Chapter 1: The Cursed Forest

The village of Bhairavpur was quiet after sunset.

Not because people slept early.

But because no one dared to stay outside.

Beyond the last row of houses stood a forest so dark that even the moonlight seemed afraid to enter it. The villagers called it The Cursed Forest.

For generations, the elders repeated the same warning:

"Never enter that forest."

They said demons lived there.

They said ghosts wandered among the trees.

Most terrifying of all, they said that anyone who entered the forest never returned the same.

But children rarely feared stories.

On a warm summer afternoon, two children ran through the village fields, laughing as they chased each other.

A seven-year-old boy with messy hair and sharp eyes stopped near the edge of the forest. His name was Arjun.

Behind him ran a girl of the same age, her long hair tied loosely as she tried to catch him.

"Arjun! Wait!" she shouted.

Arjun turned and pointed toward the forest.

"Meera… have you ever wondered what's inside?"

The girl froze.

Her smile slowly faded.

"Don't say that," she whispered. "My grandmother says that place is cursed."

Arjun looked toward the towering trees again.

The wind inside the forest was strange. It carried a cold feeling even though the day was warm.

"But no one actually knows," he said quietly.

For a moment, the two children stood silently at the forest's edge.

Then Meera sighed.

"You're going to go anyway, aren't you?"

Arjun grinned.

"Only a little. We'll just look."

Meera hesitated.

Every story she had heard warned her to stay away.

But leaving Arjun alone felt worse.

So she stepped forward.

"Fine… but only for a few minutes."

The moment they crossed the boundary, the air changed.

The forest became silent.

Too silent.

No birds.

No insects.

Even the wind stopped moving.

The children walked deeper between the ancient trees. Strange shadows stretched across the ground, twisting like living things.

After several minutes, Meera grabbed Arjun's arm.

"Something feels wrong."

Arjun was about to answer when he saw it.

Far ahead, hidden between the trees, stood an ancient stone structure.

A temple.

Its walls were cracked and covered with vines as if it had been abandoned for centuries.

"Look…" Arjun whispered.

The two children slowly approached the temple.

The entrance was broken, and darkness filled the inside.

The air around it felt heavy.

Cold.

Meera stepped back nervously.

"We should go."

But the moment Arjun took another step toward the temple, a deep rumbling sound echoed from underground.

The ground began to tremble.

The wind suddenly roared through the forest.

And from somewhere deep within the temple… something woke up.
