"I was told that you were stabbed directly in the heart by a blunt knife," Dr. Lucien spoke formally, standing straight. I turned my head around and saw the city view appearing brightly colourful. I stared at the view longingly… there was a difference on how I felt during the past and now. The view was spectacularly stunning. I heard heavy footsteps outside the door then an old woman came running in this ward… "Ren, I've been worried sick thinking you have been," Mum panicked. She ran up to me, and gave me a tight hug, the bandages wrapped around my chest started to soak in raw, pure blood from being squeezed too tight. She let go, didn't say Good-bye, and left the ward. The ward had cool toned lights that lit up when it got dark. Dr. Lucien came in and informed me about the state I was… "We checked the blood test results, and x-ray… unfortunately you will stay here from about now to the next year" Dr. Lucien firmly spoke, looking faked sorry. When it hit 12:00 PM, I felt a feeling of no worry about Dad coming home. And soon later after a bunch of active, useless thoughts, I surprisingly fell asleep.
After taking a nap, I woke up at one past one. No nurses in sight, no parents, no friends (not like I ever had one) … thinking about that, my heart felt heavy and tensed. "I want to escape this place, I want to meet Shiro, I want to…". That was enough 'want'. I needed more answers. Because of my father, every case occurring in the village became an enmity. I hopped out of bed feeling pain in my chest and my heart feeling cold. I am certain that getting hit in the heart will be the end of reality, but I managed to somehow… survive. I walked outside of my ward feeling guilt and agony. I finally realized the pain Shiro had been through and what she felt in the present – the devasted touch of torture, sorrow, and hatred. Nurses walked past me in the dim light, not recognizing that I was a treated patient. "MY chance to escape". "Ren?", someone behind me spoke. I turned around and noticed Dr. Lucien in the crowd of nurses rushing from one place to another. All nurses and Dr. Lucien stared in one direction. I was being stared at. I ran up the stairs that was at my left, and saw a girl dressed in white down the hallway. Dr. Lucien was behind me already. "Ren…" Shiro mumbled, eyes wide and round. She ran to me, held my hand and we sprinted off and landed in the forest. The taste of crusty leaves rang a bell inside my head. Shiro was gripping my hand tightly. A single tear rolled down her cheek, I could tell I was burdening her again. I gave her a tight hug, no matter if she'd push me away… but she didn't. She stood there arms down, and my arms wrapped around her waist. The air turned stiff, and a cry screamed through the wind. I knew Shiro was afraid, so I didn't let go. A few minutes later, I finally let go once my arms were sore and left.
