[Section I: Vocabulary of the Deep]
The "Why" (The Core Anchor): This is the emotional weight that keeps a soul from dissolving. In the Underworld, memories are just data, but the "Why" is the reason behind that data. It is inspired by the ancient Egyptian concept of the Ren (The Secret Name). The Egyptians believed that as long as your name was spoken, you existed; here, as long as your "Why" is held, you cannot be processed by the Law.
The Stagnant Sighs: The atmospheric pressure of the Underworld. It is not made of oxygen, but of the collective weight of billions of years of grief and resignation. It tastes of copper and old stone. New arrivals often feel "suffocated" because they are trying to breathe a reality that no longer supports life.
Sweating Gold: A physical reaction unique to the Mediator. When Zany's internal "Existence" power clashes with the external "Law" of the Underworld, his form begins to leak radiant energy. Historically, gold was seen as the "Flesh of the Gods" in many cultures; for Zany, it is the physical manifestation of his birthright.

Hades (The Former King):
Profile: A weary, apathetic administrator who has "retired" from his duties, leaving the Underworld to run on a cold, automated script called "The Law." He recognizes Zany not as a ghost, but as an Anomaly.
Historical Feat [The Unseen]: In Greek mythology, his name means "The Unseen One." People were so afraid of his gaze that they would turn their heads away when sacrificing to him. In our story, this manifests as his ability to see through the "mask" of any soul, except for Zany, who has no shadow to read.
Historical Feat [Plouton]: He was the god of all hidden wealth in the earth. The fact that Zany brings "Gold" into his realm is a direct challenge to Hades' title as the wealthiest of the gods.

The Obsidian Gates:
Physicality: Massive slabs of volcanic glass that consume light. They are a conceptual barrier that strips the "Frequency" of a soul.
Historical Feat [The Pylartes]: Ancient cults called Hades "The Gate-Fastener" because he held the keys to ensure no soul ever escaped. The Gates were said to be indestructible. Zany threatening to "delete" the front door is the ultimate insult to this historical permanence.
The River of Lead:
Physicality: A silent, heavy liquid that flows through the Shallows. It is our version of the Styx.
Historical Feat [The Unbreakable Oath]: In history, the gods swore oaths by the Styx. In the Underworld, the River of Lead is the physical weight of those "Oaths" and "Laws." If you lose your "Why," the weight of the river pulls you into the metallic depths forever.
