Chapter 23 - Chapter 24- Alex

The private Gulfstream leveled off at thirty thousand feet, the hum of the engines providing a steady backdrop to the business of the Jones Firm. This wasn't just a flight to a filming location; it was the deployment of an empire.

Anastasia sat by the window, watching the moonlight hit the clouds. She had turned sixteen just two weeks ago—a birthday celebrated quietly with the sisters and Cameron, marked more by the signing of new investment papers than a party. She felt the weight of those sixteen years differently; she wasn't just a child star anymore. She was a woman with a seat at the table.

The Contract: The Sovereign Terms"Okay, the ink is dry," Sarah announced, sliding two sets of documents across the mahogany table. "Because of the massive success of Random Life, I was able to squeeze the studio for a record-breaking deal."

She pointed to the numbers, her voice filled with a quiet, professional pride:

Anastasia's Salary: A guaranteed $500,000 upfront.

Cameron's Salary: As the Firm's first official client, her rate jumped to $350,000.

The Backend: Sarah had secured a staggering 8% of the film's total gross income for the Firm to split.

"In this industry, people usually get 'net' profits—which means you never see a dime," Sarah explained. "But we have 'Gross.' We get paid from the first dollar the theater takes in."

Anastasia looked at the numbers and then at Cameron. "This is why we're a firm, Cam. We don't just work; we own."

The Client AgreementBefore they reached Japanese airspace, Anastasia handed Cameron a separate, embossed folder. "This makes it official, Cam. You are the first external client of the Jones Firm. We aren't just friends helping friends anymore. We are your management, your PR, and your legal shield."

Cameron signed the document without hesitation, a tear glimmering in her eye. "I'm not just a client, Stasia. I'm a believer."

The Meeting with the RivalThe project, The Final Prize, was a high-stakes, glossy drama set in the neon-soaked nightlife of Tokyo. The plot centered on two inseparable best friends—Anastasia and Cameron—whose bond is pushed to the breaking point when they both fall for the same enigmatic, dangerous heir to a Japanese tech empire.

When they arrived at the Tokyo studio for the first table read, the atmosphere was thick with anticipation. Waiting for them was the male lead, Alex Sade.

Alex was only eighteen, just two years older than Anastasia, but he had already been labeled the "James Dean of the Eighties." He had a restless, electric energy and a face that was all sharp angles and soulful eyes. He had spent his career surrounded by older actors, but when the doors opened and the Jones Firm walked in, his focus didn't go to the producers. It went straight to Anastasia.

The First Spark"I thought you were a myth," Alex said, standing up as they approached. He didn't look at her with the condescending gaze most eighteen-year-old boys gave sixteen-year-old girls. He looked at her with a startling, immediate recognition.

He seemed struck by the contrast between her petite, doll-like frame and the immense, controlled power radiating from her green eyes. He had seen her work, but standing in front of her, he looked like he had just been hit by a live wire.

"I'm Anastasia," she said, her voice cool and professional. "And this is my partner, Cameron, and my management, Sarah and Beth."

Alex smiled, a soft, genuine expression that reached his eyes. "I've been waiting to meet you since I saw the London dailies. I think... I think the movie is going to be the easy part. Keeping up with you is going to be the real work."

The Training and the TensionRidley Scott began the pre-production with a grueling schedule of chemistry tests. The film required the two girls to go from loving sisters-in-arms to bitter rivals, fighting over Alex's character.

During a rehearsal for a high-tension scene in a Shinjuku penthouse, Alex had to choose between them. He played the scene with a raw, magnetic pull toward Anastasia that felt uncomfortably real. Every time he looked at her, the "burn" in the room intensified.

Cameron felt it instantly. Her protective instincts flared, her heart beginning to throb with that familiar, jealous heat. She didn't like the way Alex looked at Anastasia—like he wanted to protect the person everyone else thought was invincible.

"He's only eighteen, but he's looking at you like he's discovered a new planet, Stasia," Cameron whispered during a break, her hand gripping Anastasia's shoulder. "I don't like it. He's too close to the circle."

"It's just a movie, Cam," Anastasia replied, though she felt the weight of Alex's gaze from across the room.

"It's never 'just a movie' with us," Cameron countered, her eyes flashing. "He doesn't know the rules of the fortress."

As the sun set over the Tokyo skyline, the four women stood on their hotel balcony. They had the millions, the contracts, and the talent. But for the first time, a boy their own age had entered the arena who seemed determined to find a way through the walls they had built.
