The morning sun was soft and warm as it spread across the quiet streets of the city. People hurried to work, cars passed quickly, and the sound of life echoed everywhere.
Laila walked carefully along the sidewalk, holding a small notebook close to her chest. It was her first day working at the central city library, and she felt both excited and nervous.
"Today will be different," she whispered to herself.
She had recently moved to the city, hoping for a fresh start. The past year had not been easy for her, and the new job felt like a chance to begin again.
As she approached the large library building, she didn't notice the tall young man coming from the opposite direction. He was carrying several books in his arms and seemed deeply lost in thought.
Then suddenly—
Crash.
The books fell to the ground.
"Oh! I'm so sorry!" Laila said quickly as she bent down to pick them up.
"It's okay," the young man replied with a gentle smile.
For a brief moment, their eyes met.
There was something strangely familiar in that moment—something neither of them could explain.
"Thank you," he said while taking the books from her hands. "I guess I should watch where I'm going."
Laila laughed softly.
"Maybe I should do the same."
They both stood up, slightly embarrassed but smiling.
"My name is Adam," he said.
"Laila."
For a moment, neither of them moved. The busy city around them seemed to fade away.
Then Adam pointed toward the library entrance.
"Are you going there?"
"Yes," Laila replied. "It's actually my first day working there."
Adam raised his eyebrows with surprise.
"Really? That's interesting."
"Why?" she asked.
He smiled again.
"Because I spend almost every day there."
