Chapter 9 - The Last Snap

The sky slowly returned to its normal color.

The terrible red light that once covered the world had disappeared.

The Demon God was gone.

Completely erased from existence.

High above the silent sky, Auren Vale stood alone.

The wind moved softly around him.

For a moment, everything was quiet.

The greatest enemy of humanity had been removed.

But the world below him was still broken.

Half of the planet had been destroyed.

Cities had vanished.

Mountains had collapsed.

Oceans had swallowed entire lands.

And billions of people…

Were gone.

Auren looked down at the ruins of the world.

Smoke still rose from distant cities.

Large parts of the earth had turned into empty wastelands.

The silence felt heavy.

Painful.

This was the cost of the war.

Even though the Demon God was gone…

Humanity had already suffered too much.

Auren slowly closed his eyes.

For a long time, he had avoided using his full power.

Because the price of that power was something terrible.

Something irreversible.

His existence.

If he used too much of the Void's power, the universe would correct itself.

And he would be erased from the timeline.

Not just death.

Something worse.

It would be as if he had never existed.

No memories.

No history.

No trace.

Auren had always known this truth.

That was why he had lived quietly.

That was why he never interfered too much with the world.

But today…

Looking at the broken earth below him…

He knew there was no other choice.

The world needed to be restored.

The people who died deserved another chance to live.

Auren slowly opened his eyes.

His expression was calm.

Peaceful.

Almost accepting.

"So this is how it ends," he whispered softly.

He raised one hand toward the sky.

The air around him began to change.

Space itself started bending.

Time trembled like fragile glass.

A powerful wave of energy slowly spread from his body.

It was not destructive.

It was something far more incredible.

Creation.

The original power of the universe.

Auren's voice echoed quietly across the silent sky.

"Return."

The broken lands below began to move.

Destroyed mountains slowly rebuilt themselves.

Collapsed cities started forming again.

Stone returned to its original shape.

Glass windows reappeared.

Roads repaired themselves.

The oceans calmed.

Storms disappeared.

Across the world…

The impossible was happening.

Time itself was moving backward.

Moments of destruction were reversing.

The past was being rewritten.

People who had died suddenly took their next breath again.

A mother opened her eyes beside her child.

A soldier stood again on the battlefield.

Children who had vanished returned to their homes.

Billions of lives were being restored.

The entire world was returning to the moment before the destruction began.

But the power required to do this was enormous.

Far beyond anything the universe normally allowed.

Auren's body slowly began to glow.

Small particles of light started drifting away from him.

His existence was beginning to fade.

But he continued.

Because saving the world mattered more than his own life.

The timeline continued reversing.

The sky became peaceful again.

Cities returned to normal.

The terrible war disappeared as if it had never happened.

Soon the entire world had been restored.

Everything was exactly the same as it had been before the Demon God appeared.

Auren looked down one last time.

People were walking in the streets.

Laughing.

Talking.

Living normal lives.

They would never know how close they had come to extinction.

And that was okay.

Heroes were not always meant to be remembered.

Sometimes…

Their purpose was simply to protect the world quietly.

Auren felt his body becoming lighter.

More transparent.

The universe had begun correcting itself.

The power he had used was too great.

His existence no longer belonged in the timeline.

He smiled softly.

There was no regret in his heart.

Only one small sadness.

One person he wished he could see again.

Elira.

He wondered where she was now.

Maybe she was living peacefully somewhere.

Maybe she was happy.

Auren hoped she was.

Because that was all he had ever wanted for her.

The particles of light around his body increased.

His hands were slowly disappearing.

He looked up at the quiet sky one last time.

Then he gently raised his fingers.

And made a small snapping motion.

Snap.

That final action sealed the restored timeline.

The world was safe again.

But Auren Vale was slowly fading from existence.

Like a memory disappearing in the wind.

Soon…

No one would remember his name.

No one would remember the quiet boy who once loved someone from afar.

The world would continue moving forward.

Peacefully.

Without him.

And Auren accepted that.
