"What?"

The ancient being raised one hand.

Golden flames drifted through the sanctuary.

The furnaces.

The anvils.

The rivers of molten stars.

Every part of the forge responded.

"A Forge Monarch does not merely protect a forge."

"A Forge Monarch carries it."

Renzo froze.

"Carry it?"

Vulcanos nodded.

"The Forgotten Forge was never truly a place."

"It was an authority."

"The sanctuary is the physical manifestation of the Heart of the Forge."

Hephaestion continued.

"If the forge remains here…"

The ancient being looked toward the broken heavens.

"…the Outer Sea will continue using it as a gateway."

Golden light spread across the sanctuary.

"But if the forge becomes your domain…"

Renzo's eyes widened.

"The gateway disappears."

Hephaestion nodded.

"The forge will leave this world."

"And exist within you."

The words echoed through the sanctuary.

Kensei-Ryu laughed softly.

"So the dungeon becomes part of the player."

Renzo looked around.

The ancient furnaces.

The First Anvil.

The restored Second Anvil.

The Final Anvil.

Astrax's memory.

Ignis' loyalty.

He couldn't abandon them.

But he also couldn't allow the Outer Sea to enter the world.

He looked toward Ignis.

The giant guardian slowly nodded.

"The forge belongs with its master."

Vulcanos stepped beside Renzo.

Golden flames surrounded the forge god.

"Renzo."

"The inheritance is incomplete."

"You inherited my class."

"My authority."

"My forge."

"But you have not yet inherited my burden."

Renzo looked at him.

"What burden?"

Vulcanos looked toward the Outer Sea.

"The burden of protecting creation."

A deafening roar shook the sanctuary.

The barrier shattered further.

A second gigantic hand emerged from the darkness.

Corvus laughed.

"IT IS TOO LATE!"

Darkness poured through the broken sky.

The Outer Sea was entering the world.

Hephaestion's voice echoed throughout the forge.

"Decide."

Renzo took a deep breath.

Then walked toward the Heart of the Forge.

Golden flames rose around him.

Starbreaker floated before him.

Chrono Fang floated beside it.

The two weapons crossed.

Renzo placed one hand on each.

"I won't abandon the forge."

He looked toward the broken heavens.

"And I won't let this world fall."

Golden light exploded.

The entire sanctuary resonated with his voice.

"I choose both."

The Heart of the Forge pulsed.

Once.

Twice.

Then—

It exploded into countless stars.

A massive golden magic circle appeared beneath the entire sanctuary.

Ancient runes covered every surface.

The furnaces roared.

The anvils shone brilliantly.

The molten rivers rose into the sky.

A new system window appeared.

Divine Authority Awakening

Authority of Creation:

Partial Unseal

Authority of Dominion:

Activated

New Authority Acquired:

Forge Domain

Renzo felt something impossible.

The forge was becoming lighter.

Smaller.

Not physically.

Conceptually.

The entire sanctuary was compressing into a single point.

Corvus' expression changed.

"NO!"

The Devourer charged.

The gigantic hands of the Outer Sea descended simultaneously.

Hephaestion raised both arms.

Golden stars filled the sky.

"NOW, FORGE MONARCH!"

Renzo closed his eyes.

The forge answered.

Every furnace.

Every anvil.

Every weapon ever forged within this sanctuary.

He could feel them all.

Thousands of years of creation.

Thousands of years of craftsmanship.

Thousands of years of hope.

Renzo spoke a single command.

"Return."

The world trembled.

The Forgotten Forge began disappearing.

Not collapsing.

Not being destroyed.

Returning.

The First Anvil dissolved into light.

The Second Anvil followed.

The furnaces became stars.

The rivers became golden streams.

Everything flowed toward Renzo.

Toward the Heart of the Forge within him.

Ignis looked around silently.

Then smiled.

"Home."

The guardian dissolved into golden flames.

His body became light.

The light entered Renzo's soul.

A final system notification appeared.

Bound Guardian Acquired

Name:

Ignis

Status:

Soul Guardian

Corvus screamed.

The sanctuary was vanishing.

The gateway was collapsing.

The Outer Sea was being severed from the world.

The gigantic hands reached toward Renzo.

Too late.

The final piece of the forge disappeared.

The sanctuary became a single golden star.

The star entered Renzo's chest.

Silence.

The Forgotten Forge was gone.

The broken heavens sealed shut.

The crack in reality vanished.

The darkness retreated.

Corvus looked around.

The Devourer stood alone in empty space.

Its gateway had disappeared.

Its connection to the Outer Sea had been cut.

Golden flames surrounded Renzo.

A new window appeared.

Forge Domain Established

Location:

Soul Realm

Status:

Portable Divine Sanctuary

Renzo slowly opened his eyes.

The world had changed.

The forge was no longer beneath his feet.

It was within him.

Corvus stared at him with hatred.

"You…"

The Devourer's voice trembled.

"…stole the forge."

Renzo looked at the ancient entity calmly.

"No."

Golden flames ignited around Starbreaker.

"I inherited it."

Without the sanctuary—

Without the gateway—

Corvus was trapped.

For the first time—

The Herald of the Outer Sea was truly vulnerable.

Renzo slowly raised his hammer.

The battle for the Forgotten Forge was over.

The battle for the world was about to begin.
