"What? Old man, you're kidding, right? You can't heal my waist injury?"
Yami lay on the operating table while a middle-aged man with glasses carefully handled a strange jellyfish-like creature.
"Your wound is worsening. It carries an erosive type of energy. Before it turns necrotic, you should consider removing the affected part."
"Let me think about it."
Yami stared at the ceiling. Even Uncle Owen, who reported directly to the Wizard King, had no solution. Was he really going to lose part of his kidney? Damn it.
"Damn, better a short pain than a long one. It's not like I can't live without it. Let's do it."
After returning to the Black Bulls' hideout, Yami clutched his side. Although a small portion of his kidney had been removed, the cold, eerie sensation was gone.
"Captain Yami, you went to report to the Wizard King. How did you come back injured?"
Yami grabbed Magna by the head and hurled him across the room like a projectile.
"Brats, all of you, get out here!"
"Where are Noelle and Cedric? And where did Vanessa run off to? Finral, find them and bring them back."
"Yes, Captain."
Finral Roulacase quickly opened a spatial gate and disappeared. Something felt off, and he had no intention of sticking around.
After leaving part of his life essence with Sally, Cedric decided to bring Rebecca and her family to his base. All the Magic Stones were already gathered. Sooner or later, the Clover Kingdom and the Eye of the Midnight Sun would clash.
Rebecca was too weak to survive something like that.
With that decision made, Cedric headed back.
Arriving at the town once more, he pushed open the door and was greeted by a rich, mouth-watering aroma.
"Another serving of Knight Stew, little sister."
"Coming right up!"
Luca, wearing an apron, hurried between tables carrying dishes.
"Brother-in-law, you're back! Big sister is in the kitchen."
"I know, little Luca. Here, I brought your favorite milk candy."
Luca happily accepted it.
"Thank you, brother-in-law! Luca likes you the most."
In the kitchen, Rebecca stood in a white apron, tasting a dish. She suddenly frowned as a pair of hands wrapped around her waist from behind, sliding slightly upward in a teasing motion.
"Die, you pervert!"
She grabbed a knife and turned, only to freeze.
"Cedric!"
The knife dropped as she threw herself into his arms and pinched his waist hard.
"You bastard, you scared me to death!"
"Don't cry. If you ruin that pretty face, I'd feel guilty."
"What are you here for this time? It's not to mess around again, is it? Wait, I'll close the shop first."
She hurried out, clearly more interested in him than the restaurant.
Soon, the place was empty.
Rebecca leaned into Cedric's arms and looked up at him.
"Did you miss me?"
"No."
Her hand slowly tightened on his waist.
"Answer again."
"I did."
Satisfied, she rested her head against his chest.
"My darling, the Clover Kingdom is about to fall into chaos. I'm sending you somewhere safe."
"A safe place?"
"Yeah. I can't let anything happen to you. That would break my heart."
Rebecca's expression softened, but then she smirked and pushed him lightly onto the table, her eyes playful.
"Always talking like that… you really know how to charm a woman."
Cedric grinned and pulled her closer, his voice low.
"And you love every second of it."
Their playful teasing lingered in the air before Cedric finally straightened.
"Rebecca, are you ready?"
"Yes."
"Good."
In an instant, they vanished.
"Ah, Brother Cedric, you brought another woman back! Ella doesn't want to live anymore!"
Mariella shouted dramatically as she ran off.
Cedric rubbed his forehead.
I swear she appears at the worst times.
"Was that a new girl just now?" Rebecca asked curiously.
"No."
"Really? She looked quite pretty."
Cedric smirked and leaned closer to her ear.
"Pretty? Not even close to you."
Rebecca felt her cheeks warm slightly but still looked thoughtful.
"What? You didn't find them? Not even one? You useless trash!"
Back at the hideout, Yami grabbed Finral again despite his recent surgery.
"Mmm… I slept so well."
Noelle Silva woke up briefly, saw it was still night, and went back to sleep.
Later, Vanessa stumbled in, reeking of alcohol, and collapsed onto the sofa.
The next morning, Yami frowned.
"Finral, take me to the Seabed Temple."
Finral, barely conscious, opened a portal without complaint.
Meanwhile, Cedric pushed open Noelle's door.
"Wake up, you lazy princess."
"What? Cedric created an anti-government organization, and you're all members?"
"Yes, Sister Rebecca. Cedric wants to build a utopia where everyone is equal."
Mariella looked excited as she explained.
A utopia?
Rebecca blinked. So her man wasn't just a shameless flirt. He actually had ambition.
"Then the chaos he mentioned… is it related?"
"Probably not. We're only spreading ideas in small villages for now."
"I know. It must be Licht. The Eye of the Midnight Sun is about to act."
Rebecca turned toward the girl holding a radish.
"You're from the Eye of the Midnight Sun?"
"My name is Sally."
Sally adjusted her glasses proudly.
"This is my creation."
Rebecca stared at the radish in confusion.
"That… is not a child."
"It's still important to me."
"Stop saying nonsense in front of Sister Rebecca," Mariella snapped. "That thing has nothing to do with Brother Cedric."
"Korie is not a radish. She is my creation."
"Gel Magic: Sticky Salamander."
The strange creature wobbled to life.
Rebecca held her head.
These people are insane.
"I'll wait for Cedric to explain everything."
With that, she quickly retreated, leaving the chaos behind.
