Chapter 7 - A New Player on the Field

Morning sunlight spread across Beacon Hills.

Students slowly arrived at Beacon Hills High School, filling the hallways with noise and chatter.

Lockers slammed.

Friends laughed.

Teachers walked past carrying stacks of papers.

To everyone else, it was just another normal school day.

But for several people in this town…

Life had changed.

Inside the hallway, Scott McCall leaned against his locker.

His head hurt.

Everything felt… different.

The sounds around him were too loud.

He could hear whispers from the other side of the hallway.

He could even hear someone's heartbeat nearby.

Scott rubbed his temples.

"What is happening to me…?"

Next to him stood his best friend, Stiles Stilinski.

Stiles was talking quickly.

"Okay, hear me out. You're stronger, faster, and you healed from that huge bite overnight."

Scott groaned.

"Please stop saying it."

Stiles leaned closer.

"You got bitten by something in the woods."

Scott sighed.

"Yes, I know that part."

Stiles whispered dramatically.

"What if… you're turning into a werewolf?"

Scott stared at him.

"Seriously?"

Stiles pointed at him.

"You broke a sink yesterday!"

Scott had no response to that.

Across the hallway—

Aiden Blackwell watched the two quietly.

His Hellhound senses made it easy to hear their entire conversation.

He smirked slightly.

Scott is figuring it out already.

Scott's transformation was progressing faster than expected.

But something else caught Aiden's attention.

Someone was approaching Scott.

A tall figure stepped out from around the corner.

Sharp eyes.

Dark jacket.

Serious expression.

It was Derek Hale.

Derek walked straight toward Scott.

Scott immediately noticed him.

"Uh… do you know that guy?" Scott whispered.

Stiles shook his head.

"Nope."

Derek stopped directly in front of Scott.

For a moment—

The hallway felt strangely tense.

Derek spoke quietly.

"You were in the woods two nights ago."

Scott froze.

"How do you know that?"

Derek ignored the question.

"Did something bite you?"

Scott hesitated.

Stiles immediately stepped forward.

"Okay, who are you and why are you interrogating my best friend?"

Derek looked at Stiles briefly.

"Not talking to you."

Stiles frowned.

"Rude."

Scott lowered his voice.

"Look… I don't know what's happening to me."

Derek studied him carefully.

Then he spoke calmly.

"You were bitten by an Alpha."

Scott blinked.

"A what?"

"A werewolf."

Scott laughed nervously.

"Okay… that's not funny."

Derek didn't laugh.

Scott's smile slowly faded.

"Wait… you're serious?"

Derek nodded.

"You're turning."

Scott's face went pale.

From across the hallway, Aiden watched everything with interest.

The original story was moving forward.

But now—

There was a new variable.

Him.

Just then—

DING!

The system activated.

Aiden smiled.

Perfect timing.

Later that afternoon—

Students gathered at the lacrosse field.

Coach blew his whistle loudly.

"Tryouts start now!"

Players began running drills across the field.

Among them was Scott.

But Scott was distracted.

His senses were still out of control.

Every sound echoed in his head.

The smell of grass, sweat, and dirt was overwhelming.

Meanwhile—

Aiden walked calmly onto the field.

Several students looked at him curiously.

One of them was Jackson Whittemore, the team captain.

Jackson crossed his arms.

"Who's the new guy?"

Aiden picked up a lacrosse stick.

"Just trying out."

Jackson smirked.

"Good luck."

Tryouts began.

Players passed the ball quickly across the field.

Scott ran forward and caught a pass.

But he misjudged his strength.

The ball shot out of his stick at incredible speed.

It slammed into the goal with a loud THUD.

Everyone stared.

Coach blinked.

"…Okay."

But then—

Aiden moved.

A player threw the ball toward him.

Aiden caught it effortlessly.

Then he ran.

Fast.

Incredibly fast.

Even faster than Scott.

He dodged two defenders without effort.

Then—

He jumped.

And scored.

The ball struck the net with explosive force.

The field fell silent.

Coach lowered his clipboard.

"Well…"

He looked impressed.

"You're on the team."

Jackson stared at Aiden with clear annoyance.

Scott looked shocked.

Even Derek Hale, watching from the forest edge, narrowed his eyes.

Aiden Blackwell lowered his lacrosse stick calmly.

His eyes briefly flashed with faint orange fire.

Joining the team was easy.

But Aiden wasn't here for sports.

He looked toward the forest surrounding Beacon Hills.

Because somewhere in those woods…

Two dangerous predators were watching this town.

Peter Hale.

And Derek Hale.

Aiden smiled slightly.

And soon—

Both of them would realize something important.

A Hellhound had entered the game.
